    It was very enjoyable listening to Mr. Woo talk about Minolta cameras, a brand that I've always had a soft spot for. Back in the 70’s I managed to save enough money to buy a Minolta XD11. It was a fantastic camera that served me well for two decades. Then I began using rangefinders. A few years ago I added a Minolta CLE to the mix which I use when I want to get my Minolta fix.

    Another outstanding video. The X-700 was my first self bought camera in 1983 and I love it to this day with many memorable pictures taken. Would love to hear from Mr. Woo which particular Japan brand lenses were close to Leica glass in terms of image magic and quality.

    I was waiting for this... excellent, thank you. The Maxxum 7000 was my first serious camera. I won contests with the photos taken by it! Minolta was often overshadowed by the larger brands at least in North America, but they always had the best technology and some great lenses too! Cheers!

    In Minolta xd series they called the adjustments in exposure 'program shift'.
    The X700 was fixed with a 'lubricant impregnated' lens mount. Minolta supplied Accumatt screens not only to Hasselblad but also to leica. Minolta is a camera in which loading film in the take-up spools is far easy. Waiting for AF Minolta videos.

    Loved the video - Minolta during my early years was to say the least under appreciated.

    Severely underrated brand! I love minolta and it is so easy to get and get on with, though the latter may be my opinion 😅

    Please make a video about Rokkor lenses as well..

    One of these srt-101s is in my shop right now with the big 58mm rokkor lens, the non radioactive kind! It’s quite pricy compared to a sl35 I have been looking at to replace my OM-1N but I feel I will regret not buying it for the lens alone

    Didn't Minolta colaborate with Leica on the Leica CL? A very nice compact taking all the M lenses? Then i believe on came out with a Minolta badge and their lenses.

      Correct.

      Leica CL - mechanical compact rangefinder with a meter arm for off the film plane metering.
      Minolta CLE - Improved version with aperture priority AE and better film loading system.
      The CLE came later after Leica realized the CL was eating into its Leica M sales too much. It was from a features and design perspective ahead of Leica, who finally caught up years later with the M7. Still one of the most affordable ways into Leica M film lenses, although repair for the electronics is hard.

      @jonathans.9372 Thanks for the history.
      I handled one 20years ago, but didn't have a chance to shoot it.
      It was a very nice camera!

      @@jonathans.9372 were the lenses made by Minolta? I recall that Minolta had a vertically integrated business model, and manufactured in-house its own lenses, in contrast with most of its competitors.
