I have multiple sun ringle wheelsets and they were a great fit for my budget. Sun Ringle also has high end wheelsets that are great.
I have never seen wheels that come with two freehubs. Especially not cheaper wheels.
That seems really nice.
I've got a Sunringle Wheelset, which are just rebranded Answer ATAC rims. They're built on DT Swiss hubs and have been solid. Wheelset weight is 1750g in 27.5.
My first wheel build was with Sunringlé rims. They were the cheapest alloy rims at the shop. I didn't expect my wheel building ability to hold up. But that was over 20 years ago and they are now on my my daily winter commuter bike. How those sidewalls haven't cracked is beyond me as I do no maintenace on that bike. Maybe a little heft is worth it for incredible longevity. Money well spent!
Running sunringle 35's on my hard tail right now. Take a beating and keep on ticking. No complaints from me and great price to boot.
The rims will be really good for your needs on this bike.
Raced DH for 1 year on these rims and "only" needed about 5 of them.
That's not more than other brands for myself and on my Enduro bike they hold up perfectly
I bought this exact set up for a bargain £142 here in the UK about a year ago. Fully made up wheelset with the sealant and tubeless valves etc. I’m a heavy rider at 220lb and they’ve held up no problems 👍🏼
@@LoveMTB Thanks. I sold my old WTBs on for £90 too 😁
i bought used sunringle duroc 30 29" wheels, added roughly 2000km on the already used rims and have absolutly no problems with them. running perfectly round and smooth without any work done to them.
btw = i paid 50€ including shipping for them. great deal, i dont know what they were at new price
@@LoveMTB in fact it was a hayes performance systems (sun ringle manufacturing company) employee xD
I use Sunringle Duroc35 with Koozer Hubs and im quite satisfied with the performance.
had sunringle wheels, not cheap ones but rather in the mid range, very happy with them.
which ones were those mate?
DT all the way now, but used sunringle for ages before I got into building my own bikes. Never had any issues with them. Used to have duroc 35 up front, with the 30 on the rear.
@@LoveMTB They are decent wheelsets to be fair. If I bought a bike with these on, I'd probably keep them until they were wrecked, only upgrading to DT when the time was right. Can't beat the tooless maintenance on the DT hubs ;) Didn't realise the SRC hubs were 12deg POE either. How much did you pay for them if you don't mind me asking?
Great wheels for the money. Very strong rim and I ride a nukeproof scout hardtail. The hubs lack engagement so I ended up swapping out the hubs but I will continue by the rims to relace to the new hubs. Very strong wheels.
Dinged mine on my Scout Comp after 300km. Done thousands on some Spank Oozy Trail 395+, never any issues. If buying them retail I would spend a little more on Spanks.
@@CanonFirefly thanks for the heads-up on sometime stronger. I heard great things about spank wheels.
I got my wheels from commencal when I got my meta ht frame, they’re e13 trs rims on formula hubs with 78 points of engagement! Only cost me €230
I'm building a bikepacking/off-road bike the Nordest Sardinha 2. I bought the model Duroc 40 Expert Boost (29") they looks pretty strong and well built
I have Duroc 42s (36 mm internal) on my ebike with 2.6 tires. So far (after 1600 km) the rims and hubs seem to be solid, but the spoke tension needed some attention after ca 1000 km.
I too had gone with SunRingle Duroc 35 wheels. However, after two complete freehub failures, I decided to drop SunRingle and go with Stan's. Glad I switched. Good luck with the Durocs.
@@LoveMTB BTW, I thoroughly enjoy your videos. Keep it up and stay safe.
Hello, good review there. I just decided to buy the SUNRngle, but I'm only getting the 30. Can I put enduro 2.5 tires on the SUNRingle 30 with 26mm internal width?
My bike came with SunRingle Duroc 40 rims been riding them for 2 years now without issues seem to hold up well
Hello, I just want to ask there are 2 variations in duroc rims "SLEEVED and "WELDED" what should I choose?
Do you know if the HG driver freehub body is aluminum or steel?
when you said cheap I thought it was around the USD 300 mark for both wheels not 300 each... lol.... but really how does that compare to similar priced ones like the raceface atlas, no tubes s1,or even custom wheels with hope hubs?
Nice wheels came stock on my Nukeproof scout comp 2020 , just couldn't get hold of a microspline for them here in Germany , bougt some DT swiss XM 1700 spline .. but keeping the sunringle ones for reserve. What do they cost new as a set ? Great video once again . Cheers .
I've got Nukeproof scout comp 2021(!), microspline hub is preinstalled together with 12 speed Deore drivetrain.
They came with my Elkat, nice rims they sure take hit. No problems with them so far
@@LoveMTB last saturday I had a very bad crash. They survived without a scratch
@@LoveMTB hopefully there was grass bigger than me and it helps absorbs the impact.
@@LoveMTB just a little to your south on Puerto Rico. Now following you on Insta yei!
I already have a Nuke proof horizon in the rear and cant find any matching front wheels. planing on get the front wheel of this
@@LoveMTB the new one like V2
👍🏻 I want these but can’t find them lol , I have right now 40mm sun with 2.8 on them that came with my bike.
@@LoveMTB from worldwide cyclery ?
Are these sealed bearing hubs?
These rims were on my Silverback Slade, and that was a VERY cheap bike. Wheels are OK, these ran with tubes for around a year - the tubes cut the tape on some of the spoke holes, so had to tape over. Mine have eyelets for the spoke nipples.
Good choice.
I have the duroc expert 35's. Only issue I found is potentially a big one. Wrong lubricant in the freehub.
Grease needs to be removed from the pawls and replaced with something like triflow.
I have such a wheelset of 27.5, came complete with the Canyon Spectral. I did not weigh them, I trusted the information from the canyon website, where the front wheel weighs 898, and the rear wheel weighs 998. As it turned out, this is not the case.... For 2 years, there have been no problems so far.
@@LoveMTB I know guys who ride these wheels and jump over big spans. Some of them had broken spokes near the nipple after a year of jumping, but the rims were still intact. How did you install a camera without a camera? Could the sealant have leaked through the rim seam?
i have sunringle add expert on my downhill mtb, they are really good and very strong
Has anyone tried the Expert version of these?? Are they any different or better maybe or there's no difference whatsoever...would like to hear some thoughts, thank you!! ;)
Look nice but I will go to hunt wheels first. They are just amazing
Does the 29 inch version come with the same stuff?
@@LoveMTB ok thx dude
I used some Sun Ringlé, which came with my RM Altitude when I purchased the bike but changed them pretty quickly because they were too heavy.
OEM on my Rocky mountain powerplay, so can't be that bad!
@@LoveMTB Slightly untrue after three years, but robust! with Dt350 hubs
OEM on my Silverback Slade Comp so can't be that good :-)
@@hindesite That’s BS and you know it! It’s not the bike companies job to get YOU the highest end components on their bike frames. That’s YOUR job. The bikes companies always switch component levels to adjust for profitability and availability. There many cases recently where VERY high end bike frames are outfitted with components that would be filed under the “shit” tier of quality. I’ve been using a set of Sun Ringle wheels for 16 years without any issues. They’re bulletproof if you maintain them. The right tool for the job is always the way to go.
They're heavy, but they look serviceable. I'd personally go with Hunt or Stan's ARCH for any serious trail riding. Do they make these for 26" wheels?
What is the max. width of tire you can run on these wheels?
From the manufacturer site: "The range of supported tires is: 1.95~3.0 inches."
The Nukeproof Reactor has these wheels. RRP £3k, currently £2k on sale.... I am just contemplating buying...
Not bad wheels!
Duroc 40 can use continental race king 2.2 Tyre?
@@LoveMTB Thank you 😄
I bought Chargers, awesome, tough trail wheels.
Hi 👋🏽 can you tell me if rims are good quality? Thanks a lot !
They were good to me! Don’t have them anymore
@@LoveMTB sorry but I have another question, can I use an inner 30 millimetres wide rim with a 2.25-2.3 tyre ? Because I want this Duroc for my XC bike the thing here isn’t boost. Even though I’m using Tufo Tyres with an ETRTO of 60. And I have plenty of space.
I guess you could the tire might just get too square and the cornering would be very on/off, increased rolling resistance, etc. All the good stuff 😊@@adriancabrera3014
I don't see why it is heavy. The 29er Duroc 40mm is lighter than Race face Arc 40.
“Not light by any means, but hey it was cheap.“ Now that’s a ringing endorsement if I ever heard one.
@@LoveMTB so true. And by the way thanks for the great review. These are factory spec on a bike I’m looking at (RSD Ti Middlechild), and wanted a little more info. Was hoping for more points of engagement and a lighter package on a $5k bike, but seems pretty solid overall.
@@LoveMTB fair point. Thanks
Where can we get set ?
@@LoveMTB ebay !!
Look at the nukeproof horizon wheels, they are really solid for the price (400$ wheelset) from what ive heard. I plan on putting them on my commencal meta ht am. Metagang!
Metagang for me aswell
Did I miss the price? Duroc 40s held up for me and I am no small guy lol.
@@LoveMTB ty good deal!!
@@LoveMTB seriously? where'd you get them? the ones that appear in google are at least 500-600USD
on the hayes website it says the front wheel should weigh in at 883g
@@LoveMTB thx
Probably just going to get the neutron thats on a 10%off sale and a 58%off nuke proof horizon V1 carbon riser bar
@@LoveMTB thx
Is the branding decals are stickers?
Not on these, it’s paint I think
@@LoveMTB is there any possibility that those come with sticker decals are fake?
I would doubt it, can be different runs in their production. Fake for such a low cost product is possible but not probable?@@phil5073
@@LoveMTB copy that. Much love from Philippines.
Cheers from Canada bud!@@phil5073
Valves are installed
@@LoveMTB I posted this @1:40 and then soon after realised that you didn't get the valves. Hope you had a set at home 👍🏻
They used to be a top brand of wheels... So... They must be good
This frame is 27,5? 😱
@@LoveMTB 27,5 plus? Ok
I would definitely not call this wheelset cheap if the price as the link to this video(worldwidecyclery) states is just shy of 500usd. for that I can get 1400-1500gram wheels on other e-stores.
@@LoveMTB Took a look again, the 35 front was like just above 200usd and the rear just above 300. cant see any other duroc 35 on that site.
Then you got them from some other store or something?
Marketing seems a bit sketchy.
Rim width, lack of valves.
Sounds like they are pretty stout tho.
I would pop off them bearing seals and jam some shimano grease in there.
But besides that. Idk seem ok for riding.
I do know some peeps that are going with the same type of builds but with carbon 35mm id rims. Idk rockum for a bit then have them tightened up. Should be solid.
@@LoveMTB were they lean on grease or full
I just serviced all my bikes. Bb, hubs, headset, pedals, rear sus. I use that green shimano grease but for sus bearings it seems the manufactures use something much thicker and tacky. Like the grease that comes inside new chains. Have not found out what it is.
Any clues?
