They infuse the music with emotion from somewhere deep inside.
(And I always adore how K.D. finishes a song, with that humble little smile like the audience shouldn’t be making such a fuss.)

This is a cover of the legendary Roy Orbison’s song. He and K.D. performed it together in 1987, two years before he passed.

I’m so GLAD you’ve discovered K.D… She has the voice of an angel!
KD Lang was not the most commercially successful artist and was not promoted well, being an open gay (Country) female artist, long before (it was acceptable). Trail of Broken Hearts, Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", Dionne Warwick's 'Theme from Valley of the Dolls, The Hollies "Air That I Breathe", are first rate. Her best know songs would be Constant Craving (Grammy Pop Female) and Miss Chatelaine.
She was only half as promoted as her true talent. We should be hearing more of her music on radio and on TV. It was her exuberant personality and bare bones frankness that the artificial elites in music promotion would not seem to touch. She stands alone in her uniqueness and pure singing talent.

She definitely knows how to sing and doesn't need the mic any closer than about three inches from her mouth. Unlike so many modern singers who look like the are about to swallow it.

I am almost positive that this song was written by Willie Nelson when he was hanging out at Patsy Cline's house.
Except it was written in 1961 by Roy Orbison and Joe Melson for Orbison's 3rd album, which was released in 1962
This version is not as good as her Cleveland rendition. Too much percussive interference.
