See a first hand view of exactly what it's like to play in a pro Rugby League game, as Ashton Sims of Warrington Wolves wears a 'wire' during his team's Ladbrokes Challenge Cup Quarter Final against Leigh
Never heard of ashton sims? he was a beast back in the day! His younger bros are tariq (dragons) and korbin (broncos), his sis played for the Jillaroos and when he was in the NRL played for brissy, st george and the cowboys....cost the broncos a grand spot against the storm cause he dropped the ball with like 30 seconds to go and G.I scored in the corner haha
Great player. Lovely man. Terrific family. The family's sporting talent is beyond words here. " Did you see dad score a try ? " ....love it. I love a sports star that mentions people that influenced and brought them through, just in a round about way . Proper class.
LOL born and breed in Australia. Father is Australian, mother is Fijian. He is about as Fijian as a boomerang. The ONLY reason they allow Australian NRL players who have even the smallest tie to another league nation, to play for that nation is to try grow the game outside of Australia. And only if they aren't probably going to get selected for the actual Australian team. So they either watch, or play for another nation. Which I have no issue with personally. But Sims has probably been to Fiji on holidays once or twice in his life. Other then that, he wouldn't know the place at all. He was born and raised in Sutherland Sydney. And is only half Fijian if that.
Great when the players mic up and gives the viewer a glimpse of why these guys are warriors and deserve far better wages than they get, anyone who's played the game will tell ya for a few days after a match, your body feels the trauma big time. You won't see these boys rolling about for a palm in the face. Watch a proper man's sport footballers stop poncing about "Rhinos"
Maya Xo youd kick off to start the game then hav 26 advertisements followed by 28 time outs switch players for the next 40 minutes hav one tackle then watch the nfl boys dancing celebrating and mouthing off then another time out some more ads n then 5 hours later your done and fuck alls happened
Rugby League has its similarities to American football in regards to positions obviously the difference being you play both offence and defence. Wingers would be wide receivers/cornerbacks. Centres could be considered an inside wide receiver or possibly a tight end as centres these days tend to be almost similar size to forwards. Fullback is definitely your speedy running back on offence. On defence he would be the safety as they hang back from the line as the final line of defence. Props, second rowers and locks would probably be your 3rd down style running back or full back on offence as they just run at the line like a battering ram. On defence they would be your larger linebackers or possibly the defensive line with your props being the DT’s and second rowers being DE’s Hooker, half back and 5/8 technically speaking would share the role of Quarterback on offence as they are the decision makers on the field and tend to make the most passes but obviously in this game the quarterback can only pass backwards. Hooker, halfback and 5/8 can also run the ball like an agile running back. On defence the hooker would be your smaller middle linebacker as they sit in the middle of the line between the lock and one of the props depending which side they are on. The halfback and 5/8 would be inside cornerbacks. The role of punter is usually a secondary role for the halfback or 5/8 which is about 7/10 times the halfback. They can also kick for field goals but it’s done by drop kick rather than place kick so they’re still technically punters As for kicker anyone can play the role of kicker. It’s mostly the halfback and 5/8 who are responsible for place kicks but in this day and age fullbacks, wingers, centres, hookers are filling the roles. I’ve even seen a second rower play the role of place kicker. The only NFL players that wouldn’t be able to play rugby are your offensive line as there’s no blocking in rugby league and due to the pace and length of the game they’d be gassed in 10 minutes. You’re defensive tackles would probably run into the same stamina issues as well. So position wise the games are similar but if a rugby match were to go down between a team of Rugby Leagues best and a Rugby team made of America’s best NFL players it would be a massacre because as previously stated the NFL players are conditioned for short intense bursts with long breaks while Rugby league players are conditioned for longer bursts of medium to high intensity with very short breaks. The backs play all 80 minutes of the two halves while the forwards except the hooker play between 40-70 minutes (props usually 40-50, second row and lock 50-70). And then the Americans will be a bit hesitant to tackle hard as there’s no pads or helmets in rugby. NFL players conditioning could be adapted to Rugby Union as there’s more stoppages in Union than League but Union is much more complicated than League. Best NFL players to transition to rugby league in my opinion would by running backs, fullbacks, cornerbacks, safeties and linebackers.
@@roughgooch7859 Great analysis. Im assumming you watch the three games closely. In my part of the world (Pacific), Rugby league and Union dominate. For rugby union, I hope you like 7's, coz its simillar to league but played with Rugby union rules plus theirs only 7 players to each side. For league, try watching the 9's. Both great for a spectator. Havent tried American football yet but that game looks brutal (from watching af clips)
Raymond Daves The NFL is shit. College is better. Americans will like League because they aren’t always talking doo doo to each other after every play. Hard to watch that now after watching league.
Seems like he developed and came out of his shell in super league. Be good to have seen him get one more shot at NRL with his new character so to speak I think he would of gone alright. For example, if Jake friend can still be considered good enough for Sydney Roosters in the half's then Ashton is still good enough in a forward pack in Australia
1:30 flop. This guy seems to get away with doing that every week. That and smacking the smallest players on the pitch. Really fancies himself. Someone should put one on him
Never heard of this guy, but from this vid he's a legend.
found u again
