You know, so long as you aren’t caught in a traffic jam, this makes really good truck driving music. I was working my way through Chicago on I-94, and the heavy metal really melded well with the feeling of piloting a big beast of a machine through an urban environment.

Where in America can you go and not get stuck in a traffic jam, but also not be in a rural road? I'm in Oklahoma and just sat 14 minutes at an intersection in a minor city
@@janglur if you’ve heard of a city, it has bad traffic. That being said, it all depends. A big factor is time of day. If you’re traveling through Chicago at 5pm, yeah it’s going to take you 4-5 hours. But if you travel through Chicago at 2am, it could take you 45 minutes. I do 50-60 percent of my driving nowadays at night, you make better time.
Its like traditional 80s heavy metal meet 31st century industry. LOVE IT!
The inner sphere is heavy metal, the clans are synth with a little darkwave. This has been pretty well established by now. If they ever make a specifically Steiner focused game, I assume it will be mostly opera and polka.
If real life counterparts are any measure their heavy german roots would lead to some weird mix as Germany comes right after Scandinavia with Heavy Metal Bands per 100k people while also producing a lot of whatever name for the general genre of "Techno" you want to use as well as exactly what you stated (Plus italian is usually listed as a common language elevating the opera portion even more). This would be one diverse soundtrack and now i am really curious to hear some attempt at heavy metal polka with an full size orchestra to boot.

I think Mechwarrior would also be served well by Atmospheric Death Metal for the bits where you're taking your scout atlases around frozen ice worlds and whatnot looking for things to scout (with extreme prejudice).

One elusive song on here from the game. On certain missions on snow maps, there's a song that plays, but it's not even listed on any of the track listings. Song is in the base game not any of the DLC.
"A Second Life" Is my favourite track.
I'm trying to find the song that sometimes plays at the end of a mission and is basically just the most awesom bass line ever. I've scanned through the whole sound track and a couple of the DLCs and combed through the comments, but I figured it was worth a shot to see if anyone knows where it is...

Man Of No Ego - Lightworks album has some chill songs that are very similar to the ingame menu soundtracks
Judgement and Retribution is my favorite track from the entire game. It's the one that made me realize "Oh shit I'm playing a MechWarrior game." The choir and the crying guitar; it's so thunderous and powerful, but so hopeless at the same time, like you're leading a dying combat lance simply trying to take as many enemies as possible to hell with you.
Had a synthwave Pandora station playing on the Xbox while playing this game. After I closed Pandora and “Outlier” started playing in the game, I thought the Xbox wasn’t shutting down Pandora and I couldn’t figure out why the synthwave was still playing.

there are 2 songs that are rehashes ofvrehadhes that we all heard 5000 times in multiple forms. all other tracks are exelent or at least solid. some of the faster paced songs fall behind the slower paced songs to me but overall this ost is pretty darn great

This is the best metal album in years. I’m totally head-banging to this. I’ve never played the game though.
I like to play this when playing BattleTech, it feels so damn good crushing other mechs with heavy metal in background instead of symphonic crap.
I like the symphonic music, personally. When you consider all the lore behind BattleTech, taking into account the cultures of the Inner Sphere, and how many MechWarriors see themselves as knights on the battlefield, it can enhance the ambience. But the heavy metal is great, too.
This is excellent music to edit to.

I think they've changed a bunch of songs for the album. There is an ingame version of Those Once Loyal with an amazing guitar sweep sound, but it's not the one in the video. Pitch seems different to me also. In the game it sounds a bit like Turbo Lover from Judas Priest. The album version of the ost is inferior imo.

Story 4/10 is mild. The story starts off as awful as it could. Greedy, stupid merc gets his father killed due to bad decision making.
After that he remains a plank of wood, only overshadowed by annoying over the top accent Timbiqui dark tech and annoying over the top accent woman in charge..
HBS Battletech, as cheesy and stereotype as the story may be, blows this out of the water tenfold.
Maybe they should've just redone the MW2 Mercs story. Better copy something good than make up something bad.
i honestly don't care about the story very much. at least its good enough to give the game a background. the game is fun to play and cool so i give it a high score. if people care about the story so much, they should just watch a movie.

This OST made me learn the term "buttrock" was a thing and, honestly, I get it but still like this OST.

I bought this game yesterday and it is the shit. They did this franchise total justice. Everything is amazing. Much more releastic than previous version of course with the fucking rock metal soundtrack
You know a lot of people keep complaining this doesn't sound like MW2 and lacks the synth elements of MW2 and complain that it has too much metal.
But I think these people never played Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries, ya know. The game this is a successor to, cos the soundtrack is much more in line with it. Though it works SO MUCH BETTER for heroes of the inner sphere than it ever did for the generic protagonist good guy on a story of vengeance.

i hate the MWO / MW5 butt rock. PGI really have no taste in music. i'm always needing to load up MW2 or MW4 OSTs instead.

Most of this OST doesn't give off the right vibes for a Mechwarrior game. It's a real shame because Timothy Seals did an excellent job of updating the iconic music of the franchise.
Actually sounds better without the game. Dunno, guitar-heavy soundtracks don't do it for me in a future setting like BT.

No comparison to the good old Activision soundtracks. This is kinda boring and uninspiring. Can´t get any mental cinema. Everything sounds the same and there is no theme for each story aspect.
It's guitar riffs and drums.. yep, it gets boring if you're not 100% into metal.
They should have just used A.C./D.C.'s Hell's Bells and put that in the soundtrack
