La energía que le ponen a esta canción recorre ni cuerpo, es una sensasion increíble! No sera un éxito o la mas popular pero lo que provocan en mi es inexplicable, super canción!
Richard really does beat the shit out of Will doesn't he?! Thanks for posting this. I've only ever seen No Cars Go from this performance. One of the greatest bands of all time.
blown away again, went to see them again last night for the second time and they blow the roof of the men arena. they where out of this world, the whole crowd was on their feet by the second song. thank you arcade fire for what was a brilliant night.
It really is perfect though. And amazing. It sounds just like this on the album. She kinda rules, sings like this and plays drums and accordion. Like... WHAT?! Coolest chick ever. Period.
well realistically no one in arcade fire has a traditionally great singing voice but that's part of their appeal. In my opinion the 3:01 mark in this video are some of the best vocals I've ever heard. Just listen to the intensity. Technically trained vocals would ruin this music. I mean it was david byrne who said that the better a singer's voice the harder it is to believe what they're singing.
I guess im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a tool to log back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot my password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me.
@Brayden Mustafa Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
They were at Rock en Seine again this year and I saw them, it was EPIC! "Wake Up" was echoing all over the place while the rain was pouring down... it was just epic, one of the best moment of my life.
@MegaBILLYBOB66 I was at the same gig and it was unreal. I've never seen a band capable of such technical, thoughtful music, delivered with such ferosity. Outstanding performance by an incredible band. I have to confess that I was stood up from the first bar of Ready to Start until the final bow after The Suburbs!
When I listen to this song I hear The Decemberists, The Who, and Kram. It is not bitter, nor is it sweet, it is not mediocre. It is truth. It is emotion… And I love it all. :D
My favorite Arcade Fire song...although Neighborhood 1 is really really good too (and Rebellion...ok never mind I like they all!). Brilliant combination of sounds, and their intensity is very usual
WHAT A BAND!... Seriously, perhaps I like a little bit more a couple of other bands, but the Arcade surely are great, for me, one of the best three bands of the 2000's ... And they are kind of crazy when playing... Im in love with them
I was at the show, it was just amazing. they put so much energy in their music, with Richard and Will fooling around and still be able to play their part in rythm, they almost put everyone on their knees in the audience. remember in one of the song Richard played to make the cymbal fall just to drive the technician mad. seeing this poor guy going onstage, put the cymbal up just to have richard throw it down again as soon as he turn his back was so hilarious and yet so sad for him.
This song was based on a true story of Christopher Johnson McCandless, also known by the pseudonym Alexander Supertramp (Alex). After graduating from college in 1990, McCandless traveled across North America and eventually hitchhiked to Alaska in April 1992. McCandless is the subject of Into the Wild, a nonfiction book by Jon Krakauer that was later made into a full-length feature film.
Funeral will always be my favorite by them. It's like a friend to me. Whereas their newer stuff reminds me of my past experiences and regret them - which is cool in it's own regard, but Funeral will always be there to make me scream, cry, and to make me feel empowered.
There might be nothing in this world that makes me happier than watching this video. (And yes, great sex is considered). I think it crystallizes what Arcade Fire were at at that moment and what they were becoming. Something inexpressible. Something glorious. Something wonderful. That they had the presence of mind to get a video document that was so exquisitely shot and brilliantly edited to capture the seminal moment is one of art history's great fortunes. Look at Win. He couldn't care less what's going on around him. It points up what's so comically perfect about these antics between Richard and Will. They highlight how Win never, ever pays the least bit of attention to anyone else on stage while performing. It's as if these two are going to whatever extreme they can imagine to get the attention of their big brother (well, in Will's case anyway) and still failing. All that's left is to rub out the frustration with sticks on each other's heads. Would be funny in its own right, but since they're accompanied by the screw-loose tidings of "Laika", the percussive / concussive antics are compositionally vital.
Oh my gosh! Those two guys running around beating up each other look like they are having the time of their lives! THIS is why I love Arcade Fire. Their live shows are incredible. :)
I don't know, but I like both Muse and Arcade Fire. Both are pretty much in the same place of my top 5. By the way, this is completely beautiful. The instruments sound better live. Damn, such emotion. I love this.
my love for this song is just inexpressible
Will and Richard should have their own wrestling show
Now they have boxing ring like stage :)
How about some horse riding?
Probably the best live version of this song on CZcams! The Reading 2007 version is also awesome.
check out Reading 2010 as well
Conan O Brian is my fave :)
Real musicians, playing real instruments, and using their heads to create something original and listenable! Thank you!
I love how the intensity of Règine's voice at 3:00
their music has such a profound sound, I love it.
Beautiful song. What a spiritual catharsis.
they are just like that
they are so into it
it is what makes them amazing
Fucking beautiful performance!! With Owen Pallett on the violin.
I miss these Arcade Fire
they blow now, ever since that grammy
La energía que le ponen a esta canción recorre ni cuerpo, es una sensasion increíble! No sera un éxito o la mas popular pero lo que provocan en mi es inexplicable, super canción!

Come on Alex, you can do it!
Man, this is far more brutal than Slipknot O___O
I will never get over this :D

WHAT A BAND!... Seriously, perhaps I like a little bit more a couple of other bands, but the Arcade surely are great, for me, one of the best three bands of the 2000's ... And they are kind of crazy when playing... Im in love with them

those percussionists rock my world. One plays the other. I love it!

This is a masterpiece.
Funeral will always be my favorite by them. It's like a friend to me. Whereas their newer stuff reminds me of my past experiences and regret them - which is cool in it's own regard, but Funeral will always be there to make me scream, cry, and to make me feel empowered.
Saw them at Memphis yesterday. BEST LIVE PERFORMANCE I'VE EVER SEEN.
I have to see them live!
The intro brings me to tears... They are so wonderful. I can't wait Succubs.
A very underrated song. And what a great performance!
Best gig I saw last year was these guys. By far.
