I like this conceptually and im going to try it. No crash gybe which could be crazy in high winds in a larger boat. Just broad reach down past them and tack back up in front of them. Thats really it.

All pilots and all surgical disciplines require so many hours undertaking maneuevers, proceedures for a reason. Whilst I understand your sentiment, one can only improve or remind oneself of where such things might fail even when familiar, particularly when others are involved. I'm guilty too BTW.

WAY, WAY TOO SLOW. Easiest, and fastest way is to deploy MOB float with line, and make a full circle to reach the person and grabs the float and pull he/she back in. Takes seconds.

There are so many ways to deal with a MOB - some easier than others - a lot depends on the ability of the helmsman or skipper - your suggestion is a good one, if the MOB is conscious - the reach/tack/reach method also has its place and is a good technique to learn
