    ok a question on this Mike.
    any back and forth about the brick used or a simple concrete curb to elevate the grate?
    reason i ask is that many old grates at commercial parking lots in this area were final adjusted with bricks and seem to have fall in problems sooner than the ones with a concrete approach.
    my guess is that the erosive water flows that concentrate in a large drain and the weather are eroding the brick and bedding faster.

    • @MikeHaduck
      @MikeHaduck  Před 6 lety

      Hi pensive, I would say it depends on the brick, these were dense and did not absorb water, almost like glass, but I understand the concern, thanks mike

    Great vid again Mike thanks. Where can I go to find info on building with stone? Books and other? I asked around to local masons and engineers but I can't seem to get a straight answer. I got some books out of the library but nothing on local codes. There is nothing in local code books about stone structures but there are a good amount of them in and around town. Any idea on where to turn? Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Matt

      Hi Matt, I was just at the tail end of the way they use to build those buildings, but new school is cheaper and faster so those are left behind in the dust, with the earthquake and new building codes It only applies the the new, just the way things have gone, check out my video, Limestone caps,carving,plaining (tomassetti stone co) Mike Haduck, I show some old school books at the end they used for old school buildings, I hope it helps, thanks mike

    Newbie question.. are the holes in the brick for rebar ?

    • @MikeHaduck
      @MikeHaduck  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi Psycho, They started adding holes to decrease weight during shipping and use less product to make the brick, now we just use more cement to lay them, thanks mike
