Samsung's newest flagship smartwatch is here, and it's not hard to see what its main competition is. Even though it was released a year ago, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra and the Apple Watch 2 Ultra have a lot in common. Both the Galaxy Watch Ultra and the Apple Watch 2 Ultra carry large batteries, but the Watch Ultra's is slightly larger at 590mAh compared to the Watch 2 Ultra's 564mAh. Even so, the Galaxy Watch Ultra is one of the most compelling Wear OS watches ever made and may be the catalyst for yet more rugged Android-powered alternatives to the Apple Watch Ultra.

Kind of a no brainer for me. It was $650 with instant $50 rebate so $600. Then they gave me $350 for my pro 5. Total was $250. I paid $375 for my pro from best buy a week after it came out on a restock sooooo all good.
If you order the watch Ultra along with the Z6, Sam will only give you 25% off and there is no option for a trade-in.
If you order it separately, you will have the option to trade-in. Makes no sense, but Ill probably order them separately. Not happy about the Ultras battery life. As advertised its a step back from the pro. Rakuten is also offering 12% off.

I have both the black and stainless version of the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.
Gave up the black one for the $300 trade in credit. Plus, an extra $50 for ordering through the Samsung shop app. $299 for the ultra was kind of a no-brainer. I'm looking forward to it.

Conclusion: if you have an iPhone get ultra 2, if you have an Android get 7 ultra 😂
and if your budget is tight, get neither 😅
the galaxy 7 watch has most of the features if not the premium extras and polish, but it would be less of a hit to your wallet.
but there are still even cheaper options out there by different brands. but whether they are accurate or not is another question. so if you just want a smart watch that is more likely to work rather than give random inaccurate readings, then the base model galaxy 7 watch is a safe bet.
if you want that premium polish and have the budget, then you can't go wrong with the watch 7 ultra if you have a samsung phone (i think you need S22 or above?) to pair it with and your into the android ecosystem.
Or if you are into the apple ecosystem, then go for the Ultra 2 instead.
@jmansoto2324 If you have an iPhone, then I would change the phone to Galaxy phone (not Android phones) and get Galaxy watch 7 Ultra and change the whole ecosystems.

i ordered a galaxy 7 ultra for myself to pair with my s24 ultra. hopefully i don't regret xd.
One notable difference, Apple ultra can do swimming and diving.
Saw an add for the 7 Ultra used in swimming, but i'm doubtful it really should be used for that. Probably safer to assume it's not for that or you may end up damaging your smartwatch. Or at least wait for the reviews doing the tests.
In that sense the apple is already proven for diving. Someone even recently recovered an apple ultra from the sea after a year of being lost.
Android I would get a garmin
The Galaxy Gear watch also used these design cues years ago. Years before the Ultra Apple watch.

Galaxy watch ultra has more similarities with Apple Watch Ultra than galaxy gear sports, including colour of the dial, buttons, band style. Same goes for galaxy bud 3 pro.
The watch you are talking about released in 2017 (2015 model of Gear Sport was circular like regular galaxy watch).

* There are only 2 options for watches: Circle or Square.
* Orange and Black go together, that's the color composition out of the book. Just look at everything else, I literally just browsing Facebook marketplace and saw car's interior for sale that's orange and black.
* Noticed in recent designs, every company kind of keep the same design for years? There isn't a lot of options left
So, if you want more space for other hardware, the watch needs to be bigger but rectangle is more efficient whilst circle is nicer. If they increased the watch's size and maintain a circle, it'll look ridiculous. Then titanium chassis, it pretty much has to have a orange and black design. Also, while writing this, I just remember AMD CPU box, which was first introduced in 2017, it was dark grey and orange. Actually that's AMD's color to begin with.
Also, who cares if they copying. Go back to the last two decades, who's copying whom? And why is that a problem for the end users, why should the end users care? I'm kind of sick of all these fan boys and internet opinions. But I just can't avoid since I can't stop using the internet. BTW, I have both Samsung and Apple products. 2 MacBook Pro M1 & M1 Max, iPhone and iPad + Pencil 2, Samsung Z Fold, Tab S8 Ultra. I actually have more Apple products than Samsung.

I just ordered mine - and subsequently found out that the new Watch 7 series does NOT support reverse charging from the phone (S24 Ultra) and they highly recommend only to use the original charging puck and not the older pucks from like Watch 6 Classic (which I'm trading in) - due to heating issues - Not sure if this is really an upgrade ?!? 🤔 but I got an amazing deal which was hard to pass up . . . we'll see when I get it in my hands 🤲
the squirkle watch bezel looks like it should rotate
I don't think they will ever use the rotating bezel on a rugged watch. It is a moving bezel that uses mechanical parts, which could easily break if the watch is used like intended.
Pre-order mine yesterday, with the $50 discount and the $350 trade in for my Classic 6.......$400 discount. Sweet! I can't wait to have the 7 Ultra and pair it with my S24 Ultra.

I wear AW ultra 1 and use iphone 14 pro. I also have a fold 4. Now ive pre-ordered fold 6, buds pro 3 and GW ultra. I will only use my AWU during daily jog and use the GWU during work.
I have ordered the Samsung Ultra I own the Pixel Fold I may not get all the benefits of the watch but the fact is it's a great looking watch

I used to have Samsung S3 frontier for 8 years, my kids have apple 9, but recently i got the Huawei smart watch ultimate support diving too, i started to forget about charging my watch, 12 days of battery life is something worth the buy, I don't care about tiny mini small additional technical differences.
I pre ordered for the new HR sensor and bigger battery. In comparison GW7Ultra is a GW5pro with 3 buttons, larger screen other than newish internals. Apple Watch ultra 2 64g of storage more pixels. Hopefully Samsung will do their part to acquire the best software for outdoor exploration...offline maps

I have heard only 1 foreign reviewer mention that as the Galaxy Watch Ultra is an LTE watch, the battery on LTE watches do not go as long as non LTE watches. Samsung's website also mentions that this watch is BT+LTE. The Watch 7 is either BT or BT+LTE
I'm not sure why it is that the foreigner reviews are saying that the Ultra is ONLY LTE version... on the samsung website, it says (Bluetooth / Wifi + 4G LTE | Wifi)

Samsung should have kept it all square for more screen real-state rather than making it cicle in a square body.

@@BruceDragon-sf1tr i had the Zfold 3 and even that needed up getting a dead pixel due to dust getting into the screen I didn’t even take it to any dusty places apart from the pocket not to mention the camera was garbage. Quite literally the only thing I miss from droid is split screen

I don’t suffer from amnesia, Samsung was in the game way before apple. Back in 2014 I bought the Samsung Gear S, which was not Samsungs first smartwatch and that was before apple made the first apple watch in 2015.
The Gear S was a great watch that easily outmatched the first apple watch.
I gave my Apple Ultra Watch (the first one) back because I could not bear to carry chargers everywhere I go and plug this into every corner of the world if I needed it charged. So, it's not worth it. Like every other device, I would probably look into smartwatches that can charge with USB C.

I used to use GW 4 classic for two years but tired of charging the battery every 24hrs so I switched to the Venu 3 by Garmin, although I have never been Garmin's fan. Now I enjoy 7-9 battery life. Will I turn back to Samsung and buy Galaxy watch Ultra? I don't think so. And yes, the start price for the Galaxy Ultra is extremely heavy.
I'm a big dude and even the 47mm looks like a girls watch on me. I'd definitely buy the Samsung Ultra if they went to a 50mm display. There's no way I'm upgrading my 47mm Watch 6 classic for this version of Ultra.
Hopefully, the Samsung Watch Ultra doesn't overheat like my Samsung Watch 5 Pro lte.

Hate when tech reviewers don't do their homework first. The orange strap, orange action button, and boxy frame were first introduced 10 years ago on the Samsung Galaxy Gear. The orange rugged perforated strap was introduced on the Galaxy Gear 2. Do better before making false accusations.
First of all I would like to let it be known that I'm not hating on your video..... It's just the simple fact that this is really not a question of which should you buy. I see these videos all the time and they are saying just that. Which one should you buy. The answer never changes, you should buy the one that is compatible with your phone. I have a Galaxy phone so of course I am going to have a watch to match it.
Obviously, the one you buy depends on what phone you have , I love the new design , but as I've got the 24 ultra , I'm not going to buy an apple watch anyway , as one won't work with the other . I've traded my 6 classic in for the ultra they both work well

Tried them twice. Both had major issues. The second wouldn't load maps. Got a replacement, same issue. I gave up on Garmin after dropping $700 on a useless watch.

Samsung watch you can't use for scuba diving. So that's a fail for me. So I would go for ultra 2, shearwater or garmin.

They used square to fit in more sensors and a bigger battery. That's why this watch is what this watch is. They didn't steal Apples design. That's like telling me that Honda stole Toyotas design for the minivan. It has to be a minivan, to perform like a minivan. Same with this watch if you want more sensors and a bigger battery. Don't like the square? They make a watch 7 that's not square for you.

That’s the difference… it’s 650 with no discounts. But even with no trade in… you can get this watch for under $600. I traded my watch and only paid $225. But if you don’t need the ultra the regular 7 is another option.

For those who are saying that the Galaxy watch ultra is a copy of Apple's Watch Ultra, search the Samsung Gear Sport. It looks exactly like that. If anything, it looks more like a Panerai Radiomir. The orange band is from garmin, and the button is from Apple, though.

Watches look completely different.
Watch bands come in many different colors so Samsung added a orange band good for them. Apple doesn't rule the color orange.
Samsung has a wide selection of Titanium colors and wide selection of watch band colors which is awesome.
I really like the grey titanium with orange high lights but not a fan of the orange band, easy fix I ordered the grey band which will look awesome.
Galaxy Ultra has more features than the Apple Ultra.
Both watches are premium.
Samsung fans will go with the Galaxy Ultra and Apple fans will stick with the Apple Ultra.
A big Con for me with Apple is IOS with daycare watching over you 24/7. Android OS gives you the freedom to do customize the look of your device.

Which one should you get? Simple answer if you’re on android get the Samsung, if you’re on iOS get the Apple Watch Ultra. Very simple answer, neither watch works with the opposite operating system.

Samsung already made a similar design in 2017 with Galaxy Watch Gear Sport so it is not really a true copy from Apple. 😅
They are NOT rated at simply 10 ATM. The real rating is 10 ATM for up to 30 minutes (or 10 minutes). You cannot submerge it in a swimming pool for hours on end. For diving, the Apple Watch Ultra has a dive computer. Plus the orange button can be scrolled. No such scrolling occurs on the Galaxy Watch Ultra. There is no rotating bezel either.
But more people have to monitor sleep apnea, than go scuba diving.
@@myfakeguuglaccount8307 I am not going scuba diving. I will be swimming. I have already lost a GW 4 Classic which was rated at IP 68 because I was in the pool for an hour or so and water seeped in. Even though I had Samsung Care+, that did not help and Samsung wanted me to pay $ 147 to get it repaired. I want a watch which I can take to a swimming pool and not have to worry about water getting in. According to Samsung Tech Support, the GW Ultra's 10 ATM rating is ONLY for 10 minutes.
