I inherited this from my grandparents when they were no longer able to use it. They bought new in 1990 and were the only owners, performed all scheduled maintenance, drove cross country in summers to see their children, and stored/winterized in a garage in Minnesota during the winters. Hoping to sell it now because I recently bought my first house and the cost/maintenance/insurance of that plus my personal vehicle is all I can handle.
Updates since I’ve had it (mechanical stuff, in addition to regular oil changes)
2020
-New tires (6 on the car plus a spare)
-New spark plugs
-New coach battery
2021
-New power steering line
-New exhaust
-Bilsteins x 4
(When I installed the bilsteins, inspected the suspension and it looked good)
2023
New starter battery
Interior:
-Painted over wallpaper
-Ripped out carpeting, cleaned, and installed maple hardwood flooring
-Handmade tiles from MN as a backsplash and bathroom floor
-New shower faucet and curtain
-New three-way SMETA fridge (Ac, dc, and propane powered). The dc connection to the solar panel has been finicky lately and it takes a couple tries to get the propane started but it works.
-Installed 100w flexible solar panel on roof. Can charge two usb devices from charge controller in the interior. Okay for the fridge if it’s sunny during the day, but not enough to run overnight
-Removed bathroom faucet and capped those lines and topped with a cutting board for more counter space (faucet is still there but not the sink itself)
-re-sealed roofing and exterior
-Replaced interior lights with leds and repainted the yellowing plastic white
Working: All four burners, oven, and water pump work great. We’ve turned on the furnace and it blows hot air but we never used it for extended periods of time, same with the hot water. Never used the black water system, but it’s there. AC only in the cab (no cabin unit). Overdrive. Windows all slide nicely, screens intact. The table drops down and to make a guest bed, cushions are reversible.
Not working: The back two of the three skylights don’t open anymore (the mechanism that lifts them broke) but the fan in the farthest back one still works. A couple of the struts that hold open the cabinets are weakening. Some of the grout between the tiles, especially in the bathroom, is cracking. The “threshold” between the bathroom and main cabin, which was scavenged wood, is also cracked. I ran out of maple so the wood under the dining table is t&g pine. Dented back (superficial). One of the strings on the big window blind is broken-we use a clothespin to hold it open now.
