    We used a GT23V from a CDI Merc Estate And had it rebuilt with a bigger compressor wheel. From memory was good for 350bhp absolutely flew. Fitted on every Merc Engine from 4 cylinder right up to 6 cylinder definitely recommend this along with bigger inlet piping, AMG injectors or larger, bigger Fuel pump if it's mechanical, intercooler, and remap will Give you very impressive Numbers.

    So I have a e36 coupe sitting waiting for me to decide on an engine to throw in it and im considering the Mercedes om60x platform. Do you think it would be possible to fit a turbo om606 making about 500whp would fit or should I go with a om605 making about 450whp
    Edit: I forgot to mention this build would be a streetcar that I can take drifting

    My mistake; I was not correct re: EGR valve function being to prevent or reduce crankcase pressure due to imperfect piston rings. So previous question does not apply!
    Still curious about where/how crankcase gasses in the OM6xx engines get vented.
    I know that one of the ways to assess diesel engine "blow-by", caused by crankcase gas pressure, is to loosen the oil filler cap and let it sit on the opening with the engine running. If the cap is dancing violently, as if the gasses within the valve cover are trying to blow it off, it indicates a lot of the combustion gasses are getting by the piston rings, which pressurizes the crankcase, which vents them through the valve covers via the oil return galleys.

      @bigfather1279 Před 8 měsíci

      As you said ure not correct, EGR dont participate in the reduction of cranckase pressure.

    I'm in the market for a diesel W124 sedan. I have a question re: EGR valve deletion. Seen many videos that praise this procedure as it results in cleaner air into the intake system; less soot into the intake valves, better breathing, maybe a little better performance and economy. EGR valves re-direct crankcase gasses back into the intake system for pollution purpose and to prevent crankcases pressure build-up. So my question is, if you delete the EGR valve and block the exhaust port going from crankcase to the valve, how are the gasses that are in the crankcase being vented to prevent pressure build-up? Thanks

      @dorsk84 Před 10 měsíci

      EGR = Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve. This is different from the Positive Crankcase pressure relief valve. The EGR in older vehicles can just be blocked off (I've done it many times) the Crankcase one can just be vented to atmosphere, or a catchcan.

    Funny:
    You are highlighting the ventury effect on these dimples as being huge ....
    ... BMW M57 drivers are deleating the swivel flaps in the manifold. Which are supposed to have a similar effect.

    • @Diesel8290
      @Diesel8290 Před 11 měsíci

      The swivel flaps in m57’s are only an issue when they break off and the engine tries to eat them 🙈

      People only delete them because they're a reliability hazard. I removed the ones in my M47, I know thay they were there for a reason, but it's not worth losing an engine for it.

      I am sure they last easy 100k. There will be a note in the BMW service book.
      Here in GER noone drives a car longer than 100k. THAN 2. hand buyers make nor service, 3. one buys, than we have 250k those break.
