Thanks to your excellent explanation I am now looking forward to applying my new understanding on how to use temperature, hue, value and intensity to create the colours for any dirt road.
I'm paying close attention to your palette knife - I see you don't get paint on the top side and I see the tip of the knife is not a point. I think I may be using too small a knife for my mixing and will try larger sizes. The knife is the interface of controlling the palette. I'm finally understanding the value of controlling the palette after years of being a wild mess there. It certainly is a journey ;)
