Also, I highly respect folder enthusiasts with something to prove. I personally wouldn't sink that much money into a Brompton though, I don't have that much to burn haha.
I found a very stable and light aluminum frame with ISO 451 wheels a few months back that I threw 42/56t chainrings and a 11-28t 10-speed cassette at, just to laugh at people who think folders are all slow. So much fun to take off like a rocket at lights and then just stay fast.
Sometimes the big-wheels are still arrogant enough to block directly in front of me when they catch me at a long light, even if they were a few dozen seconds behind (I certainly wasn't blocking them being able to pass lol, but they sure do when they force ahead of me hahaha). All they do is get in my way, making me have to duck into traffic to avoid them on my way back into the bike lane (or stay with the cars for a block or two to get past them).
Keep fighting the small-wheel fight.
It's funny... I don't even see SunRace as a terrible company for affordable cassettes and the like. Didn't expect such a close relationship with Brompton all the way to today.... But perhaps it's not surprising.
Brompton seems to relish in using non-standard solutions, it seems like an anti-competition move.
I believe Brompton is a fan of Apple as it does the same kind of bad business model, where you get stuck with only what they make so they can get money from you on every end. Hence why they made the Brompton Junction and specific/unique parts.
Going from a 12t sprocket to an 11t one does not increase the gear inches by 20%, but only by 9%.
Agreed. It was going from 50 to 60 on the chainwheel that got me the 20% gain.
So you recommend a 60 tooth chainring for ultimate speed? I love everything by H&H. Do they make large 60T single chainring? I like having only rear gears and a fixed front chainring. What would you recommend for the rear cog for maximum speed to go with the 60T chainring? I love your channel. You're so smart.
I doubt they make a 60t, but a 56 is not far off. The Brompton rear hub will not take anything below 11t, but there are custom hubs that can take 10 and even 9. You will have to shop around.
How can a 33t front combo chainring work when the chain touches the rear triangle with a 11t sprocket. I have a p line with 38t/48t front ring and when on 38t it just by millimetres misses
A good number of people have made it work. There is info on those online. Ultimately, Brompton should have done the engineering.
Your Brompton outruns any road bike? Well, I think you forgot a little something: You need the legs to ride it! 😂 Hillarious! (thumbs down)
Watch the 'humiliations' playlist for proof.
When I bought my 2019 SuperlightM6LXBrompton in 2019, I honestly didn't know for what use I had the 3 low gears till I met an absurd hill on Danish Bornholm, and had to walk on top, going up!
But 12 gears I would find totally absurd, complicated to use and rather useless for the very limited speed range of a Brompton, and for the very few times I would need gears outside my range. And if so I could ad an extra chainring in front, to get 12 possible gears!
I would much more like to ad a straight Chinese, 7 speed chain-gear wheel and a shifter, which it is possible to add on a standard Brompton frame/triangle. They are easy to find from web shops in China, delivering to Europe.
And much less complicated than buying anything from the UK, after the brilliant idea of Brexit! Finn. Denmark
It makes sense that Brompton are trying to protect sturmey archer because the buy lots of parts but it is only a matter of time when Brompton will realise that belt drive system is the future, year on year with other manufacturers who make touring, electric, mountain bikes a couple of years back were only 5% now few years later 30% pretty soon will overtake chain systems, you mentioned a hub which is only a couple of of millimetres difference can you elaborate on that hub in future video please.
I shall. It is a Shimano.
@@SmallWheelWonder will look forward to watching that video, actually I like watching all your videos,
Bashing Brompton is pointless.
Look at:
*Kinetic Cycles, based in Glasgow UK. Owner Ben Cooper makes triangles and forks to accommodate these alternative IGHs & disc brakes.
*Van Eerder Metal, based in EU offers options similar to Kinetic, inc derailleur options.
Already mentioned.
don't know why you keep suggesting changing sprockets so much. It changes the spacing of the gears so your cadence will be all messed up. That's why companies like Brommie plus recommend only certain combinations in their 3 sprocket kits. Anyway, I don't think the factory 12 speed is as big a joke as you say.
Modifying the gears ⚙️ is not for beginners 😞
Stop messing about with bromptons. And get a Tern verge X range. The greatest folders ever made. Too many people seduced by these overpriced overrated Bromptons. An X20 or X11 blows them all away..
Nice of you to add a corrected video, but still full of issues. "Beat any roadbike"... If it was carbon fibre, aero, large wheels, low position yet definitely. Oh wait, that's a road bike and not a tiny trifold...
Check out my humiliations playlist and see how my tiny trifold beats them all.
@@SmallWheelWonder YOU beat them. Your trifold didn't. If you cloned yourself which do you think will win? You on an aero road bike or you on a trifold?
@@SmallWheelWonder Wait... is that an electric bike?
700 Watts.
Your funny...,your electric Brompton can out run any road bike 🧐 does it also out run any electric road bike 🤔..., Would you like to hold my cold larger....!!!
I've never encountered an electric road bike in NYC. Roadies consider it below their dignity ;-) I do outrun all speed restricted e-bikes limited to 45 KMH or less.
@@SmallWheelWonder I reside in England my friend & i ride a Merida Reacto 4000 disc 2020 custom build areo road bike, Ultegra full mechanical R9020 hydraulic groupset, R8000 clipless pedals & my wheel set are 50mm carbon Prime Black Edition rims with all the bells & whistles on em for example 160mm Ultegra roters, thru axels & all wrapped up in latex tubes encased in a set of 28mm Continental Gp5000s tyre's & the only other added feature is my saddle which is a Specialised carbon printed affair that's a win, win for me..,now as for these Brompton electric bike dude's who truly believe that they can out pace me on my bike you really can't make this shit up as it's just so 🤣😂😅🤣😂😅, deep breath 😅🤣😂🤣😂😅....!!!
Yeah he is a joker. .When I
first heard about this guy talking about going 35mph on a Brompton. I thought he was crazy. Then we find out he is cheating on a powerful electric Brompton.
And he thinks that's something special. More impressive is the fact that people using their own leg power could even get close to him. They impressed me alot more.
It would be like him trying to catch someone on a Surron. He would get smoked.
@@fender1000100 Exactly, I was truly interested in his videos until I found that it's just an ebike. I'm was super into it thinking that brommies somehow could achieve speeds that fast with a few mods (except electric) but no. I like electric, but I'm looking for non-electric solutions only.
When we go to the electric route, there's jetsonl bolt pros that get up to 120km/h (75mph). Even some eScooters get that fast or even more easily, with their teeny tiny wheels.
