I guess Im asking randomly but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account?? I was dumb forgot my password. I would love any tips you can offer me
The bonnet prop will be for cost saving before the cars get to the showroom. In early life a car bonnet isn't opened anywhere near as much (in general) so it makes sense to have struts on the boot but not on the bonnet. (Work for Ford).
The majority of new cars don’t have bonnet struts unless you pay for a premium brand. Many also don’t have bonnet struts if they are light weight, they can buckle if they have a strut. Either that or just cost cutting.
James - it's worth putting some rags in the recesses where bolts, washers and part are likely to fall down and get lost. Then you can retrieve them if the worst happens.
Dark ice also makes a short shifter for these. It's just a ball joint you put over the existing one at the end of the shift cable. A simple little thing but really shortens the throw about 15-20%. Makes it the way it should have been.
You may find after heavy rain when you open the rear hatch it floods the boot with rainwater. The later models have reflecter plates fitted to stop this happening.
Thats exactly why i am not a fan of bonnet struts worked on a car a few years back can not remember the model but it had struts and the dam thing slammed on my hand nearly took my fingers off if it wasnt for my ratchet. I wont fit them to my mk4 but it does lift the bonnet higher
Another good feature of this is if you don't click down the bonnet properly and you drive down the motorway and the bonnet flips up it won't be as fierce coming back and not cause damage as it would i guess without it.
Keep an eye on the bonnet release cable, known for snapping in the worst place. Dark Ice do an aftermarket cable that takes minutes to install. - Paddy
Fair plays looking forward to these vids. I got a 2010 mondeo. Always been a great car had it for 8 years now. Make sure u clean and grease the bonnet catch lock. When I drys out it tells u that the bonnet isn't locked and alarm goes of constantly and also can unlock the car to. So be aware its a common fault on them.
I've just fitted this kit today after watching this a while ago, I saw him drop the square and as a tip I would say wrap a finger with some tape sticky side out so it sticks to your finger. A lot easier than hoping it wont fall
Good and nice mod! I had the same problem, I'm 195cm and it was a big problem with my head pop up at the bonner.... Really nice... I have to buy one of it... Thank you for your demonstration...
Kevin Albert Williams is the clutch ninja and has video of him doing a 1.8 TDCi. Which was brilliant reference for when I did my Galaxy 2.0 TDCi. Cracking car, good luck.
The only thing I would say to someone planning on doing this job themselves is to make sure that the bonnet to hinge nut closest to the windscreen is nice and tight before loosening the one that you need to remove to fit the bracket, especially on a high mileage example. Because of the weight of the bonnet on these, the rear bonnet nut can come loose due to being pulled by the weight of the bonnet when it's up, and if you loosen the other one then the bonnet will slide, effectively, backwards and go out of line, which can be a pain to sort out...
Sounds like creating a problem out of thin air. There is a good reason why Mondeo comes with old fashioned bonnet stay. That is: It`s simple and it won`t fail. Two struts may be fancier but that`s 2 additional things on the car that will break at some point. Simple= easy life. Each to his own.
I own an MK4 as well (2.0l wagon, Dutch steering) and always wondered why they didn't mount this from fabric, as my former MK3 had. So now I might order a set as well, it looks very easy to install this and the pros are great! Thanks for sharing.
Great video James, My scirocco didn't have these from factory either, so I got the same brand kit, great quality too 👍🏻 but my wife's 2007 volvo v70 came with them from the factory 🤔👍🏻
To be honest with you mate, these sort of videos aren’t ones I would personally normally watch.. however I enjoy how you always seem to run everything through clearly and don’t skip steps as many other youtubers do.. good job mate 👏🏻
Had struts on my old Citroen C5 too. My Swift (which is cheap as chips) has a prop. That tells me there was an accountant in the Mk4 Mondeo design team......
Next tool for the garage you need is a dry ice blast cleaner. It would make that engine bay look brand new. Love the channel - keep them videos coming!
Good to see doing dmf while it's out....I've driven these for passed 10 years and not had one fail yet, last mk4 had done 170k miles on original clutch and flywheel....Failure of dual mass flywheel is due to being at silly low rpm and the vibration caused by the lower rpm wears dmf out, engines are designed to free rev....30mph stick to 3rd gear 2000rpm..., I don't go into 6th until 70.....
Yeah I’m a little late - Brought the same kit but for my TSI Fabia. Pretty easy to install but retaining clips were a pain ! Looks a lot better - can’t wait to see the end result of this project.
Just want to say, the transition from static camera to head cam is really refreshing. Nice to see from your POV while you work. Also, would love to see a detail clean on that engine bay!
Excellent modification. Struts instead of a hood, sorry bonnet, strut. Much more usable, especially if you’re going to be working in the engine compartment a lot.
The dual mass flywall price is a kick the bollocks but its less of a kick to the bollocks than it failing 10k later. As someone who used to work on Saabs, the DMF's were a problem on the diesels
If someone look for cheaper alternative, go find furniture ones, its like 9 times cheaper but forces you to do small drilling in added hinges (they have 4mm holes) and get your own screws for bottom.
Just found out that mods of any type, even stickers, have to be declared to insurance company. If they find out they may invalidate the claim, if any, and then you’ll find insurance impossible to find as you have to state that insurance was cancelled. It’s worth just checking to see if mods actually increase the premium. Mine has gone up £40 due to biltstein coil overs which isn’t too bad. £2 for decals.
When doing flywheel try really hard not to change rear main seal unless you absolutely must. Good idea to check Ford dealer for prices when buying parts I have found them to be on occasion good value and better quality than aftermarket.
The subframe can be partially lowered and the gearbox slid over however having the subframe completely out the way is the best way to go. Alignment pins are needed to reinstall subframe. If these are not available then pins can be fabricated from threaded bar matching the size of the alignment holes at the rear of the frame. Failing this, white tipex pen marking every contact point of subframe onto classis to reference subframes position before removal. Misaligned subframes will cause crab steer and tracking issues
They make such a difference, I’ve just fitted some bonnet struts on my fiesta project. I was going to say you could have done the passenger side first as it would hold while you did the drivers side so you can get the original prop out of the way but your bonnet must be a lot heavier than mine 😂 great video James. Keep it up 👍🏻
You should do some performance mods on the Mondeo ST, intercooler upgrade, remap ect Also they seem to be getting pretty rare now! Probably go up in price soon!
Loving this channel even more now as i have a mk4 diesel anf will be doing this mod and can,t wait for the clutch video as always worried by the dual mass flywheel although my car has only covered 76000
Loving the new car I have one of these myself... your front seats are cooled aswell not sure about the rear as they are rare and mine don't have them.. I think yours is the same colour as mine which is hypnotic silver... you can get different radios for these mine is different and has the ford sat nav in..... hopefully see you on the road in this soon as you are from around my area
I started watching your videos about a year ago and i like what u do becasue all off the other mechanics just try and wast peoples time but if they where like u i think all cars would be running sweet as honey keep up the good work
nice practical vid, i like the fact you don t edit out the daft bits, like drop the washer etc, will be following the progress, and getting my sticker look forward to next instalment
Nice one with the gas struts James, thought it was good night Vienna for your phone when the bonnet dropped. Good move with the DMF and clutch kit, like you said you don’t need the hassle or regret if you’re in there and don’t change something and it goes at a later date. Looking forward to more content 👍
Nice one, Ford make a decent car but they cheap out on certain things, anyway re the dmf really depends how the car was driven as to whether it needs replacing, if the holes line up with the nuts and it’s making no noise it’s probably still good. People kill them going from 1st to reverse and vice versa while car still moving that stresses the springs within and leads to an early demise.
Great mod! I have ordered a kit for my Capri for the same reason. My kit is made by a mate in Ireland. So much easier to work on! And being 184cm I have got the sharp bonnet latch in my head dosens of times, and it really hurts, if you are unlucky you can end up with a wound that needs stitches after been hit by the Capri latch. Even my 04' Volvo V40 has bonnet struts from the factory. I loved my bonnet struts on my Mk3, It's strange why they did not fit them on Mk4.
All of the cars that I have ever owned have had the traditional bonnet stay 😳. Even my most recent 2016 Ford Kuga! Is it an optional thing? Great Vid James. I’m gonna get some of those for the Kuga if I can 👍🏻
Havent watched you in over a year mate as been overseas. Just watched this video and man youve packed some weight on fella. You look like a different person. I cant talk either ive packed it on as well. Lol
Just gonna throw this out there...good idea...but i'd rather put the 50 quid for the kit to better use as i'm not lazy and can manage to lift a bonnet..lol
Think if i dropped things as you did or bonnet coming down sugar is not something I would have said. Would have still began with S though. My Scirocco comes with the bonnet stay for some reason but my mum's Golf comes with struts.
Thinking of getting these myself, that MJ scene killed me hahaha
Hahaha me too mate actually played it about 10 times, creasing
I guess Im asking randomly but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an instagram account??
I was dumb forgot my password. I would love any tips you can offer me
@Erick Kylo Instablaster ;)
Laughed more than I should have at that Michael Jackson bit 😂
He he...

Love Mondeos drove every model in my working Life never let me down interesting seeing you work on them

I bought TDCI 140hp 2009 Mondeo last week :) I am enjoying this videos! Thanks man! :)
Do the rear main oil seal whilst your in there as well, you’ll thank me later 👌😂

Happened to mine☹ An absolute barsteward to fix too....

James your awesome I've always wanted to get bonnet gas struts and now I know how to install them thank you for another brilliant video 👍
I do love how real and down to earth your videos feel. And that MJ bit was brilliant 😂😂😂
I've just fitted this kit today after watching this a while ago, I saw him drop the square and as a tip I would say wrap a finger with some tape sticky side out so it sticks to your finger. A lot easier than hoping it wont fall
I’ve used those Dark Ice Design struts on my 2019 SEAT Ibiza KJ and it’s perfect!!
how can I get some of your stickers
Still running my 2001 Mk3 Zetec auto which is on 88,000 miles. Passed the last 3 MOTs first time. Best car I've ever had. But I do want a Mk4 next.
Good and nice mod! I had the same problem, I'm 195cm and it was a big problem with my head pop up at the bonner.... Really nice... I have to buy one of it... Thank you for your demonstration...
Replaced the battery on my 2013 Mk 4 estate. Smashed my head a dozen times. This mod is for me. Thanks. I will be watching the rest of the series.

Liked the video before watching because I knew it was going to be 🔥🔥🔥
A dumpster fire?
The lack of fords in the background is depressing...

Great video, I haven’t watched you since you’ve changed the power steering pump on the MK3. Glad I found you again working on a MK4. Thank you.
I'm always fitting dual to single flywheel conversion kit. Never been disappointed!
To be honest with you mate, these sort of videos aren’t ones I would personally normally watch.. however I enjoy how you always seem to run everything through clearly and don’t skip steps as many other youtubers do.. good job mate 👏🏻
And by these type of videos I meant I prefer the more mechanical videos you do
Hope all is well man. Just remembered your channel & how much i liked watching your videos last winter. Will definitely buy a mk4 Mondeo soon 😂
have the same strut kit on my MK4 now for 1 year, still works and makes every little things easier :)
I was considering doing gas struts on my bonnet, brilliant video. I’m a new subscriber but slowly working my way though the vids. Love them !!!
i love the mondeo content!!
It's the simple mods that seem to have the practicality and worth doing when working under the bonnet a lot. 👍
They are brilliant...one of the first mods I did
Good to see doing dmf while it's out....I've driven these for passed 10 years and not had one fail yet, last mk4 had done 170k miles on original clutch and flywheel....Failure of dual mass flywheel is due to being at silly low rpm and the vibration caused by the lower rpm wears dmf out, engines are designed to free rev....30mph stick to 3rd gear 2000rpm..., I don't go into 6th until 70.....
Thank you for the video. I know it’s old now but just what I was looking for. Need the bonnet to clear higher for us tall people. 😊 Ordered
Yeah I’m a little late - Brought the same kit but for my TSI Fabia. Pretty easy to install but retaining clips were a pain ! Looks a lot better - can’t wait to see the end result of this project.
Wish they did these for Ford Galxy mk3 2006-2015. Bonnet is a right pain. Good vids bud . .
Just want to say, the transition from static camera to head cam is really refreshing. Nice to see from your POV while you work.
Also, would love to see a detail clean on that engine bay!
Isn't it so satisfying when something simple just works. Careful the new struts don't distort the bonnet though
Excellent modification. Struts instead of a hood, sorry bonnet, strut. Much more usable, especially if you’re going to be working in the engine compartment a lot.
It was at this moment that he knew he had fcuked up 11:24 😂😂😂. Another great vid james

I have just bought a used 2007 mk4 and this mod is brilliant! :-D
"OH, shhhh-sugar." Hehe. Nice save there, man. =)
James your kit turned up before mine lol. Mind you i ordered the kit on friday so fingers crissed the next couple days. Good of kit. Worth £40

Just picked up a mk4 myself. Will be watching with interest. Waiting to see some other mods. 👍
I’m finding my self strangely addicted to this channel at the moment lol!

You should do some performance mods on the Mondeo ST, intercooler upgrade, remap ect
Also they seem to be getting pretty rare now! Probably go up in price soon!
Dark Ice lifters are a brilliant piece of kit, fitted a pair to my Astra k a couple of years ago. If a 70+ year old can fit them then anyone can.
What a great mod 👌 putting on my santa 🎅 wish list, great video. 👍
James. When your doing the clutch drop the subframe out. It makes the job ten times easier. I’ve done a few before
Loving this channel even more now as i have a mk4 diesel anf will be doing this mod and can,t wait for the clutch video as always worried by the dual mass flywheel although my car has only covered 76000
The DMF is going on my diesel focus, just turn stereo up and get another 10k miles 👍
i did the same thing you have done to your mondeo make it a lot easier to work on the car
What a wonderful little mod, so easy yet so satisfyingly practical...even my wife could do this...lol
Another top video James.
I fit these on my Astra J sports tourer, they're great. My old megane had gas struts, couldn't go back to the peasantry bonnet stay!
Awesome. I defo need a set of these bad boys. Cheers buddy.
Highly rate the different side angle at 01:00 James, keep it up mate!

No there not, cooling was an optional extra. Can tell by the switch, there's no fan picture on them.
Great little modification, keep the videos coming as we're almost in to spring now.
Day 837 of asking when he’s going to work on the Fiesta again
It looks really sad sitting on flat tyres.
@@tammurney3053 yep, really needs to get up and running again
Haha I’ll make a video on it
@@TheSavageGarage My hard work has paid off
I started watching your videos about a year ago and i like what u do becasue all off the other mechanics just try and wast peoples time but if they where like u i think all cars would be running sweet as honey keep up the good work
Great little modification, simple yet effective!!.
Thanks for the video, just ordered a kit for my own Mondeo, now that I know it fits!
Nice first mod. Looking forward to the mondeo series of vids.👍
nice practical vid, i like the fact you don t edit out the daft bits, like drop the washer etc, will be following the progress, and getting my sticker look forward to next instalment

Great little peace of kit for tall folk. Great video 👍
This is a nice little mod and overlooked sometimes. Makes any car look more modern too besides all the practicality. Good vid. 👍👍
Nice struts.. I wonder if the fiesta needs new struts. oh hello zetec s.. come on james it's time.
Great mod!
I have ordered a kit for my Capri for the same reason. My kit is made by a mate in Ireland.
So much easier to work on!

Great Vid James. I’m gonna get some of those for the Kuga if I can 👍🏻
More to do with cost per car in factory mate
Excellent ! Well done 👏
These a nice and needy upgrade mate..... Glad to see a "new mondeo" on the channel hahaha
Nicely done really the plate washer should have a captive nut to make it easier to install
Thats the viewing sorted for when the kids go to bed 👌🏻

Harry main’s merch... never would have guessed
😂 the Michael Jackson clip 👌 was just waiting for you to shout Shamone when shutting the bonnet
Good mod, going to do this on mine too.
I'm sure dark ice design also do short shift kits... Should have ordered one of them also, as its less than £5 to buy that
Think if i dropped things as you did or bonnet coming down sugar is not something I would have said. Would have still began with S though. My Scirocco comes with the bonnet stay for some reason but my mum's Golf comes with struts.
Recently bought a mk4 titanium x also and the fact that it doesn’t come with the struts is bugging me, definitely will be doing this with mine
It's a hefty bit of steel to lift. Can't blame you.
James, you are tall, mate! Never realized that from the videos. The struts are looking good on the Mondeo! 👍
Great video. Good decision to do the dmf whilst you’ve got the gearbox out. Can’t wait for that video 😀👍
Loving the pink shoes
