- In this video I finally complete my Fine Scale Models structure "Water Tank & Tool Shed." I started this model about a year ago for a proposed diorama that will eventually ended up turning into an entire model Railroad. The structure is now complete and I will begin creating the scene that will be Lehl & Son Steamworks.
The structure is named after a water well service that I used to work for in the early 90's. Yup, I used to be a windmill mechanic and did all manner of rural water well service. The real Lehl & Son had a yard that was full of junk windmill parts waiting to be refurbished and is the inspiration for my model.... LOTS OF JUNK and a few guys working in the yard. Brad, Gary, and Ray will be busy welding up something and if we're lucky we might even see Jimy-Billy pick'n and grinin on the ole banjo.

Such an incredible looking structure.
Thanks Heath!
Cool build,
Outstanding opening song! Gets my Hyped to watch the video!
Thanks! LOL, I got a copyright strike for it!!
@@OtterCreek o man! Nooooo! Well, good luck with that brother.
For my water tank roofs, I use a beer can turned inside out and cut it like your roof and use a strip of beer can to go over the seam where you overlap the roof pieces. Makes a great roof and looks better than what comes with the model kit. Cheers & 73 from W Rusty Lane K9POW in eastern Tennessee
Do you have any pictures of the process and finished model?? I'd love to see them.
Very nice work. Looking good.
Thank you!
I LIKE it! 👍 Great job.
Don't apologize for those tiny bits, my eyesight ain't what it used to be...I still enjoy building. 😉
Thanks! I have several more FSM kits to build in the future!!
Great video .Like it very much.
I think you did a fantastic job on the Lehl & Son structure Dennis. The final result reflects all the skill, patience, and even love you put into it. If you continue at this level (and I suspect you will only continue to polish your techniques with regular practice), your layout will be nothing less than spectacular. Carry on my good man. Art...
Thanks Art!
That building is pretty awesome. Great job.
Thanks James, I love the Fine Scale Miniatures kits. It will be hard for me to ever go back to plastic!!
@@OtterCreek after your video I'm getting a lot of recommendations for watching these videos. I knew of them but hadn't seen one before, they are pretty awesome. I would love for someone to do modern buildings in this format instead of just molded plastic, or maybe I just haven't stumbled across it yet.
@@BCY I think there are a few companies out there that you can get laser cut kits for "newerish" buildings. Do you watch Rob Bennett's channel? I think the huge structure he just completed is fairly modern, Modular like DPM kits. It's by ITLA (Imagine That Laser Art.)
@@OtterCreek I do watch his stuff so I will have to go back and find those videos. I will also look into that company.
01960 is not the kit build date but the Peabody zip code. I think FSM began building kits later in the '60's or the early '70's.
Thanks Ned! Yeah several people have pointed that out to me since this aired.
You did a great job. The painting and weathering you did made it look really good. That pig iorn paint color was interesting. I think the ladder rungs being lighter was a good idea but it did need darkening a wee bit. Your shingles looked very good for a first time attempt. After a few years of wear the shingles would be all uneven anyway. How you finished the peak of the water tower was a good idea. Not being an ass but the 01960 on the box is not the year it was made it's the zip code for the address. On the left of the box is the street name and number and on the right is the town, state, and zip. But you have an older kit based on the graphics and the way they are placed on the box. The end result looks great. Nice video. Stay well. 👍
LOL, Yeah, I wasn't sure about the year!! Thanks for the input!
Love the music, I assume you and some friends are playing? good stuff. Love the building series as well/ neat stuff. Thanks for sharing it
Yes, much of the music is my self and a friend or two who are much more talented then me! lol. Thanks for watching!!
