- Weggis is a wonderful holiday resort in Switzerland located on the shores of Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Lucerne) and at the feet of the famous Rigi mountain. Weggis offers a beautiful view of the lake and the mountains of Central Switzerland. Author Mark Twain visited the place in 1897 and said Weggis was "the loveliest place" he had ever been.
The magnificent historic paddle steamers of the Lake Lucerne Navigation Company regularly stop in Weggis on their trips. All of Central Switzerland's best-known excursion destinations can be reached by boat, such as Bürgenstock, Pilatus, Klewenalp or the places of the Urnersee and of course the city of Lucerne.
The Rigi mountain can be reached from Weggis by cable car to Rigi Kaltbad or by rack railway from the neighbouring village of Vitznau.

Beautiful old ship at the start of the video. Another beautiful town with fantastic architecture. I would expect its big with the holiday crowd.
It's really a beautiful place at Lake Lucerne! In the summer time there are many tourists but it's not overcrowded like Lucerne :-)
