  • This amp needed the maintenance one gives to a 20 year old amp. It had already been worked on once before... and they did the bare minimum to make it work. This time it gets major surgery, so it can go for as LONG as possible without being on a tech bench.

Wow, you found a good one! All the worst practices Fender ever conjured along with the worst practices of Peavey thrown in for good measure. God bless you, man, God bless you!

The accountants were selecting the parts for this one... and I think the board layout/chassis layout team were seeking revenge on the repair department. I just hope that everything holds, since I don't want to have to go back in this one any time soon.

My son's has been at the shop for months now. The tech guy loaned him a Mesa to use while he worked on son's Super Concert Reverb. Son digs the Mesa so much he hasn't been too worried. Mesa is worth about 4 times the value of the Reverb so there's that. He does miss the tremolo though.

There's more broken amps than there are techs to fix them. I stay "underground" with no adverts out there telling of my ability to fix things... yet word gets out, and I'm backed up also. If you notice, I'm a "ninja" online too... I don't want to make a fuss about my repair shop.

@@DeadKoby His concert reverb started acting up during a show. The lightning show of which you allude too was EXACTY what his amp was doing. It also has that 60 cycle hum that is a bummer.

Never fun when something blows up. MOST mass market amp makers are doing everyone dirty by building stuff that's darn tough to work on. I've gotten some more "boutique" stuff here at the shop... the problems were easy, and the amp wasn't a chore to get started on.

Thank you... The biggest challenge with this thing is.... you have to work so hard to get it apart, that you'd BETTER get it all before re-assembling. It's at least an hour of goofing around to get the board out.
