    When I first saw the leaked render I thought that the flattened space between the buttons might have capacitive touch for navigating menus, but damn. Not even a rotating crown.
    Might be okay if it at least runs the aqua touch feature that Oneplus has been touting on the 12. Somehow I doubt they've got it running on a watch though...

    • @TheInchii
      @TheInchii Před 5 měsíci

      @@aamirsidd94 You think it's worth to buy it? I had Galaxy watch 5 44mm for a few days and return it because of poor battery and not the most smooth UI experience. I still rock my old galaxy watch 46mm which gives me 1,5 to 2 days if I use it for answer messages and pick up calls at work if I use it more lightly I get around 3 days 2,5 years old watch. I am looking for watch with at least 2 days of battery life with moderate usage what I mean by that, few calls per day maximum 1-2 nun by call, and 10-20 messages send per day + basic monitor like every 10min heart rate etc. Or 3 days+ with lighter usage. I was thinking of I still not ditch the possibility to write messages and just get something like Amazfit balance or Huawei gt4 and then I saw this one you think it's worth it, all I am afraid of is that OnePlus will drop software updates after 1-1,5 year and I plan to use watch like this for at least 2-3 years. Or maybe ticwatch 5 pro but problems with software but it's possible to get it for around 180-200 euro. I don't know myself paying 300 euro for watch is bit high for me but if it's worth it.

    Seriously, when I saw the rave headlines of all videos regarding the battery 🔋 life of this smartwatch I was expecting 4-5 days in smart mode, but no, it's no better than a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro or TicWatch Pro 5, no rotating bezel (and yet, there is no lack of borders on this OnePlus Watch 2, they are more than abundant 🤧) or crown, no fall detection, no ECG...
    In fact, it's the testers/youtubers (in reality, they're more salespeople than anything else) who make brands today allow themselves to release such mediocre products at such high prices, pfff 🤦🏽‍♂️

    It's not hard, it's huge. Ticwatch can do it with the W5 chipset so others can get 2+days.

    • @Ronnet
      @Ronnet Před 5 měsíci +4

      The Ticwatch can do it because of its secondary screen layer. So basically turning the "real" display off to save battery. OnePlus is doing it by having a low powered processor to run the device when you're not running complex tasks. Without some special trick a smartwatch running wearOS and the same processor isnt going to see this kind of performance. Credit where credit is due. This is a clever solution.

    I think it's perfect for people like me who value battery life, notifications, and music control above fitness and sleep tracking. I have a big wrist so the size is perfect, but I can see how it wouldn't fit a woman's wrist well. The only real downside for me personally is the rotating crown, I would have liked that to either function or be another oval button, but it's not a deal breaker.

      Different OS's, so not a direct apples-to-apples comparison. This runs Wear OS, which has an app store and can run third party apps. So you can run apps like Google Maps etc. That 2 day+ battery life is impressive in that context, not as a direct comparison to Garmin. It also has an RTOS "power saving" mode that can do 12 days of life, but no Wear OS apps on that mode

    When will smart watch companies actually measure a wrist? Is your wrist round? No. Are analogue watches round because your wrist is round? No. They're round because of clockwork. So just put a square screen, preferably rectangular on my watch. Make it 16:9 and I can watch proper TV in it. But at least I can get a big watch which displays everything I want. Only small brands have noticed this so far. Circular digital screens are as offensive as if they started to put notches on smartphones or round off the corners of perfectly good rectangular screens.

    • @jonevansauthor
      @jonevansauthor Před 5 měsíci

      Oh and they need to be USB C not dedicated 'wireless' charging. No-one wants a special watch charger, Fitbit et al. We want to slap it down on any wireless charger, or just plug it in with USB-C. We're not savages. There's no reason they couldn't agree a simple flat, QI2 charger, or make them work on normal QI2 chargers. At least they've let you use any cable you want, that is a plus but not a big enough improvement.
      They've used a standard 22mm watch strap so kudos to them for that. You can use any strap you want, unlike Fitbit and Apple and all the other manufactured e-waste companies. I really want the EU to make proprietary smart watch straps completely illegal. They're such a disaster. My Casio strap from the 80s lasted longer, and I could replace it with anything I wanted (most popular watch ever btw and they still make it). Proprietary stuff is a disaster.
