  • There are many scenarios in sewing where you'll need to sew curves and corners, so that's where this episode comes in! I'm demonstrating how to sew, trim, and press convex (outer) curves, concave (inner) curves, plus outer and inner corners.

    Videos like this are really great for beginners because you cover steps that many teachers often forget to mention. Things like how do you figure out of you've sewn far enough to turn the corner and get the right seam allowance, and then how to bring the seam to the finish line by pressing it. When I previously tried to learn how to sew these are the things that got shoved under the advice of "just practice" without anyone saying what I should be doing. So it's really great that you're doing these step by step breakdowns.
    Also you live in Florida. It would be weird if we *didn't* see a bug from time to time. (I say, having lived in New Orleans myself) ;)

      Thank you! I think people doing tutorial videos sometimes forget that true beginners are literally starting from zero and need basics. So that's what these types of videos are for.

    Thank you for an informative and very helpful video!
    I (on a different note) appreciate that you demonstrate the technique very clearlt without taking forever to explain it first - you explain as you demonstrate. It make the video very practical, and carries the pace at a very comfortable speed. Thank you!

    Hi Jen, that was an excellent video and the techniques perfectly illustrated! I always put clips in my curves, I just didn't realize the difference between just putting slots and cutting them out. Thank you very much!

    What would you suggest doing with fleece with a curve? Like the length and everything like that? I'm very new to this and I'm getting very frustrated

    Thanks for all your great videos! Question - I see you're backstitching while using the walking foot - is that the original one that comes with the CS7000i? How does it take the backstitching? I just got my CS7000i and am afraid to cause damage to it but am not sure how to avoid it in this case.

    • @SewingReport
      @SewingReport  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, the walking foot comes with that model. You're not technically supposed to backstitch with it, but I do. All the time. Another way around it is to completely flip your fabric around 180 degrees and sew forward over the same stitches.

  • @churchnazi1
    @churchnazi1 Před 3 lety

    I thought you would cut the convex curves right at the round part and not all the way? I'll keep practicing. Patience, right.
