About 30 years ago, he'd be on a stage playing this in front of hundreds of people going crazy and wild, and here he is in a library playing for less than a 100 just appreciating him doing his thing, and he looks just as happy to just play anyways. Such a true musician at heart, what an awesome guy.
How many globally recognised guitarists can you imagine standing in a library with a can of lager having a sing along? #theonlybandthatmatters Thanks for the music Mick
@1982 ... me a 14 year old punk rocker sitting at the train station in Aberdeen Scotland. ( day after strummer ‘went missing ‘ prior to gig in my city) “Cheer up mate “ .... plectrum and a fiver ! Yes, it was the great man himself
I love him. Beautiful manners. Met him a few times when I worked in music biz. I can talk til the cows come home but I was rendered speechless when I met him first time. Shame joe has gone.
Mick, under your sand jacket, there's still a leather studded jacket. And, under that jacket, still beats a real punk heart. God bless you, my old Mate.
This video made me so sad... They did make the world of music a much better place, and now the legends are fading... It's so wonderful to see him this happy while doing what he does best
Love this guy! In 77 he changed my life, for the better, FOREVER! I saw The Clash play live 73 times between 77 and 82, those far off days still resonate in most everything I think and do. God Bless Mick, Paul, Topper and, (with a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat), +Joe+
Awesome! The Clash was such a big part of my life! Growing up here in western north carolina I was treated like some kind of asshole because I was listening to the Clash and Bob Marley during the late seventies. I loved my role as an outcast! Still do and I'm 58 now! Love you Mick Jones! You guys rocked the whole fucking world!!!!!!!
It's a style a lot of London musicians their age wear around town...Norman Wattroy,.kinda incognito not flash..understated...T.S.Eliot ,Jules Laforgue..that mob did the same.
They are two wildly different creative dogs with different approaches, but still the same brilliant and lovely honesty they brought out of each other. Lucky us.
yeah, 19 in 1980 - biking home with London Calling tucked under me arm, boot boy n all. Makes me feel good about getting old seen Mick here. Play our library Mick!
adventuresinbelieving I was 14 when London Calling came out in the US. Saved my money think the double album was less than $10 this was a good price then. Life changing to me and my best friend.
Saw BAD recently playing to a rather small crowd at Electric Picnic. Mick was in great form and looked like he couldn't care if there were only 5 people there. They played a great set and sounded amazingly fresh for an 80s band.
My brother used to subscribe to Creem magazine back in 1980 and I would read about this exaggerated feud between Led Zep fans and Clash fans, I had no idea who the Clash was. Then I heard "Train in Vain" on the radio in a store and I was transfixed, it sounded like a classic pop single from the 60s. When the DJ said it was The Clash I thought "so that's what those goofy looking yahoos in Creem magazine sound like, holy shit!'" Been a fan ever since, got to meet Strummer when he played with the Pogues on tour in NY, one of the high points of my life.
Had the pleasure of meeting mick in Dublin at a carbon silicon gig. Smashing bloke and a great show. What a fantastic musical legacy he has given us. Thanks so much mick.
I will be smiling all day because of this clip. He played Dublin last night, but I had already committed to playing a slot at a charity fundraiser gig. Played this in his honour. What a legend. See you next time Mick.
omg i frickin love this! To have played in arenas and crowds, then still hitting each note IN A LIBRARY, now THAT's how to grow old gracefully! Isabel this makes you a bad-ass for sharing this intimate show!
Thank you so much for posting this. I return to it several times over the years because it always cheers me up for some reason. Just seeing him there in that setting. So joyous and understated. Almost like a lullaby
After loving the Clash since 77 I went along to see Mick play a small gig with Carbon Silicon in my home town of Gloucester,UK in 2005...after the gig me and my brother got chatting to him.He was just so lovely....talking old Clash gigs and music...as we were going I just said....'Cheers Mick for all the good times'..he gave me a massive hug and said 'Oh darling thank you, glad you enjoyed it all'.....and gave me a kiss....made my life I can tell you:))xxxx
Mick Jones, God blessed you with such an abundance of talent. I'm so glad you're still overflowing with it and sharing it with us all, in yet another fantastic band! I seriously just love you, man. Thank you.
Man I want to see Mick today, Preacher Singer knew I loved this man for a reason when i was just a ladd. To bad i wouldn't have been so messed up to see the truth then but jammed all the same
Dare I say it one of the most intimate n phenomenal performances ever. I've seen most of the greats,n this is up there has mee greetin here in bonnie Scotland.incredible
Keep watching this on repeat. I just have so much admiration for Mick Jones and The Clash. Listening to this I'm very emotional. Bittersweet to be exact thanks for the upload... Cheers!
Amo tanto esse vídeo. Vez ou outra volto aqui e fico assistindo no repeat. Não sei se é porque me faz lembrar daquelas grandes e despretensiosas cenas cativantes com música do cinema.
Had the privilege of meeting meeting Mick when I had a Platers season ticket down the Rangers He came in to the C club bar I was totally star struck couldnt belive he'd give me the time of day but he chatted to me for most of the half time interval and that I can honestly say as a Rangers fan a lover of The Clash and the Dynamite Really Really made my day he is still working class approachble...Basically hes One of yer own!! U RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR'S!!!!!
Major Shout Out to my guy Mick Jones and The Clash!!! You’re one of my favorite bands and I’ve loved the Clash since 9th Grade. You made growing up in Bexley classic and this is on the Soundtrack any movie l would ever make. Much love to you Good Sir!!! Peace!!! 1 Love!!!
It's long past time that the true credit for the Clash be given to the man who deserves it most. I love Joe, but Mick Jones IS the Clash....he founded it, picked the members of it, wrote most the music and even produced the albums and singles. He's a gentle, humble soul who has always given way to the overwhelming personality of Strummer...but the truth is the truth, and The Clash was Jonesy's creation.
Mick Jones , chugging a can of Stella before playing train in vain in a library.. Beautiful.
chanceie12 I would go to libraries more often if they were all like this
I don't know if I agree , Jones down to playing at a library? He was a member of one of the best bands ever . Anyway nice to see him .
I feel like you don't know what "chugging" means.
@@12babyapes59 Music has no venue defined by your opinions.
I’m imagining a librarian lady saying “Shhhh”
Mick looks so happy here just playing his music. This man is my hero. God bless you Mick.
He is fucking awesome, I do concur :)
Fucking Legend, Joe's gone but something tells me this is in part in Joe's memory. Cheers Mick Stay Free
His BAD stuff was great too
Mine too ♥️
I agree,,,that is certainly Mick's style as opposed to Joe's edge with rock, less melodious

Playing in front of tens of thousands! Not hundreds.
I think the fact that one was a member of The Clash would make anyone happy and satisfied for a lifetime.
Try thousands! Awesome, he is the best.
Tens of thousands. Shea stadium full.
Considering how dirty he played Lou I wouldn't call him an awesome guy....
Mick Jones is a Punk Rock, Post Punk & Fusion music genius. Protect this man at all cost, he's an international treasure
we all love Mick Jones very much assaje
Couldn’t agree more, they just don’t make it like this anymore!
How many globally recognised guitarists can you imagine standing in a library with a can of lager having a sing along?
#theonlybandthatmatters
Thanks for the music Mick
same
Not very many.
Maybe Steve Marriot?
@1982 ... me a 14 year old punk rocker sitting at the train station in Aberdeen Scotland. ( day after strummer ‘went missing ‘ prior to gig in my city)

Isabela Cordaro thank you very much for filming and posting it! super cool
I love him. Beautiful manners. Met him a few times when I worked in music biz. I can talk til the cows come home but I was rendered speechless when I met him first time. Shame joe has gone.
Top bloke
Oh you know, just one of the greatest songwriters of the last 50 years playing a fantastic song in front of a tiny audience. No biggy.
Mick, under your sand jacket, there's still a leather studded jacket.
And, under that jacket, still beats a real punk heart.
God bless you, my old Mate.
Mick is so unaffected by fame and fortune. He’s an absolute joy to watch and must be an honour to know.
Had a smile on my face and was crying like a baby while watching this!!!!
God bless him. I hope he knows how much he and his music have touched the lives of people around the world. Thank you, Mick.
This video made me so sad... They did make the world of music a much better place, and now the legends are fading... It's so wonderful to see him this happy while doing what he does best
The real beauty of the music is that it's eternal.

OMG and here is me having seen them 15 times :)
WOW. That is impressive
Mick just comes over as a really lovely bloke in every interview I've watched. The man is great.

Jeff, I'm in Franklin. Are you close?
Lovely man. underrated guitarist. Changed the face of music with the clash and bad
the ''yeah man'' guy sounds like Strummer.
Go on pud lad
Kinda like the Clash Ringo?
Lol he so does
Time can truly sober up the rebels. He looks like an old bookstore owner, bless him.
1980Triumph Who the fuck cares...? The punk attitude remains
He spends a lot of his time browsing in a certain bookstore in West London (where my friend used to work).
It's a style a lot of London musicians their age wear around town...Norman Wattroy,.kinda incognito not flash..understated...T.S.Eliot ,Jules Laforgue..that mob did the same.

the fucking hero of punk lmL
Everytime I see this it puts a smile on my face. God bless you Mick.
A ledgend of British punk, with all the stories he Mick J can tell. It's fitting to play in a library.
Saw BAD recently playing to a rather small crowd at Electric Picnic. Mick was in great form and looked like he couldn't care if there were only 5 people there. They played a great set and sounded amazingly fresh for an 80s band.
I adore Mick Jones, The Clash, B.A.D and the whole shebang ❤️❤️❤️❤️
When he hit the first cord I had to grin. We listened to that song in 1979 until the needle broke.
Outstanding the music did not age wow 😮 🤔😃wow I go back play music again
I can't believe he did this in a library but, what a song...
+John Cusato it was an exhibition about him and his memorabilia in portobello road, london.
This blasts me back to 1986 while I was a freshman in college listening to the clash on tapes. What a time and I’m so happy to have experienced that.
Just saw Mick live tonight in Nashville, Tennessee! He's amazing and has definitely earned to be in the Songwriters Hall of Fame!
In tears here.
Wish he was in my library.

YES YS YES!!!
GO MICK HE'S DOING IT FOR JOE
Yeah Man's "yeah man" was great at 0:54. Fit perfectly.
Drinking stella in the library ,snortin with kate moss ,still a rebel ,absoulute legend .
Old School Rave Sounds
That's not exactly rebellious behaviour among celebs. (The sniffing bit, not playing guitar in a library).
I can't stop smiling at this. Love you Mick!
I remember buying London Calling from woolworths. Played it to death.
Thanks Mick
Greatest band EVER! I do not have too many regrets in life, but not seeing them live is a deep regret of mine.

At 53, I've seen The Clash seven times in four counties over the years. Thank you Mick for being an integral part of our live's beautiful sountrack!
