You expect them to ride like they've been doing it for decades. Remember that this is a riding SCHOOL. They are taking LESSONS so they can LEARN TO RIDE.
+Billie Neeteson When i was 3 years old i would sqeeze and tap the horses to make them go and i was 3 years old!! Horses should be trained to ethier where you just tap lightly or... Sqeeze... You don't kick if you do its only one or twice and NOT hard. So 1. they were kicking the horse hard like very hard 2. if they were able to kick that hard they can sqeeze 3. Sqeezing is not hard even for a 3 year old maybe some 3 year olds can't sqeeze that hard but all you are doing to sqeeze is put your legs together... Horses are responsve...
I'm so glad all you commenters have such perfect ponies that never require kicking. I have found that my best horses/ponies for the little ones are the older ones that are a bit "dead" in the side. Of course, when I ride them to "tune them up" they don't have those dead sides, but mysteriously seem to develop them when I put beginners on them. Lesson ponies learn very quickly that a small, inexperienced rider can't make them go fast (well, at least my ponies do - I wish I knew where you found your perfect ponies). I endeavor to teach my students to ride without having to kick the heck out of them, but that takes time and experience before they can make the horses listen without all the kicking or a using riding crop. And give the kids a break, I mean, some of them are such beginners that they have someone leading them! Beautiful, healthy ponies, and kids that are having fun on horseback, makes my heart happy. Don't listen to all the haters out there.
no because ponies and horses have a life they can feel that you only kick when they need to go into lets say trot to canter you cant do it all the time this isn't right.You have to treat the ponies properly more than kicking them and scaring them.they have a life ya know.
just HOW can they let the little kids ride on their own if they cant even walk without kicking the poor ponies?! Very patient horses, in our riding club, the horses would kick and buck till the rider is down... They should learn how to RIDE, not how to FORCE the horses to do something... No hate but lead the kids till they know how to squeeze and sit on the pones properly. And another thing... Dont you know that you should not scream near horses? Again, those ponies must be VERY patient... Sorry for my bad English :)
Why am I watching this they all snap at the horses. The girl fell of because she was not focacessing on what position she was in. They also kick the horses like it is a life of dirt! You should gently squeeze for a faster trot, canter ect.
I remember I did a version of this on a palomino named lemon and she was a bit of a sensitive horse so when we did rely races ( we were only supposed to trot ) I kicked her to hard and she bolted into a canter. The horse I was up against ( who was being ridden by a new girl that still had to be led ) stood no chance 😂
Didn't like the girl pulling her pony in the mouth to make it go backward! You don't pull them like that that to make them go backwards! I think someone could have told her to at least stop pulling backwards
I think the thing that annoyed me more than it should was the fact that that girl was still crying LONG after she had fallen. I mean sure, cry if you're hurt or scared but she was obviously fine and was crying for attention really. If I cried for longer than I should, my instructor would kick me out of the lesson. 😂 One kid in my old riding club actually got kicked out of the CLUB for being too much of a sook. 😂😂

Them horses must have dead sides I don't even squeeze my horse he has been taught to go on certain movements of the feet so I wiggle my feet and he goes he goes on voice too
The purple one that fell off made such a big deal out of it tbh she only landed on her bum and her horse weren't going fast, besides she kicked it so hard the poor thing didn't know what to do!

These girls were already showing off and then one fell off cause she was being full of herself and acting all hard thinking she was ready to canter one handed! I've been to this riding place it's great there but they didn't teach me to kick horses violently when ur in trot or galloping. They obviously teach the older kids a very diffrent way to the younger ones
Notice how all the girls are more concerned about winning instead of the horse? The kicking is driving me crazy, I get that their children but how is this acceptable to all the instructors?
Why aren’t they told that they shouldn’t kick so hard and all the time ? Surly the horse and rider should enjoy everything together? Also I was taught to squeeze up to 3 times if the others didn’t work and then kick or a tap of the whip if none of them worked

That girl on the chestnut coloured horse with the pink stripey jumper..I was absolutely horrified by how hard and aggressively she kicked that horse!! I feel awful for the horses at this place..never seen anything like it!
The amount of people straight up trolling these children is astonishing, yes they’re not perfect but neither is anyone and they especially weren’t when they where 7,8,9 kinda ages or having just learnt. This is clearly just a bit of fun at a pony camp or something to do during school time off not a show they’re not to be judged THEY’RE CHILDREN everyone was a child on a pony at some point so there is no need to make a big song and dance about it, ITS NOT ABUSE, so many equestrians throw the word abuse at other equestrians and it’s sickening, abuse is when the horses are in bad living conditions, health problems, don’t get fed or exercised etc. Not just a bit of fun.
Abusing ponies is fun? It's not the children's fault, it's the adults for teaching them to be like that, but it's still abuse. I can understand some of them getting excited during the races but this is sustained for a long time, the ponies don't get five minutes peace from being kicked and dragged around by yanking hands. The worst thing is even the children don't seem to be enjoying it much. The whole event is just grim.

Most of these riders kick their horses long after they move into a canter! When they move into a canter you should be urging them forward with your voice and body. And they are always pulling on their horses mouths while kicking! At my riding place a girl did that a got a whip in her mouth a pulled hard on and she didn't like and and she never did it again and her horse turned out amazing for her! As you can see these riders put their legs back when they are kicking. That is a bad habit that they need to get over, to be a good rider your horse will move with a slight squeeze. That is a bond you make. You never make a bond with a horse when you are pulling hard on its mouth and whipping for not needed reasons. The thing that annoys me the most is that they are growling at their horses and yelling. You should ask them not force them. They are amazing animals and should not be hurt. 'Have fun and Games' Half of this isn't fun to watch! I watched until the girl fell off then stopped. That is her fault why she fell off. She was spooking her mare by waving it around when her horse 'bolted' If I were her I would of dropped that box and calmed down my horse, Got off and showed her what it is. These horses are sick of it you can tell by their body movements. These instructors should have done something about their riding. They shouldn't be playing games like that until they have a bond with that horse. They should have done ground work and not switched riders so suddenly. After you change a rider those people ride differently, the horse would have gotten used to how that rider rides and their way. After a sudden change the horse will be naughty for the new rider. They didn't need those whips on half of those horses! Some gentle kicks and if needed a tap on the shoulder!!

+kylie 122 yes but if you know they won't go then they will just kick them as they know they won't go to a squeeze it's just one of those things with school ponies and horses, if you owned the horse you could teach the horse to just react to a squeeze but lots of different people ride them so it will just wear off after a while :)
Omg, I would never ever in my wildest dreams kick a horse or whip a horse/pony like that! That is cruel and it’s horrific how they cannot see that! Poor ponies I would never ever be so aggressive like that to a horse/pony I was riding. I don’t write hate ever! But what I’ve just seen has made me sick in my stomach! Especially the way they talk to the ponies..yet again..aggressively saying “get on!! Get on!!” You can even hear the kicking noises against the ponies stomach! This needs to stop.
I went to try a pony from here were they made a promise for a price but then the lady asked for £2000 just before we bought her we defiantly changed are mind horrible lot

do they know how to look after horses?? clearly not!! horses ears back head in the air. little girls breaking the ponies' ribs because they dont know how to use a whip. pulling the top of the nosebands!! areana is as boggy as hell! with what looks to me like half a river at one end! boggy footing can damage there feet! why hold an event in such bad conditions? honestly its common sense. think about your ponies before the kids, the kids dont have to run around barefoot the ponies do! think about safety aswell, the little girl fell off, not one person stopped untill she had gotten back on or been removed from the areana! if she had got kicked!!

You know what disgusts me the most? And it's not the video it's the people who have the guts to comment stuff like that about this riding centre. I ride here everyday and it's not at all bad! Those riders are jumping amazingly now! And I bet you weren't anybetter when you guys started riding
I've never treated a pony like that in my life. What has jumping got to do with anything? Lots of people can hang on over a jump, that doesn't mean they are in partnership with their horse. Why do people always think that jumping is the only way to measure someone's progress at riding?
I think it's walk, trot and canter. If you do it properly you are meant to turn a circle if you break into a trot in the walk part, or a canter in the trot part. It's supposed to teach you more control of the paces because you need to go as fast as you can without breaking stride. Of course it requires a little concentration and communication with your pony, not just frantic kicking and arm waving as we see here!
It’s not the best to lead the ponies as the children don’t get the benefit of the game they need to know the basics of riding and the 2nd group was better but maybe teach them NOT to run to the ponies as that could result in the horse getting scared Omg 4:54 that girl hit the horse hard for only to win a game the horse was going fine and the girl was pushing the horse 5:45 the same girl hitting the horse that hard the fall off the girl seemed like she was trying to block the brown horse off so the horse got scared as they were swerving into the horse and the horse got scared and she landed on her bum and she seemed okay I just don’t see why she cried for that long, she should have got up grabbed the horse and ride so that she wouldent be scared to get back up

I feel sorry for the horses they are clearly not happy and there pulling on there mouths they are going to have mouth problems and whipping the horses everything about it is just bad also they didn't need to keep kicking the horses constantly the ponies don't want to move because everything I said before and the horses are only doing it because there the kind of animal that will give in easily

Gosh all of these horses are overridden and have become completely desensitised. You can get a horse when I ride into a trot or canter with a squeeze and changing your seat....

+kylie 122 yes but if you know they won't go then they will just kick them as they know they won't go to a squeeze it's just one of those things with school ponies and horses, if you owned the horse you could teach the horse to just react to a squeeze but lots of different people ride them so it will just wear off after a while :)

Omg, I would never ever in my wildest dreams kick a horse or whip a horse/pony like that! That is cruel and it’s horrific how they cannot see that! Poor ponies I would never ever be so aggressive like that to a horse/pony I was riding. I don’t write hate ever! But what I’ve just seen has made me sick in my stomach! Especially the way they talk to the ponies..yet again..aggressively saying “get on!! Get on!!” You can even hear the kicking noises against the ponies stomach! This needs to stop.

I went to try a pony from here were they made a promise for a price but then the lady asked for £2000 just before we bought her we defiantly changed are mind horrible lot
I don't mind giving my horse a few kicks to get him to go if he's just being lazy but repeatedly nagging them looks uncomfortable 😣 plus, their already going fast so like seriously stop kicking them if their doing it right!
These people hold showjumping competitions and I go and sometimes of the children doing are really not ready I always feel bad for the ponies
So munch hate on such a cute video. People forget these ponies are trained to deal with this- not saying they should. They probably can't feel the kicking! It's just for a bit of fun !

guys remember when they just say walk but the kids just keep on kicking the poor horses and they won't stop and i hate when i see them kicking the horses in the ribs too! who else agrees?
kandkfamily then need to kick the horses to get them going and horses can go like this, slow walk. Walk. Fast walk. Slow trot. Trot. Fast trot. Slow canter. Canter. Fast canter. Slow gallop. Gallop. Fast gallop the horses aren't going fast enough it's a race duh
do they know how to look after horses?? clearly not!! horses ears back head in the air. little girls breaking the ponies' ribs because they dont know how to use a whip. pulling the top of the nosebands!! areana is as boggy as hell! with what looks to me like half a river at one end! boggy footing can damage there feet! why hold an event in such bad conditions? honestly its common sense. think about your ponies before the kids, the kids dont have to run around barefoot the ponies do! think about safety aswell, the little girl fell off, not one person stopped untill she had gotten back on or been removed from the areana! if she had got kicked!!

the little girls don't ask to canter they just kick the hell out of the ponies until they do what they want! and who is that idiotic lady who thinks that it is ok to 1) run after a pony yelling. and 2) hit the pony on the butt while leading it (may I add incorrectly ) when the rider has a whip! !!!

I've never treated a pony like that in my life. What has jumping got to do with anything? Lots of people can hang on over a jump, that doesn't mean they are in partnership with their horse. Why do people always think that jumping is the only way to measure someone's progress at riding?

why do the 2nd people walk
I think it's walk, trot and canter. If you do it properly you are meant to turn a circle if you break into a trot in the walk part, or a canter in the trot part. It's supposed to teach you more control of the paces because you need to go as fast as you can without breaking stride. Of course it requires a little concentration and communication with your pony, not just frantic kicking and arm waving as we see here!
It’s not the best to lead the ponies as the children don’t get the benefit of the game they need to know the basics of riding and the 2nd group was better but maybe teach them NOT to run to the ponies as that could result in the horse getting scared Omg 4:54 that girl hit the horse hard for only to win a game the horse was going fine and the girl was pushing the horse 5:45 the same girl hitting the horse that hard the fall off the girl seemed like she was trying to block the brown horse off so the horse got scared as they were swerving into the horse and the horse got scared and she landed on her bum and she seemed okay I just don’t see why she cried for that long, she should have got up grabbed the horse and ride so that she wouldent be scared to get back up
If you haven't got anything nice to say don't say it at all. And it's a riding school is it not obvious there is going to be some people that aren't as experienced as others!

I feel sorry for the horses they are clearly not happy and there pulling on there mouths they are going to have mouth problems and whipping the horses everything about it is just bad also they didn't need to keep kicking the horses constantly the ponies don't want to move because everything I said before and the horses are only doing it because there the kind of animal that will give in easily

And you need to learn to keep your mouth shut. These kids were just having a bit of fun and they didn't even kick that hard. The ponies look very happy and healthy so obviously they are treat well. Grow up.
