Kellin vocal range has changed, his voice when the song actually came out was a lot more higher. He I guess has the natural feminine voice but it did change a lot
Age catches up to everyone, unfortunately. In 20 years his voice will have to play another key down if they’re still around. Sad :/

wtf all these people complaining about his voice, I honestly think it sounds amazing here. Sure, it's not his best performance, but you can't expect every live show to be perfect.
i saw them 3 days ago on the Back To The Future Hearts Tour. it was my ALL TIME favorite concert! If you cant hang was their best performance because of Kellin's note changes. He literally made my jaw drop and i was in pure shock of how beautiful his voice sounded. he sounds 12x better than what he did in this. I still cant get over the difference in the 2 performances & i have yet to find a video from that concert.

Saw them live last month. They were amazing. And didn't sound anything like this. He can actually sing outside of te studio. I think this was at the point where he was smoking also.

I think what it is, is that there’s some sort of crowd, vocal, suppression stuff going on with the mixing board, or whatever it is. When you listen at 1:40 you can hear the crowd singing when he passes the verse along to them.
I think this just happens a lot when bands perform live and it’s shot professionally. They want to make sure you hear the band.

I purposefully waited until after I had watched the video to read the comments. I knew that there would be a whole ton a people talking about how much they suck live, so I decided I would watch it and make up my own mind before reading all the hate from others. My consensus: this actually was not bad. It sounded really good compared to some other live performance videos of them that I've seen. Sure, his voice sounded strained at some points, but over all, he kept the tune and I think the whole band rocked it!
Yes, I always see those comments saying "that day he was sick". But this was better than other videos I saw, still he lets the public sing the hardest parts
Watched one of their recent concerts and kellin nailed every single song. He always just want to have a good time and if you ask me he's stage presence is awesome. So what if this isn't his best performance? I know for a fact that he can hit all those notes, as I've heard him do it before.

if you watch a small video of If you can't hang acoustic Kellin says that he has to sing a lot of things so he doesn't have time to breathe. Also, I think that if he uses his actual voice to sing instead of forcing it high, it would still sound cool and would be a good change for their music. Just my opinion.
I see that many people say that Kellin is a really bad singer live. I have also seen people say that he's really good live. A lot of people also say that he hasn't taken very good care of his voice, and that's why it sounds strained when he sings live. What I don't understand is that people always expect bands to sounds the exact same live as they do on their records, but that's nearly impossible. No band or artist sounds exactly the same live as they do on their records. When a band makes an album, they record the guitars, bass, drums vocals etc.. many times and chooses the best take to put on the record. When they do a live show, they only have one shot.

I saw them with PTV last 2013 and I couldn't help but notice the way Kellin sang in this. I'm going to be honest, this wasn't his best performance. He sounded like he was struggling a bit. I mean, I like his voice...I think it's unique and really great but really, his voice kinda changed? Or probably that's just me.

I think Kellin sings in so pretty high tones at the studio and forget the comfort of your voice using it during a long time, like in tours. It's wearing. The instrumental was perfect but he couldn't do the same. I think he'd better sing in slower tones if he wanna keep singing live well.

People are butthurt because he doesn't sound as good as the studio versions. But then there are so-called "singers" out there who lipsync when performing live :) No hate to the other singers out there. It really is hard to sing live with all the jumping and dancing and keeping the vibe up. But then, Kellin is brave enough to just have fun while performing. I know what it feels like to perform like this. Let alone a girl like me who can't even sing well even though I'm just standing still.

I know that the singer (Taka) doesn't lipsync live, because he had tooo many lyric mistakes live, but he sounds like in the studio version. (Kellin and One Ok Rock did a song together- Paper Planes. And did the Tour Future Hearts with ATL) I wasn't on a concert by SWS, but I watched now many lives, and only 1-2 lives were good, the other were like shit. I was twice on a concert by One Ok Rock and can tell you, they sound so good live as you find in the internet and the singer forgot in one live the Lyric XD

Idk why but it's the ones that aren't recorded by bigger cooperations that suck, like this one with bc radio recording it, but there are some ones recorder by some people watching the show and his voice is amazing, maybe he gets nervous when he knows he's being recorded and feels to pressured to do his best so he ends up singing like shit with all the pressure. that's just my theory thought.

It sounds to me like he just didn't warm up properly. Being a vocalist, I know how important it is to warm up properly and the consequences if you don't! You're voice will sound strained; especially when attempting to hit high notes. Still love this band though. Not their best performance but not their worst either :)

I absolutely LOVE Kellin and Sleeping With Sirens. So don't take this offensively. I don't think you guys know about editing? His producers or whatever their called edits his voice. This is His REAL voice. If you guys are being judgemental and can't stand it, then you obviously don't love Kellin. I admit. His voice is not as perfect as it is on audio. But atleast I'm not judging it! Grow up and face the reality.

I've never heard this band...and I think all you folk on here moaning about how bad it sounds...let is be a lesson to you on just how magical a studio can make a band sound. To be fair, the vocalist isn't that strong but the distinctness in his voice kept me listening.

Any opinion from a fan girl doesn't matter, so here's an opinion from a guy that used to like SWS five years ago.
Over the years, Kellin's voice has sounded more and more strained, and it has, as you can see in this video, finally reached a point where you can see it. He performs with backing tracks to fill in the place where he can't hit his own (studio) notes anymore.
I can't say anything about his personal life, as I know nothing, but there are probably suntan abuse issues causing him to not take care of himself, but this is only my speculation.
TL;DR - Kellin sucks now, but didn't always suck this bad.

never judge a live performance to a studio recorded version, there is time to take to record a song and correct parts in studio, it could be days to get it perfect.. live is always improvised and in all one take. this is an amazing live.

It wasn't horrible but I've definetly heard better from him. For all you people who think he can't sing, look up "If I'm James Dean, you're Audrey Hepburn" live and there's a recording of him killing it. Actually there's multiple recordings just some of them are acoustic. And that song goes higher than this one so yes he can hit the notes outside the studio, and you can be quiet about his voice. Kay? Bye.
