I’ve been looking for property to use as an RV basecamp and maybe using for income as you had mentioned in your video. My wife and I are retired and in the process of purchasing a motorhome in the next few months. Florida has been a favorite spot and have visited the gulf coast for years. All the best to you.

(Random observations:) You are very humble if you call yourselves average. I have a two car garage and twenty years ago it became crowded with our stuff, so I put up a 40 x 60 steel building, which is also pretty full now. My trophies are also in boxes. The shot of McAfee Knob looks slippery. Maybe I should get a rooster or two for my buff orpington hens; I could use a little help protecting them from the varmints. Hydroponics have always interested me, but the midwest soil is the envy of other states, so I just go with it. Call me old fashioned. I recently canoed the nearby Maumee River and decided that a kayak might be a better vessel for such future activity. Trish looks healed now. Keep living the good life.

Watching again. I like what Rob says about "time that you can't get back you can make money but not get the time back" are words of wisdom. You are lucky to have each other who support the decision to downsize, minimalize. Me, tired of the congestion and population increase to the TB area -----so I envy where you're at. Visited the Big Bend/Panhandle area recently is it is different than my part of FL.
what you said really hit home. i am a nurse and i turn 67 next month. i thought about letting go and i am afraid. plus we have a great camper we hardly get to go anywhere. when you said your profession was your identity. that hit me like a ton of bricks.

We believe today a 1 acre lot would cost approx 25k and setting up the lot for 1 RV could cost approx 10-15k. A property near us already completed for RV living sold for 49k. Hope this helps. I remember your son graduating and going off to college. I remember you preparing on the QT to leave your professional lives for this “crazy” idea you had. And the AT. Glad to see you folks back love you videos I just wondering if you could answer kinda just about how much and what does an acre of a land cost in Taylor County.? I was trying to look them up but I have nothing from that area and is the electrical expensive
1 acre can range from 10 to 20k at the time of our purchase. Electrical was a permit cost only but we did the ground work for underground wires. Check Zillow and scan around Taylor County area. Thank you so much for watching Herman.
My husband and I took a month to look around Taylor County near the beach. The price of the land has nearly doubled in the last couple of years (near the beach). You can get cheaper property four or five miles from the coast but much of it is in a flood zone. I found the flood zone map for Taylor County on the Property Shark website. The people at the zoning office in Taylor County are very helpful and will go out of their way to give you any assistance you need.

Glad to see a video from you guys. I thought maybe you decided to stop making videos. In about a month we will be coming very close to you. We winter in Florida and when we come down we usually travel near you on Hwy 98. We stay in Orlando part of the time and then travel out from there. Hope to see more videos from you in the near future. We also have a Tiffin motorhome, ours is a 2011 34TGA. I like to say we part time in it, we are in Florida about 6 months of the year.
Just love your videos and this one really hit hard. We will be living full time in RVs in 2023 (6 months at home in our town of Gatineau, Quebec then 6 months somewhere in Florida for winter). Loved when you talk about trophies and personal objects. Since we already have started downsizing, I takes pictures of the stuff I really loved then it's easy to sell or get rid of them. I'm into old pictures now and digitizing everything since we won't bring them , except a few. Been also been doing picture books. This way, looking at our trips and family in books makes it a lot easier to look at those memories. Since we will have to buy 2 RVs full time, lots of research going on right now and we want to buy our first one in August or September 2021 to experience RVing in the summer of 2022 because that will become our home. Lots to think about for sure. Happy you guys decided this freedom lifestyle and hope to meet you one day. Lived seeing Robert also be your first guest.

I guess we will need to visit Taylor county. After living in Brooksville off the Withlacoochee forest for 4 years now I’m sure we can live in an area like you found. We are humid during the middle of the summer which last about three months. Much different than Southern Florida. We normally work on the homestead in the earlier morning and evenings to stay out of the hotter and more humid part of the day.

Great to see you back on CZcams! My parent live near that area in Lafayette and Swannee country. Love seeing what you are doing with he homestead. I started doing some hydroponic gardening in a NFT similar to yours earlier this year. What are you using a nutrient solution? I have had lots of things grow and produce good but no so much with tomatoes the fruit never seems to set.
We had the same problem with our tomato growth. Great growth but few fruits. Still trying to figure out how to solve this problem. We have used several different nutrients but we ended up using Masterblend 4-18-38 complete combo kit. Thank you so much for watching. Let us know if you find the tomato solution Ken :)

Watching again. I like what Rob says about "time that you can't get back you can make money but not get the time back" are words of wisdom. You are lucky to have each other who support the decision to downsize, minimalize. Me, tired of the congestion and population increase to the TB area -----so I envy where you're at. Visited the Big Bend/Panhandle area recently is it is different than my part of FL.

what you said really hit home. i am a nurse and i turn 67 next month. i thought about letting go and i am afraid. plus we have a great camper we hardly get to go anywhere. when you said your profession was your identity. that hit me like a ton of bricks.

We believe today a 1 acre lot would cost approx 25k and setting up the lot for 1 RV could cost approx 10-15k. A property near us already completed for RV living sold for 49k. Hope this helps. Glad to see you folks back love you videos I just wondering if you could answer kinda just about how much and what does an acre of a land cost in Taylor County.? I was trying to look them up but I have nothing from that area and is the electrical expensive
1 acre can range from 10 to 20k at the time of our purchase. Electrical was a permit cost only but we did the ground work for underground wires. Check Zillow and scan around Taylor County area. Thank you so much for watching Herman.
My husband and I took a month to look around Taylor County near the beach. The price of the land has nearly doubled in the last couple of years (near the beach). You can get cheaper property four or five miles from the coast but much of it is in a flood zone. I found the flood zone map for Taylor County on the Property Shark website. The people at the zoning office in Taylor County are very helpful and will go out of their way to give you any assistance you need.
Any property left up there? We’ve looked all over Florida. Prices have skyrocketed.

What do you do during hurricanes?
Because we live in our RV, we would travel to safety. Any belongings we can not take are stored in a water tight 40ft shipping container which is so heavy it would take a CAT5 hurricane to move it. Hope this helps. Thank you so much watching!

Glad to see a video from you guys. I thought maybe you decided to stop making videos. In about a month we will be coming very close to you. We winter in Florida and when we come down we usually travel near you on Hwy 98. We stay in Orlando part of the time and then travel out from there. Hope to see more videos from you in the near future. We also have a Tiffin motorhome, ours is a 2011 34TGA. I like to say we part time in it, we are in Florida about 6 months of the year.

Just love your videos and this one really hit hard. We will be living full time in RVs in 2023 (6 months at home in our town of Gatineau, Quebec then 6 months somewhere in Florida for winter). Loved when you talk about trophies and personal objects. Since we already have started downsizing, I takes pictures of the stuff I really loved then it's easy to sell or get rid of them. I'm into old pictures now and digitizing everything since we won't bring them , except a few. Been also been doing picture books. This way, looking at our trips and family in books makes it a lot easier to look at those memories. Since we will have to buy 2 RVs full time, lots of research going on right now and we want to buy our first one in August or September 2021 to experience RVing in the summer of 2022 because that will become our home. Lots to think about for sure. Happy you guys decided this freedom lifestyle and hope to meet you one day. Lived seeing Robert also be your first guest.

Do you have a safe place to go during a hurricane there in Florida?
Depending on the direction of the hurricane, we would pack up our shipping container and drive our home away. We have made the trip to Alabama in the past to get clear. Thank you so much for reaching out to us!

I guess we will need to visit Taylor county. After living in Brooksville off the Withlacoochee forest for 4 years now I’m sure we can live in an area like you found. How humid is it, for how many months a year or is it humid all the time?
We are humid during the middle of the summer which last about three months. Much different than Southern Florida. We normally work on the homestead in the earlier morning and evenings to stay out of the hotter and more humid part of the day.

Great to see you back on CZcams! My parent live near that area in Lafayette and Swannee country. Love seeing what you are doing with he homestead. I started doing some hydroponic gardening in a NFT similar to yours earlier this year. What are you using a nutrient solution? I have had lots of things grow and produce good but no so much with tomatoes the fruit never seems to set.
We had the same problem with our tomato growth. Great growth but few fruits. Still trying to figure out how to solve this problem. We have used several different nutrients but we ended up using Masterblend 4-18-38 complete combo kit. Thank you so much for watching. Let us know if you find the tomato solution Ken :)

If you want to find a way to make walking away from your career easier, work for a corporation that does not value its people at all and never allows meaningful input from the employees. I would love to hear more about your hydroponic garden. This is something that my brother and I are thinking of pursuing.
