As a teacher, I have watched students “change” their gender identity because a charismatic person who believes in this dysphoria, or has gotten the attention they were seeking, talked them into it. Especially the student who do not “fit in to a popular group”.

The students' protest and attempt to get the teacher fired raise questions about the boundaries of activism. While it's important to encourage student engagement, it's equally important to ensure that it doesn't lead to intimidation or fear-based tactics that stifle free expression and academic discourse.
Students often forget they are there to be educated because they know next to nothing and teachers often forget they are there to teach the curriculum or subject while leaving their politics, beliefs, lifestyles and opinions at home.
I was fortunate enough to have a handful of inspiring teachers from grade school to college who sought only to produce inquisitive-minded students with the tools needed to navigate this chaotic life. None of them ever tried to impose their ways upon me nor I upon them. They taught, I listened and absorbed.

As students do everything possible to confuse their apparent gender, why are they surprised that not everybody uses their "preferred pronoun"? They are androgynous. Do they expect all of us to keep a list of every one of these sick students' preferred gender? I'm at the point where I just say "hey you'.
I work in a high school, and during classes and in the hallways, you hear people using the f word like it was free oxygen. Now, if we adults teachers and assistants used the F-word, we can get fired, but they can't get scolded. You have to leave them alone. Don't talk about it, pretend you don't hear it.
