Bethesda SHOULD NOT be adding their own creations. But concentrating on adding free updates and large scale DLC updates.
I spammed it everywhere, that bethisda was going to withold in house content (and contracted outside work) and market it as mods. drip feeding the contents of the game ,that was made during development, back in.
But everyone was like....nah.
Edit: fyi "large scale DLC" are called "expansions", just to save you some time typing for next time
“We love the modding community and want to incorporate it into our game.”
*immediately start releasing mid tier expensive paid mods*
Every time
You don't get it, they are price anchoring the mod, such that the user created mod's price is sufficiently high. If they release expensive creation at a set price, user's mod comparatively look competitive. They win either way, they get significant cut from the sales.
Also creating dlc takes time and has various phases. First you get the idea approved, then design the progression, then finally build it with final asset. Artist can't do anything until the final phases. Having them occupied during those early phases is good resourced management.
Yeah cause the more free they make it, the more the keep paying their employees who make it. This IS the best option. It's that or they WILL find another way to keep story based games competitive against multiplayer focused venues.
So keep complaining...you should be grateful they even bothered.
Personally, I think that the industry wants a pay as you go model. That's what this screams to me.
That's what Xbox and M$ want and they're going to ultimately force everyone else to follow this bs model. Gaming is going to be ruined and dead in 7-10 years.
Yeah, instead of affording to buy say 10 games a year, you'll be able to buy one game and then spend 10X as much money to get a complete game.
@@jaxonfreeman1756 Why not? They're thinking the people who get paid by the hour to work should pay by the hour to play. Let's not pretend these people aren't thinking something like that.
I'll stop buying games if this is what's happening. The greed in modern online tech is completely insane.
Bethesda try not to shit the bed of consumer goodwill challenge (impossible)
Bro some Skyrim mods have literally 60+ hours of quests and worldspaces and they're free. For god's sake man. That tracker quest is vile for $7
Skyrim has been out for a long enough time to have a ton of mod content. Starfield is only at the beginning. Not a logical comparison.
@@oobermackn idk why you're throwing out pseudo intellectual babel? And I can't fathom your opinion that it's "not a logical comparison." I've created mods of my own here and there for a decade, and I'm friends with a good handful of modders that have made extremely expansive mods. I know the amount of time that goes into making this sort of mod, and asking $7 for it is wild for a 20 minute quest is wild.
The fact he thinks ammo crafting the best mod tells me they all must suck
@exoxultrum4131 you label me when I give you an honest and logical opinion. I don't do what you do, but I'm not wrong.
Star Field really needs a radio like fallout.
100% The fact that there's no culture or entertainment present in universe is bogus. It's a major factor, beyond how NPCs basically have no routines, that makes the cities and settlements so dull in Starfield.
I can’t imagine what radio would fit well into the game besides classical music. Maybe just needs more interesting in game music. Make it feel more like a Hans Zimmer movie
I think theres a creation that lets you bring a radio on your ship and it plays the stuff that plays in neon or Akila. Its not gta level, but its something.
Reminder to use the Community Patch instead of the Unofficial Patch
What's the difference between the two? I actually use both, and they work fine
@@dunnojackson2549 You shouldn’t use both of them at the same time, they’re incompatible. And the difference is the Community Patch is an open source project whereas the Unofficial Patch is helmed by one guy who has had too much jurisdiction over being in charge of the patches for previous games and making questionable changes.
@@calogix The Community Patch is pre-CK so it will cause problems if you use it with newer mods. It doesn't make any difference that it's "open source". Personally, I think that Bethesda should fix their own game.

"Pay As You Go" should be a required tag on games to inform the buyer that even after you pay "Full" price for a game you still don't get all of the content.
Bicycles too. I bought a bike recently. Then i added a bell. Fucking store made me PAY for it.
All developers keep pushing the boundaries on monetization further with every release. I miss when games would release with all its content included. Not spread out into a half dozen purchases over 2-3 years.
I bought it and my $7 gun is bugged
- Won't reload until I relaunch the game
- Has infinite ammo if I click fast enough
- Reflex sight has an FOV / Camera jumping bug
$7 gun made by professional developers at Bethesda
This annoyed tf out of me, I was sniping with it and had to reload and it just kept doing the firing animation
@@Stefantius I plan on buying all the ES6 DLC too, when the time comes. I was here in 2006 buying Horse Armor. It's too late for me to change.
How many free passes are we going to give Bethesda and it's monetization? Seriously?
I have given up on Bethesda at this point, all I am doing now is hanging around to see how it all ends.
I with you, I was disappointed by 76, disappointed by starfeild, angered by redfall, been waiting 6 years for any kind of update on the new elderscrolls. But by God, at least, they give us looter shooter updates for 76 and $7 side quests on starfeild. What happened to the full-fledged dlc quests that bethesda is know for
None honestly lol. We've never given them a free pass, we're all fucking furious every single time they do this shit and they still continue to do it. They've won this time because they were smarter than us. They out brained us lol. They thought to themselves... "Who wants mods so much that they would pay for them?..... Console players" And then Skyrim Special Edition was born. A game solely dedicated to bringing mods to console players, and what followed immediately after? Creation Club... a way for "Verified Creators" To release official Bethesda Content, mostly popular with..... you guessed it..... console players. So they tested the waters with Creation Club, saw it had the potential to do well enough with the console crowd, ditched it entirely, like fully fucking abandoned it, never actually updated the shit or fixed the bugs that they promised they would maintain (who'd have thunk Bethesda would leave content riddled with bugs for sale?? lol) And then fully shifted their attention to a store front, where again..... it will mostly be console players buying this content. So now they've won, because everyone whos fucking furious about it, wasn't the demographic they thought would buy it anyway, and the demographic they did think would buy, are all buying it and buying into the bull shit story of this being about supporting the mod authors so they are not just willing to buy it, but willing to straight up argue with people who are mad about it.
I hope Bethesda gets Creations figured out before TES VI. What has helped Skyrim stay in the fight as long as it has is the FREE content provided by mods.
A tip system would be better than paid mods tbh
The thing that gets me is nexus has a tip system in their page so really this all comes off as beth just wants money from this and nothing else.
@@hankdedalusWhat also pisses me off is that before SF, you could leave the Creation stuff in their own little [irrelevant... ] menu, and never have to see it.
Now? It's just all mixed together; mods, 'paid mods', and official microtransactions. I just hate that. They're trying to pressure purchases. Sure, it makes business sense, but it turns a modding menu into a quasi-Ubisoft store page. It's loathsome.
@@SabiJD Yeah it's greed for the sake of greed for a lot of aaa games now a days.
99.99999% of people do not tip. The people who made the Creation Club stuff for skyrim, one of them is one of the most prolific modders, and he said he made more off his single creation club item than he did from all his donations over his entire career. People just dont tip or donate, as much as they claim they would.
@@7BitBrian Is this frustrating jumble the answer, though? And allowing 'modders' to charge anything for a flat *health buffing* vanilla weapon? It's a big ol' can of worms, and BGS opened it just because they want to exploit more revenue streams.
Modding and microtransaction store pages used to be two different things, one of them good, the other frequently bad. Now they're blurring.
BGS don't really care about modding. They never truly have, nor have they ever truly celebrated the value added by the community. This - especially given SF is their most recent game - is a bad look.
Ad transition was *chef's kiss*
If they're going to push bounty hunting as a mechanic, MAKE THE BRIGS FUNCTIONAL. I enjoyed alot of the ship building, but one of the disappointments was how useless some of the modules felt
Adding ways to passify or restrain the target to take them in alive for different rewards makes so much sense. But this whole faction and mission type should be added to the base game in updates
There’s a mod that makes brigs usable with the capacity to restrain others. It works great.
If Bethesda makes the content it isn't a mod. That's dlc.
@@TehPiemaygor They arent, they call it Creations, so we know exactly what they are
I love that we finally got tiered melee weapons. This is something that should have been in the game from day one. Better late than never.
As for ammo crafting, my only issue with it is that apparently the primers can't drop as loot.
There must be multiple endings to The Vulture because I never encountered the sister. Someone in the comments here said they fought him and his crew at HopeTech and I actually fought him at Paradiso after he and his crew ambushed me in the hotel
I fought him at Porrina. If you’re crimson fleet, you have the option to track down his sister.
There are like 8 possible endings and even a side quest or two in it. But he didn't cover any of that.
@@7BitBrian To be fair the game does not give any indication that the quest can be resolved multiple ways. Most of us didn’t know either. Every time I’ve seen someone play through this quest and discuss it, they had my ending. The creation itself also didn’t talk about how many endings there are.
I'm really hoping the land vehicles aren't coming out with shattered space. I want these vehicles within like the next month please but I doubt it
Honestly, I want it to come with the DLC. Mainly because I want them to take their time and make sure it works properly. Plus the fall isn’t that far away. For some reason this summer is flying by really fast.
@@Steel-101 I totally get that but at the same time I'm annoyed that they talk about the scale of the game, and they didn't think we are increasing the scale of the game which is going to be different from our other games and we're still gonna have the same walking system. If it comes out with shattered space I'm hoping that we have some proper docking or parking Habs.
@@thelvadam5113 Yeah, I’ve been wondering how they’re going to place the vehicle on the planet. Is it going to be inside the ship similar to the Normandy and Mako, or is there going to be a space parking garage? Also, yeah, I get it sometimes walking around gets a bit dull(honestly, I just use the Jetpack) but what can I tell ya, you just have to be patient. Again, I don’t want them to rush this. There’s definitely gonna be some bugs with this, but I want them to make sure we have a small amount of bugs.
Land vehicles will be released in mid to late July, not a certainty but highly probable. Bethesda wants to keep the Starfield momentum moving and the best way to do that is a major content update followed by DLC.
Late July is probable, give Starfield a huge update with content and polish, then another huge update just prior to or alongside Shattered Space at the start of December.
Shattered Space should probably be viewed as a Phantom Liberty/Blood and Wine type expansion, if it is pulled off correctly@@KingDerek58
Imo the biggest addition in the new update was the Creation Kit. It didn't take long for modders to make qol mods that greatly improve parts of the game, like the one that adds a cooldown to POIs in proc gen, so you stop encountering the same 3 outposts and cryo labs over and over.
I really wish starfield had gone exotic with the starship designs. 50's - 80's scifi. I mostly just wanted my own Firefly class vessel.
Unique uniques were for sure necessary. Liike maybe only one "laser sword" you could find but theres like only few weapons with a new skin

Didn’t Todd say you were really paying for the weapon and armor in the Vulture quest line and they decided to kind of wrap it up in a quest?
If Skyrim sold as a bunch of Creations, it would cost around $2,000. Bethesda wants that with Starfield.
Yeah the interview kinda put the final nail in the coffin for me, with him talking about how he wants his games to act as platforms for more content. I just want fully finished and playable games, not one game releasing in a conpletely broken state and rehabilitating its image over five years only to turn into a new content mill that you probably have to pay for each piece over the span of a decade.
Tell me your a shill for Bethesda without telling me your a shill.
Thats not how my Vulture quest went. Never met his sister or went to a farm. Got more information and got ambushed at a different location
Leads you to a farm? What happened to leads you to Hopetech where you are ambushed?
Matty, I left a negative comment on one of your videos about Todd, but since he reads the comments he came across mine and hired hitmen to take me out. I need your help reaching out to him. This is partly your fault as well by allowing him into your community.
You know there actually are real victims who were murdered in successful hits, so this joke comment is in extremely poor taste!
Matty i got you bro. Let me explain the rationale of locking a quest behind a paywall ok? Ok here it comes: We want money.
Update broke the Crimson Fleet quest line. Can’t be completed now. They have an article up acknowledging the issue.
Well, I did just that quest line and it works perfectly fine from start to finish - even with mods. So this can't be true
I will say, the quest has multiple ways to complete it. i never met his sister, and my quest ended on paradiso. He ambushed me in a hotel room
Thank you so much for mentioning this cause mine ended the same way and I had no idea what Matty was talking about when he mentioned the sister
If you accept this pay as you go model other companies will start doing it
& don't forget to pre-order Fallout 5 and Elder Scrolls 6 so standards are lowered even further guys
its abit weird to that the tracker faction doesn’t even know your in the trackers on neon where you talk to the tracker guy from the original bit where he tells you can go to the mission boreds
I have the adoring fan held hostage until they make the ranger badge into an apparel that can be equipped and shown over our outfits… the ball is in your court now Bethesda
Some constructive criticism:
I think you were a bit halfway with the information in some points:
The Vulture quest apparently has at least 3 different endings that lead you to different places. It's still short regardless of the ending but worth mentioning.
Achievements friendly tag is only available for the minority of the mods that were made by Bethesda, which worked the same way as Fallout 4 and Skyrim. Every other mod disables them, and while Bethesda indicated that an option will be available for verified creator mods, none of them have it yet.
The unvoiced content you mention for Skyrim in the creation club were creations not made by Bethesda, unlike the vulture quest that was. There are voiced quest mods for Skyrim and Fallout 4, so not a change really.
The mod that makes your ship inventory weightless is a game changer in the best way.
Bethesda dropped the ball with starfield.
This is one of the reasons why your interview with Todd Howard can be summed up as one of the industries best salesman's pitch again
No surprise. Howard was always the most effective as a salesman than anything else. He honestly puts Molyneux to shame.

Hey Matty my Vulture quest ended completely differently. I tracked him to hopetown and I had a fight with him and his crew on the roof of Hope tech.
Just add more to the planets and maybe add a loading screen that looks like your actually flying into the planet lol
Ubisoft did that with Star Wars, Starfield loading screen loads faster. Alot faster
Wait minute! Wait a gosh darned minute!! When I did the Vulture quest, I ended up fighting him on top of the Hopetech building! There was no hostage situation, there was no farm, I walked into an ambush. Did... did Bethesda actually do multiple endings right?
I'm done with starfield, it's nothing but a load screen simulation, and I have absolutely no hope for elder scrolls and fallout going forward.
I’m happy with BGS adding their own Creations / Mods - as long as they are priced appropriately. However, I also think they should first add a lot more to the game for free to build goodwill. We can’t even swim underwater to scan the sea creatures yet, for example.
I didn’t get that ending. I didn’t know it had multiple endings
My vulture quest went to paridisso after the cave and I had mercs bust in the apartment and vulture was shooting out the windows
Just an FYI on that Vulture mod, apparently there are multiple endings to it, short though it is. The ending Matty showed is the third different one I have seen so far. When I played through it, I ended at Hope Tech and never saw anything about a sister, saw another video play through where it ended in Paradisio. Don't know if they are choice based or just randomly chosen when you start the quest. Used my free credits for it too.
Had a different ending too. I ended up at Paradiso... had to investigate a hotel room. He took shots at my through the window from a snipers nest on the cliff near the building.
Same. I got the Paradiso ending. I then found out there were other endings from discord.
I gotta say I wasn’t enjoying Starfield at first but now I’m THOROUGHLY enjoying my experience! I’m glad because the whole 1000 planet thing was overwhelming but taking it one step at a time helps
I've literally been following you since I was a kid I used to watch your New Vegas tutorials. Glad your still around bro especially now that I'm 26
The mattress plug was fuckin brilliant
Starfield needs more big, explorable, handrafted maps / planets, where you can walk for hours without a loadingscreen & without repetition (F4 survival mode has no fast travel => traversal over such a huge map is exciting & immersive.., its missing in Starfield)
I had a totally different ending for the Vulture. It did not end on a farm, nor Paradiso.
I won't say how for spoilers sake, but it was more interesting than that.
Starts around 2:00
😂 That may have been one of the most smooth ad transitions I've ever seen
That's not how my quest went? Both times I played, two different saves two different ways it went down
"todd said" lmfao
We need more access to achievement friendly mods!! Only BGS mods have that tag
Just need a mod that enables achievements with mods like we've had before.
I'm too busy with Fo4 to even look at Starsnooze. And after I'm done with Fo4, it's on to Elden Ring.
starfield is Mid and thats being nice. sucks because i think a lot of us weren't really expecting big innovations - just a familiar quality would have been great. but its a huge drop off from fo4 & skyrim
Why don't BGS let the modders get the full cut of the money for the mods if they want to support them. I wonder why?
They have costs too, and although I think the split should be bigger, I'm no accountant, and it is best for me to earn something than nothing.
@caiooca5793 Nobody asked for creation club, gamers, or modders they only set it up so they can make money off it we all can see it, we want to support the modders but the CC supports BGS more than the modders themselves. If they really care, let ALL the money go to the modders. You know the ppl that are the ones making the mods. They have been trying to do this bs for years. Why do you think they kept on re-releasing sykrim it always broke the mods, but you know what mods were ready day one ah yes, the creation mods.
@@Deboo-oz2rb Don't be so short sighted, I had over 3000 hrs modding before I ever received ANY donation.

Hi I had the same issue.
What I do to get the audio back is exit game back to main menu, then go into creations and open the menu and disable all mods then leave creations and then leave the game completely back to xbox home and then reload game and this sorts it out every time for me.
There is actually three different ending locations..one going to his hotel is trackers..one being kidnapping sister.. crimson fleet..one stopping a assassination..hacking for more info..not saying it makes it better.. just noticed most people reviewing the vultcher mod acts like its only got a single path..
I don’t think people are that upset about pricing itself, it’s that BGS has content that is also priced high. For those it’s not paid mods it’s micro-transactions that are being added under the title of paid mods, the only thing these specific ones are supporting is BGS.
It’s not the cost of primers, it’s the low amount of primers available in the shop. I would have rather had it cost a lot of resources to encourage setting bases up.
Matty be thinking about Todd looking at his thumbnail face on this one.
Would be cool if Starfield had in game tv shows like in GTA 5. Would also LOVE radio stations! (funny talk show hosts & varied music). Maybe different radio stations for each major solar system!
Not even joking but I forgot Star field even existed
I already paid over 100 dollars for this game. I am not keen to pay even more. I actually stopped playing it since I have no idea what Bethesda are doing with it and there's not much point finishing it if the game isn't finished.
Same. The game's poor writing and soulless characters made it my least played Bethesda game. Not sure they'll ever add enough to bring me back, so it'll likely remain un-installed for years.
@@joe19912 How many hours did you put in? I enjoyed when I did play for the most part. Was around 30 hours or so and seen that weird psychedelic rings thing twice lol.
I have a similar-ish experience. The most expensive game I've ever bought at launch, and I abandoned it after a few months. It's by far the worst BGS experience I've ever had, given even with games that pissed me off (Oblivion, for one), I still played the hell out of them for months.
To be fair, my MQ completely broke. I waited several months for a fix, but evidently it's a baked-in break that cannot be fixed. I'd put over 80hrs into my playthrough, I think, so I just had no will to start over.
So I waited for mods, which are the only real hope for this game.
*Now* I'm waiting for mods to really kick into gear... Could be a year or two, frankly. It depends what I see being created.
So yeah, I've been playing their games since Morrowind (still their best... ), and SF has been a real letdown. And I wasn't even caught up in the hype, as I've known their shortcomings since Oblivion.
SF has moments of magic, but I don't think vanilla is worth wasting time on. I trust the community more than BGS (paid-mods might corrode even that trust, unfortunately).
Matty, I got an achievement enabler mod as soon as I started modding Starfield (maybe day 2), you had to know it was out there, buddy.
That mattress ad was pretty dope honestly.
My original play through saves are now unplayable after the latest update. (This version is obsolete 0 as the current version is 27)…
BGS has not resolved the issue and has been very slow to responding. It’s infuriating after I had been looking forward to getting these new updates.

Okay I'm a full time Starfield hater by now but I gotta agree that the segway to that sponsor was Linus Tech Tips levels of ingenious. Good one, Matty 😂
New to mods and such. So I'm curious about the one you or two you have to pay for by the company. Is just like all mods, and if I buy it, my achievements won't work, or since its from them and not the community, it will still have my achievements work? Thanks guys
The item will specifically be labelled 'achievement friendly', or words to that effect, so you'll know when browsing everything.
I think thus far, the microtransactions - aka BGS Creations (I hate that name... ) - are all achievement friendly. Most mods won't be.
Make a mod where every location is on just one planet just call it immersion
Wow, what a great intro to the sponsor. Chefs kiss.
I have the trackers alliance quest line but i never payed for it. Was it included with the upgraded edition of the game?
moment of silence for Bethesdas good will, you will be missed
Loved the build up for that ad read.
If they charged 3$ for the missions would that make you feel better cause they gave a good free chunk and then charged 7 for individual missions seems like fair trade
If I have to pay for an actual explorable area then I’m gonna go ahead and pass
I don't like only giving 25% to the creator. If the mod is worth it, I'll pay, but really, creations are designed for Xbox users since they are in a closed ecosystem. That's what most pc centric users don't understand, and no one talks about.
Once again pc players are only thinking of themselves, and don't look at the bigger picture.
But it makes sense why pc players are so eager for devs to cater to their desires. They have already spent so much money on building their pcs, that they are determined to get their money's worth.
PC players are catered to. We get access to games that are otherwise in enclosed ecosystems. We can play Helldivers 2 (PS console exclusive), Starfield (Xbox exclusive) and LOTS of games that are PC only. Also, mods for games that aren't available on home consoles.
@@ferrite1707 exactly. Pc players that complain about ui that is designed for universality, are always complaining about ui not being designed for exclusive pc use.
It's like you order a Lafreniere, but get a Kakko.
Single player games should not have overpriced content drip fed to its customer base. If I wanted a “live service game” I wouldn’t fucking play a Bethesda game. Every fucking game nowadays I see that has so much potential gets reduced to either mediocrity or shit when the “service model” is implemented where it just doesn’t belong. Really like a lot about Starfeild but this is such a new low and there’s NO way Bethesda themselves aren’t aware of this. It’s a practice that rewards publishers to put out worse games than what they are fully capable of and it’s nuts.
I think the rationale was increase the length of the quests that only exist to get you a new gun. I'm not saying it worked, but I think that's what Todd was saying in the interview.

The prices gotta change. I would love to try new stuff but not paying that much after this
There needs to be a way to leave reviews and ask questions about the mods on the Creation Club. Like when something doesn't work, or doesn't match the description/images shown for the mod. Like there's a mod that adds hairstyles and beards, but when you install that, it removes the 5 o'clock shadow and shaved head textures.
