Eric Johnson's latest album "Up Close" is out now. Buy yours.
Before yo ask me: as far as I know, this concert is not on DVD (unfortunately).
This parcular band was also know as "Alien Love Child", being composed by Eric Johnson, Chris Maresh on the bass and Bill Maddox on the drums.

I think to me Eric has the most beautiful sound in guitar history. That tone is just so brilliant

Eric Johnson is one of those rare guitar players, along with the likes of Larry Carlton and Robben Ford, who can play such fast, virtuosic lines without losing their sense of melody.

@Randall V I do get what you’re saying and you are right. Although very different as players, both Johnson and Lifeson are very subtle players and their skilful and harmonically sophisticated chord voicings are an example of that.

Check out the song "Desert Rose." He KILLS the vocals along with his guitar on that tune.

How good is Eric Johnson? To answer that question just check out any footage of the G3 shows with Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen onstage with him. Both Steve and Yngwie are legends on the guitar. But despite pulling out all their tricks, Eric just left them in the shade. Mr Johnson is no mere legend he is one of the true gods of the guitar.

Got introduced to his music, when he was part of 'G3, live in concert', back in the nineties.
'Manhattan' is an amazing track by Eric.

It's really nice how the band builds up the guitar solo part gradually and in pieces. Restraint is so effective for building emotion.
