- Dave Weckl has been one of my favourite drummers since I was 14. I have been to his Dave Weckl Band shows and also other projects he was a part of, and I have always admired his playing which has been a source of inspiration for me.
In 2016 I had the opportunity to meet him at the Adam's Drumworld Festival in the Netherlands where we both performed. It was an amazing meeting and a fantastic experience!
I decided to choose a song from his repertoire, "Road to Connemara", record a video and slightly rearrange the composition into my Drumming Syndrome interpretation.
It was a great challenge to learn the individual parts and very creative grooves and fills; I spent hours practicing.
Although I have great respect for Dave Weckl, my goal was not to imitate his playing style, but to bring my own creativity and more "rock" style of playing into some parts of the song.
Dave Weckl will always remain one of my drummer heroes and this video is a sort of a small tribute to him...

Miluji Irsko a zbožňuji Miloše Meiera, který přesně tímto odpovídá na otázku, kdo je nejlepším bubeníkem...je to ten nejrychlejší? Je to ten nejpřesnější? Je to ten, kdo umí nejrychleji točit paličkou? Ne...je to ten, který zahraje Psychosocial a stejně tak daleko měkčí song s Irským motivem se stejným nasazením a hlavně ve svém stylu a ukáže tak tím svojí univerzálnost, široký záběr a nadšení pro hudbu. Ano, Miloš Meier je pro mě nejlepším bubeníkem! Díky Miloši za tento cover! Dokonalá práce!

Že je Miloš vynikající bubeník nepochybuje snad nikdo, že má vydaný vysloveně skvělý videa, o tom taky není pochyb, ale tohle je ještě o level dál. Pro mě jasně nejlepší výkon, kterej jsem od Miloše kdy viděl a jednoznačně si tohle video budu pouštět dál a dál, naprostá pecka, absolutní fantazie!!! Díky moc, ať se daří!

When I first heard this, I will admit I wasn't impressed. I was thinking, "Who is this guy, overplaying and making a mess all over the song?" But then I went back and read his his notes on the post about his admiration for Weckl and what he was trying to accomplish with this track. After reading that, I went back and watched the video again with a different mentality. While this particular style of drumming is not my style, I have to admit that he completely achieved what he set out to do! Well done sir!

...je to skoro až rituální pocit,sledovat stopu Milošova vzestupného umění,po které (ruka k ruce a taky noha k noze) kráčí.Ten projev není jen předvidatelný jeho talentu a píli,ale taky mistrova dost velkého odříkání a vnitřního 'neklidu', s čím se taky musel 'srovnat',mnohdy se skrytým utrpením a nepochopením...Ale ,to co Miloše nejvíc posouvá vpřed a jeho postupné projevy to jen utvrzují ,je jeho velké SRDCE a DuŠE k sobě,lidem hudbě a všemu tomu spojenému...
.It's almost a ritual feeling, following the trail of Milos's ascending art that he walks (hand to hand and foot to foot). what he also had to 'deal with', often with hidden suffering and misunderstanding ... But what moves Milos the most forward and his gradual manifestations only confirm it is his great HEART and Soul to himself, to people of music and all that connected. ..

I like seeing drummers doing covers of some of the greats like Dave Weckl. This is interesting version, obviously in the rock genre vs. Weckl's progressive jazz version. Good stuff. If you haven't listened to the original I would recommend going and finding it........ if you like good drummers check out Dave Weckl, Dennis Chambers, and Benny Greb to start. You can also look up the Vic Firth and Zildjian jam sessions which highlight some awesome contemporary drummers.

Tak Miloshku standartni vykon ani bych necekal nic min a koukam ze uz ti tu zacinaji prevazovat anglicke komentare coz o necem svedci mozna o tom ze v cechach neni zas tolik bubeniku ktery totok zajima nebo zacinas mit fandy uz i v zahranici coz je velmi pozitivni a dobra cesta, nic mene priste vyber neco co neni tak nudny vono porad poslouchat tech 7/8 je vopravdu no nevim... u tech detailu na nohy bych rad videl vic litka mas je fakt pekny a dal bych je i obnazene coz by zaujalo dalsi cast spis damskeho publika no, jinak skvele video opet tesim se na dalsi jiz obnazena videa ;-)
