Thanks a million for this interesting history of Jeff Beck's guitars. It helps mostly for the sudden loss of this great guitarist, R.I.P. Jeff Beck.
Thank you for the kind words bro
I saw Jeff a dozen times from 1976 to 2014. Stunning every time.
I'm so grateful to have experienced him live again and again. Nothing like it.
See you at the next gig Jeff. 🕉 🎸
Cheers 🍻 everybody 👍
Seeing a picture of Jeff on CZcams one late night with RIP written across it was an out of body experience. This must be a joke.....no joke. My heart broke, my soul was shocked.
Blow by Blow came out in 1975, the year I graduated high school (!)
I saw Jeff in 1976 at Day On The Green 💚 what a rush- with Jan Hammer no less!
Next was 1989 with Stevie Ray.
I saw him many more times with the final show in 2014 with Z.Z. Top which was fantastic. They jammed at the end of their set.
Forever grateful for Jeff's unreal guitar artistry. 🕉 🎸
This episode was never so important as it is now that we've all lost a little bit of something much bigger than ourselves. A magnificent and very well done video. You had no idea what was to come.
All your work is very tasteful. You're a classy man. Take care.
Thanks so much indeed!
Jeff Beck is in a league of his own. And when he went Fender stratocaster and playing without a pick....his playing went beyond 🎸🎼🎵🎶❗️👍
I agree - its all about his right hand!
Rest in Peace Jeff Beck.
Goose is the man! I believe the term is OG. Stay tuned 5 Watt World is in the editing process of “the guitars of Jeff Beck” lol.
🤣🤣
Thanks bro
Jeff is one of a kind, we appreciate this!
Pleasure 🙏
I always say, that he plays in his own leaque.

The best strat player ever. I am constantly in awe with Beck's talent. Its way more than a guitar...its a unique musical movement!!
Amen
Beck gave Page that guitar for recommending Beck to the Yardbirds. They had no idea who Jeff Beck was.
But,they found out real quick and offered him the job upon seeing him play for the first time with the Tridents.
Fantastic Kenneth!
unbelievably awesome vid
Thanks so much!!!
Great look at Beck's Guitar history Ramon, great photo of Hendrix with the stripped LP !
Thanks!
Thanks so much for this great guitar tutorial, wow, what I have learned about Jeff's guitars today is amazing, I did wonder why Jeff was playing a guitar with an upside down headstock, now I know!
We guitar fans will all miss Jeff so very much, and still cannot believe the news, he was a supreme master of the guitar in every sense, RIP Jeff and thanks for so very much fabulous music and sounds!
You're very welcome!
dang it never ceases to amaze me how many musicians have had their guitars swiped
Jeff Beck is one of my top 5 favorite guitarists of all time. Ramon, you need to make a series on your favorite guitarists and their playing style. Thanks for this video.
That's a great idea...I will do that at some stage thanks for the brilliant idea.
I was wating for this one! Muchas gracias
My pleasure bro
I really like that strat with the reverse headstock. Was also cool to learn about the Jacksons he used to use.
I don’t even play guitar (since I was 12) but found this post compelling listening as I love guitar sound and adore Jeff Beck’s music. I listened to every word and watched every second.
I found this post as I was trawling for Beck tributes and have been doing so since hearing of his death last week.
His passing is a momentous loss to music and everything related to music but also to mankind as he was such a focussed and determined man who knew what he wanted. It is a terribly sad time and I know this post wasn’t intended as a tribute but none the less, it helps his legacy be understood. RIP Jeff Beck ❤🎶🙏 condolences to all his family and friends and fans
Wow, comprehensive to say the least
Thank you so much
It amazes me how many great players have had guitars stolen
Love these videos
Thanks Ryan
Well done! Excellent video
Thank you
Jeff Beck Live at Ronnie Scott's. 2007, With Vinnie Colaiuta, Tal Wilkenfeld and Jason Rebello. Thankfully that week ( 5 nights ) someone recorded the concerts for us to have and enjoy and remember.
Wonderful
VERY NICE!
Thank you very much
Cheers :)
My pleasure
Thanks
Best regards :)
Thankyou, fascinating !...

GREAT GUITAR VIDEO! Thanks for sharing it. Now I know why people call me and email me wanting some goodies from my big stash of 64-65-66 CTS pots. The 250K is the most requested, but some players have been trying 100K, 500K and one 1,000K (1 meg) pots with varying levels of satisfaction).
Thanks for this remember the route of Jeff Beck.....
Fantastic video! And yes, I stayed to the very end. Excellent work, thank you 👍
Thank you Paul!
Thanks Ramon for the best treatise on Jeff’s guitars. I started playing guitar because of Jeff and bought a Greco copy of the large head stock white strat in 1976 after seeing him on the cover of Wired. I was 13 years old.
Pleasure Peter, so cool you bought a Greco - great guitars
Really enjoyed this one Ramon, very thorough as always. The only slight error was , the Walker Brothers guitarist was actually called John Maus 👍
Thanks for thie correction and thanks for watching the video!!
30:04 About one minute of discussion regarding his 2-point floating Tremelo bridge setup, and zero about Nut although it was observed he previously used a "Wilkinson Roller" whatever and toyed with a Floyd Rose for a while some 30 years ago...
Thanks and cool name btw - big Peter Green fan here!
1000% agree with the thoughts you guys captured here. I loved Jeff Beck‘s guitar playing and the fact that he never lost anything as he progressed into his late 70s he was as good as ever. A model for all of us to follow if we can! We loved and will miss you dearly Mr. Beck!!
I remember the first solo Jeff Beck Album I bought was Side By Side and then I bought Wired. I still have those albums from the 70's till this day.
What do you say when a music genius , a guitar virtuoso passes.
Rolling Stone Magazine said he was # 5 of # 100 guitarist in the world to some he was # 1. One thing for sure no one else played or sounded like Jeff Beck . He was an original and will be missed.
Play on Jeff
🎶Rest Easy🎸
@00:23-00:24 Who is; "Lets Pull"? Otherwise a completely riveting, mind-numbing fact filled endeavor. Brilliant and Beck Awesome!
Thanks so much!! Sorry my Essex accent sometimes gets the better of me!
Thanks for the shout out to Jeff Beck. He, along with Hendrix, never played anything the same way twice, it seems. Yet the melodies always come through true. No one else does what he does, because he's always experimenting.
I agree, a supernatural player.
Outstanding !!!
I'm 8 in '65 and my older sister buys The Yardbirds single of "Heart Full Of Soul" which i loved.
Flip it over, there's 'Steeled Blues" by Jeff Beck.
Lifer thereafter.
History here is crazy !! Thank You !!
Thanks Glen
Awesome vid! Has your cooder caster come back from the paint shop?
Thanks Ramon, saw Jeff Beck live in Paris in 1991 with Tony Hymas and Terry Bozzio, it was great !
I can imagine - wish I was there!
I'm heartbroken....💔
Most Awesome.. Thank You :)
Pleasure Brian
Great job!
Thank you
I've never played any video as much as Jeff and band at Ronnie Scott's. I saw the original Truth band in Wash. DC on their first tour. No one from his era kept growing like Jeff. Brilliant work Guitar Show.
Thanks James.
I have a ‘93 (or ‘92) Strat Plus. It’s my first and only Fender Strat. Black body, rosewood neck, Gold Lace Sensors. I acquired it in ‘93. Thank you, Jeff.
How do you like it?
I have a '94 Stratocaster Plus, maple neck gold lace sensors.
I would prefer a hot rail sound at the bridge, so I might go for the red lace sensor there and maybe for all p'ups.
@@mahatmacote6478 It’s great. It was a huge upgrade from the Squier that I played prior to it. Squiers in the ‘80s were really shittier than the Squiers of today (I assume), but I liked my Squier at the time so you can imagine how thrilled I was once I upgraded. For me the Strat Plus was elegant in comparison. Now a couple years before I got the Fender I did upgrade the Squier pickups to a couple Lace Sensors in the neck and middle and a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge. Also, in 2010, my Fender Strat Plus’s locking tuners were missing so I had to have them replaced. You can see and hear it on my channel.
Nice channel, watched Jeff Beck guitars. Now moving on to my 2nd favorite English guitarist, Peter Green. Your channel appears to be a nice find, thank you. Eclectic videos , nice selection from playing styles to pedals!
That was great Ramon... thanx so much.
I dig the tone of the outro. Is there a full length version and (assuming it's you)
Could you tell me the signal chain and thanx in advance and geeze, I wish
and hope we can jam "who knows maybe someday baby" cheers matey
That would be so cool to jam! Yes It's my song - I ll try to upload the full version to my other channel
So many stolen/broken/missing guitars...!! 😱 I assembled myself a JB - type guitar: Warmoth basswood body, USACG roasted tight grain maple neck with rosewood fingerboard, abalone inlays (match with the matte Sonic blue paint), White Luminlay side dots that glow in the dark, compound radius and stainless steel frets, LSR roller nut, hipshot griplock staggered tuners (best in the market I would say), Wilkinson V 100 n trem and a tortoise HSH pickguard loaded with 2 Al 2 humbuckers (PAF 7,6 K like) and a central SD Ssl 2. One of the tone pots is a push push that triggers the neck pickup in all positions, the other one is a push pull that splits the humbuckers' coils. 🎸👍🏻😉
Nice Rene - I really like the USACG necks!
Cool! This should be great!
Thank you
@12:18 that's cool!
Love Jeff, still as cool as an iceberg, what a fantastic player, a one off, had a brilliant career, the guitarists guitarist
I agree Billy
Great video
Thank you
Thanks for sharing, Ramon. Insightful and well-researched as usual!
Thank you Will🙏🎸
Here after hearing the news. RIP Jeff
I saw the JBG on the Orange album tour. Max Middleton played about a 3 minute intro and then, 'Going Down', exploded. Jeff had the stripped Strat,
no strap, and did this thing where he put the headstock on the stage and then used the whole guitar and did a press-up with both feet off the ground,
The sound was beyond the beyond. The amp heads were hidden but he played thru 3 Bluesway cabs... each with 8 ten's.
Wow that's amazing!!!!!!
I saw him do that same headstock on the stage trick with Jan Hammer in LA. He spun around in a circle with his feet off the floor with a white strat. I was really close and I saw that he had 5 neck screws on the back instead of 4. I couldn't believe my eyes!
That sounds insane & a good way to break a guitar neck!
Thank you Ramon!
Great videos as always ☺️
My pleasure Craig
@The Guitar Show ... Excellent stuff Mate ... Thank You 👍
God bless you too
Thank you
While recording Guitar Shop, Jeff used an early 60s Fender Stratocaster he got from Seymour Duncan to record the album with. (read in a musicians mag back in 89) Photos of the guitar show that is was dirty yellow/beige in color with a rosewood fretboard. A problem arose while recording "Where Were You": There is a middle section where he hits a harmonic and pulls the note up more than a whole step. Tying to do this with the standard note didn't work. Thus, the Strat Plus was used for that section. (has a Wilkinson roller nut) The note would sustain with the metal nut.
Thanks for the info
The genius of his playing, closely linked to his highly individual technique, which he combined with his incredible creativity and his sensitive feeling for dynamics and his colorful intonation make Jeff Beck the immortal inspirer for music and everyone who loves music. That is the expression of the eternal soul, which is immortal one with the world spirit.
Beautifully and accurately put to us all Wolfgang von Boyen. He was everything that you described.
Another great video.
Best of luck with your channel.
Thank you.
Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏🎸
Jeff played a Sunburst Les Paul when I saw him at the Fillmore West on the tribute to Les Paul tour. You said he only used what you described twice. So either he used it on the tour or had another similar one. It sounded great. I'd been wanting to see him play one since he'd all but stopped since the 70's.
It's so informative, thanks 👍
A brilliant video, really excellent, thank you 🙏
Thanks Nick
Jeff was just the most unique player out there. Sublime player beyond compare
Fabulous. Love some of Jeff's quotes, the tremolo arm 'a disgrace to technology' etc. Lol.
Thanks - yes Jeff was the real deal
Thank you for this! So Beck had some history w/ Strats before, but I've always wondered if his shift from the LP on "Truth" to a Strat on "Beck-Ola" wasn't inspired by Hendrix in some way...? He had such a huge impact on the English guitar scene...did you ever run across anything in your research that might suggest this? (well, perhaps not, or you might have included it, now that I think of it!)... Cheers!
Well done Sherlock, you should be in Scotland Yard . Great detail and very good narration. All the best
Thank you so much Alan, that's a big compliment!
👍👍👍tnx👍👍👍
Enjoyed the lesson mate, it never fails to amaze me the amount of guitars these fellas get stolen. 😠👍🥃Respect to you mate
Thanks for watching bro
Excellent video very interesting, Jeffs superb, I saw him at the O2 a few years ago. Can you do a short video on my favourite guitarist Rory. 😉
Thanks so much.... actually I did a guitar history on Rory a while back ...let me post you the link ...
czcams.com/video/kiSj7bzkKJ4/video.html
Rory indeed!
2 guitarists that get over looked Frank Zappa and a guitarist for Quicksilver, he rewired his amps in 1965 in very unique way- worth looking into for the progressive approach!
Incredible work!
Thank you
Finally someone else has verified the existence of the right-handed Strat with the upside-down leftie neck that I've seen a few times in vintage footage of Beck! I couldn't find a reference to it anywhere before this...
Thanks 🙏
Rest in Peace, Jeff.
😢😢😢
Yeah, he was always one of my biggest influences so I'm still shaken up by it... undoubtedly one of the greatest players of all time
You always make Great videos 👍👍
Thank you 🙏🎸
Wow in all this, not one schecter guitar. I used to see ads depicting Jeff using schecters. So I guess that was all BS. Still looking at schectors though, I like the ones with sustainiacs.
Thanks bro
When Jimi played Jeff's Les Paul it was the only time most likely he ever played with the strings upside down.
Many people seem to think Jimi played upside down since he's on a right-handed guitar. There are players that have learned that way with no left-handed guitars available.
But....Jimi knew better and re-strung a right-handed guitar for his use! Revelation!
So its interesting to see him play that way- not easily done.
nice job, thanks
Great video Ramon. 👍🏽👌🏽
Very informative and excellently prepared and presented.
Thank you Will
Amazing overview! Well researched thx.
Much appreciated!
Love your vids! Cheers! 💚🎸
Thank you kindly!
Thank-you for this video. I was particularly interested in what happened to Jeff's first two Les Pauls. The second one had a stuning, one of a kind tiger maple top.
Great video Goose! I had a Strat with the noiseless pick ups for a few years but I really prefer regular p/u’s maybe because my first electric was a 72 Fender American standard. I guess I like the 60 cycle hum.
Thanks Dave, Ditto re traditional strat pickups!
Thanks, this has some good details I haven't heard elsewhere. Nice work!
Thank you 🙏🎸
The Master. RIP.

great video
thank you

Going to see my all time favorite player again in a couple of weeks. It feels like the first time 50 years ago. Very excited
So cool have a great time bro
Hey, that’s Strings n Things in Chatham Ontario Canada….. wrong store, but it’s cool seeing the store I used to work at in a Jeff Beck video lol
In 1976, I traded-in my dream guitar '74 Olympic White/ Maple-neck Fender Stratocaster for a new Gibson Les Paul Deluxe Dark Wine with cream-colored pickguard and p/u surrounds because it closely resembled Jeff Beck's guitar on the cover of 'Blow By Blow'. In '84 I traded the Gibson for a Strat and never looked back.
I miss Jeff so much!
My best friend ever, Bernard Brausewetter had a band "BB and the Stingers". Bernie passed in 2007, but I'll never forget the story he told me. He was at Les Pauls 90(?)th Birthday party at Fat Tuesdays in NYC. He said he was handed a guitar and asked to play to the crowd. He told me the guitar was like an egg slicer, but he didn't have a slide bar with him, so he did his best. I remember him saying to me..."Bill, I walked off that stage after playing, and there in front of me was Jeff Beck, he gave me this big smile, and a thumbs up!" he continued saying that his body temp probably went up 4 degrees and he almost puked! "Billy! Jeff FREAKIN Beck gave me a thumbs up!" A week or so previously, (though he was a Fender guy, like JB) he got his black " Gibson Les Paul" signed in white by, guess who? Les Paul. I don't know what made him shine the greater... Les signing his Les, or Jeff Becks thumbs up. I miss Bernie terribly. Friends since 1st grade, best fishing buddy ever. czcams.com/video/SOAOADtB6oU/video.html
Lovely comment, thank you Bill.
You didn’t mention the Steve Ackworth Tele used on the Guitar Shop album.
Sorry - and thanks for mentioning it
Awesome guitar player
Agreed
Nice one.
Thank you Alan
His hot rod yellow Ford was a '32, not a '52 and 'Freeway Jam' was played with a Strat (tremolo usage).
Thanks for the correction
@@TheGuitarShow sure thing!
This was fantastic. Thank you for all your hard work and research. Do you think you could do one on Jeff’s amps?
Thanks and thanks for the suggestion! I will do his amps and effects very soon

This was great. Allow me to suggest two Telemasters I was lucky enough to see in NYC before thir respective ends. Roy Buchanan and Danny Gatton. Or Albert Lee and Albert Collins. Or Buddy Guy, Otis Spann or Magic Sam. B.B. King. I do the suggesting and you get to do the hard work. Sounds like a good deal for me!
I will gladly cover all you mention here - watch this space!
When I was at college in south London in the mid 70's, I used to go to the music/guitar shop in Bromley, name of which escapes me now... One day I was in there window shopping & a guy came in & put a case on the counter. Inside was Jeff Beck's oxblood Les Paul, with a broken neck. It must have been his roadie bringing it in for repair & it was quickly swept away out back. Having read the story below, I can imagine how this happened!
thanks for the anecdote - amazing!
@@TheGuitarShow It must have been '75 or '76 as I only recognised the guitar from the Blow by Blow cover; there was only one of those Les Pauls!
@@robinstokes5179 yes I agree
Great never before seen pics & info. N3 pickups no longer manufactured? Did the orientation of N3 N&M position alnico change from factory(N=A3, M=A2, B=A5); stated in different order in video? -
