Honestly the game itself is very fun with some amazing new characters but Trap Team's biggest problem is how inaccessible it is for casual players who aren't willing to buy a trap master for every element and a trap for every element just to experience the game as it was intended. Overall a very fun game that I love to stream however.

@Books and Tv Geek i loved the game like u said but when i played it i was like 6 or 7 or something so i did let my parents buy it for me i probably just feel alot of nonstalgia
hot take: the vehicle sections in superchargers were sometimes tedious and unnecessary, but the game’s main strength is its non vehicle level design and concepts this game has some of the most creative and innovative levels in the series and constantly introduces new ideas and ways to platform and do combat for example: cluck’s level made such good use of the grow/shrink mechanic and managed to apply it to more than just simple puzzles - some of my favorites are growing chicken wings into full chickens for more health and shrinking the hammerhead enemies so they have to kick you instead of hammering you it’s not the best skylander game but i think its strengths are criminally underlooked
Really well put together video! Your reasons for the placement of each game was well argued and well developed. As someone whose only played swap force and spyros adventure, I was very happy to see swap force at the top. Great video all around 😀
I’m just gonna say this: In swap force, if you can get a second controller, you don’t need swap characters to open an elemental gate. It can be 2 normal skylanders
Tbh I think that spyros adventure is at a large disadvantage on lots of these lists because of that fact that its the original, and the primary gimmick was the slylanders themselves. That causes most people to overlook the game because most of the best aspects were kept in the rest of the game. Its kind of like if every game were to have traps form trap team, plus whatever gimmick each game has to offer, then people probabally wouldnt like trap team as much. Thank you for listening to my ted talk.
@@kryptkrusher thank you. I completely respect your opinion, and agree with a lot of your points. Probabally the main reason I preger the older games is because I have never played swap force, and therefore was kind of dissapointed at all of the differences between trap team and giants, which probabally wouldnt have happend if I got the smooth transition of swap force, which I began to asscosiate with trap team a little too much. I also think the firat two probabally scored a little bit of nostalgia points, because spyros adventure was my first real game, and giants was a long awaited sequel.
@Books and Tv Geek It is the Wii for some of your concerns, actually, if you look at comparisons the game looks significantly better on other consoles! I also encountered zero crashes on my playthrough on Xbox. It may not have been *your* Wii but I think it was *the* Wii.
My list would probably be 6. SSA (I just find the levels a bit underwhelming) 5. Imaginators 4. Swamp force 3. Giants 2. Superchargers (very under appreciated for sure) 1. Trap team
My list: 6. Superchargers I love racing games. So the fact that they managed to combine vehicles and Skylanders to create such a mediocre game is astounding. The game had an amazing plot and the racing mode was pretty fun, but outside of that the game is just a pile of meh with little replayability. I felt like if the developers took another year to develop this one it would be a whole lot better. 5. Imaginators You can definitely tell the developers started to run outta ideas for this one. Unlike Superchargers, this game had a pretty forgettable story and while the Senseis are cool and all, they were way too overpowered and gave little reason to use the other Skylanders. And what was up with removing the hats, elemental zones, nicknames etc? Those were all perfectly fine features that should've been kept! On the positive side, creating Imaginators was a pretty cool feature and the amount of other sidequests makes the game a lot more enjoyable that Superchargers. 4. Swap Force Swapping two parts of a Skylander has to be the most creative gimmick I've seen in any video game ever. Like dang, what inspired the developers to switch parts of a Skylander? It's so random, but so cool at the same time. Like Imaginators, it has lots of other sidequests to do. My problem with this game is the level time. It felt like the chapters sometimes dragged out WAY to long. I also wasn't a fan of the "swap zones" or whatever the heck they are called. But overall, this game is solid. 3. Spyro's Adventure The very first game in the series remains a true classic and a joy to play. This game definitely did an excellent job of establishing the mystical world known as the Skylands. The story is good and the character designs are some of the most memorable with iconic characters such as Eruptor, Stealth Elf, Gill Grunt, and more. Since it's the first game of the franchise, it lacks many of the quality upgrades brought in future installments such as being able to jump, speeding up the upgrade cutscenes, catchphrases, the difficulty setting etc. Other that that, I have no complaints. 2. Trap Team This game had it all. Good story? Check. Awesome gimmick? Trapping the villains and playing as them is almost as amazing as swapping skylanders. Fun and creative character designs? You bet. The Trap Masters are some of the most fun skylanders to play with for some reason. There's no "bad" characters imo. Postgame? Plenty. Not as much as some of the others, but still lots to do. My only issue is it felt like the games missing that whole "mystical" feeling the first three games brought. I don't know what is, but it definitely felt like this game was missing something. It also introduced some of the lamest core skylanders in the franchise. Outside of High Five, Trail Blazer, and Blades, they are mostly forgettable and uninteresting. And what's the deal with only 5 remade skylanders? That really triggers a perfectionist like me. Either make one for each element or don't do them at all. I know those last few things were nitpicky, but that just goes to show how great this game is if most of my complaints are minor and personal. It's not perfect, but its damn near close to it. 1. Giants The second game in the franchise took everything good in Spyro's Adventure and expanded on it. Like Trap Team's trap masters, I thoroughly enjoyed playing with each and every giant character. It's so satisfying doing things like throwing massive boulders at enemies, stepping on smaller ones to K.O them instantly, and pulling freaking ISLANDS with chains! (Seriously, that's so rad!) The level pacing has to be the best in the whole series. There's no wasted time and there are barely any "filler" chapters. The new core characters are almost as iconic as ones in the first game with ones like Pop Fizz, Jet Vac, Shroomboom, Chill etc. It also introduced the first and best version of Skystones. All the rest felt watered down in comparison. The best thing about Giants has to be how they didn't try too hard to add a bunch of gimmicks like the future games did. It's basically Spyro's Adventure, but with lots of little improvements that made a much higher quality game. Sure, there was the whole Giants thing. But you didn't NEED them for anything. They're just fun as hell to play with. Take Superchargers for example. It felt like 70% of the game was vehicles, racing, vehicles. And Trap Team was centered around the whole "trap the villains" feature (It was cool and all, but you get my point.) Giants didn't try too hard with the gimmicks, and therefore resulted in barely any lame features that were included for the sake of adding something new. If I had to make some complaints, I do wish there were atleast 20 chapters. 15 is a bit on the short side. The battle packs were by far some of the lamest packs ever released. They should've just stuck with Adventure Packs. Also, you can't jump which still kinda stinks. But this is overall my favorite game of this franchise and I don't think it will ever change unless they remake it and add some quality upgrades and graphics to it. (Hint hint Activison!) When it's all said and done, I enjoy every single Skylanders game to this day outside of Superchargers. They should really make some more games for this series. The problem before is that there were so many figure to buy that people just got overwhelmed and stopped buying them completely. If they were to ever do more skylanders games, they should release them every two years instead. This way, it both gives the developers more time to create a quality game and keeps the fans interested without bombarding them with game after game each year. I doubt they'll ever bring back Skylanders, but it's still fun to dream.
The first one (Spyros Adventure) is hands down my favourite Skylanders game. The cutscenes when building the core of light is incredible and I still watch them to this day. The story is great.
I remember trying to get the no hit on Swap Force’s final boss. One of the most memorable runs was the one where the game crashed right before I finished him off. Sad. I did end up getting it, though.
This was a very nice video. I've never had a chance to play Skylanders but I have fond memories of watching Drill-X boss fight on CZcams and getting to see the commercials for Swap Force growing up. It's nice to see the best and worst parts of each game and has influenced my decision on which one I would like to eventually try first. So thank you for that.
It may just be the nostalgia factor, but Spyro's and Giants are my tied for first place games, bug you do bring up very valid points. I did think the camera angles in Spyro's were a bit weird lol. Mostly, I agree with these placements though, nice vid!
I would put Swap Force in #1 too, my one complaint is how abysmally they handled Nightmare difficulty in it. It's 100% just bigger numbers so that every fight is a slog. I really wish I could play it in Trap Team, but my disk is scratched in such a way that Chapter 5 is impossible. From what I did get to play of it, though, it handled Nightmare so much better, with actually more challenging attack patterns in boss fights and so on.
My favorite would be Trap Team, only because I loved the concept, story, villains, characters, and Kaos was amazing. And collecting all the figures, and specifically the traps. It was fun to play as Pop Fizz too.
I feel like everyone is putting Spyros Adventure at number 1 because it was the first game. Sure it was a great game but the graphics werent nearly as good as Trap Team. Btw my list from best to worst game : Trap Team Swap Force Imaginators Spyro's Adventure Giants Superchargers
Trap Team is my favorite too, my ranking would go; Trap Team Giants Swap Force Spyro's Adventure Imaginators Superchargers Imo the first 4 were the Golden Age of the series, Superchargers was just okay, and while Imaginators was good, I felt like it lacked the quality and replayability of the first 4.
Swap force is my favourite game because of the levels, the enemies and the woodburrow setting is so beautiful in my opinion and it introduces a new character to the series kaos’s mother.Even though the music wasn’t really that good, I had an absolute blast playing swap force 10/10!
Personally (without ever playing spyros adventure) here’s my list: 5) Supercharger: very forgettable and the ‘new’ characters sucked 4) Swap force: now don’t get me wrong, I love swap force and it was my introduction to sky landers but I haven’t replayed it much and the gimmick doesn’t really appeal to me 3) Giants: reasons outlined in the video. Short and sweet, nuff said 2) Imaginatiors: now I know this is controversial but I have ALWAYS wanted to design a sky lander, it was as if this game was made for me 1) Trap Team: incredible levels, incredible bosses, best characters, fantastic story, great gimmick
The thing I loved about Giants was the Cali challenge levels because with those you could truly show how much effort you put into your skylanders max potential as apposed to other skylanders games where the levels were the main focus, just my option tho:)
I already had a ranking in my head of the Skylanders games and I thought that nobody else would also have that ranking… Lo and behold this video is my ranking exactly. Good job
Finally someone who really understand the real beauty of Swap Force I only agree in part because trap team I would put him under spyro adventure and giant second, but it's a minor thing that you can pass over, counting that there are very few people who consider Swap Force the best despite being hands down a real masterpiece
@@camille6730 NAH NAH, Trap Team is literally SO unpolished. It has an ok story, all of your older characters are USELESS. Gimmick is great. It is the buggiest Skylanders game, most of the villains are a waste. It's a HUGE cashgrab and you need 11 traps and 10 trap masters to 100% the game while the trap masters are SUPER expensive. Still, I love the game, it is just too overrated Imo. Superchargers is amazing. Imaginators is good, just could've been better.
@@satyahira2699 I can agree in part, since I would put Imaginators last, than trap team, super chargers, spyro adventures, giants and first of all Swap Force
what’s your favorite sky lander mine is the robot dragon from the first game also my list 1.trap team 2.swap force 3. Spyro’s adventure 4.giants 5. Super chargers 6. Imaginators
Trap Team was my first foray into the Skylanders series, good gods I am glad I got that game first for some reasons, like, as you said, easily one of the best of the games in combat, art style, and story. Only problem was, we only had a Nintendo Wii at the time, so we got the Wii version, which was and still is not nearly as good looking and occasionally laggy even with the downgraded graphics. Hell, in the Dreamcatcher fight, there's a good chance of your game outright crashing on the Wii version, so for awhile I was stuck on that fight. All in all I'd say it's a good game, but I'm gonna see if I can find an Xbox One version of the game so that way I can play it with much better graphics and frame rate.
This is my ranking (I havent played giants so i will be excluding that) 5. Imaginators, loved how they brought back villains and also loved the senseis and the imaginators, hated the story and also hated how they made certain skylanders npc's 4. Superchargers, i really enjoyed the plot, but hated how almost half the new skylanders were just old skylanders being brought back 3. Spyro's adventure, great plot, a lot of great skylanders, but it also just felt kinda slow and repeatitive 2. Swap Force, fantastic plot, a lot of great skylanders, but a lot of the npc's with the exclusion of flynn, tessa, and sharpfin were just boring to me 1. Trap Team. I loved the villains, loved the skylanders, loved the plot and loved how it intorudced two new elements
I %100 agree with this list. I also wanted to add how overpowered some of the swappers are aswell. Is you try spy-shift. Super powerful and spam shots, paired with dashes and multiple lives. Its too op.
i can deifinetley agree with this, only i would put trap team first and swap force second, only because i love the gimmick of capturing the villians and the introduction to light and dark elements, also the fact that you have both brocks rumble club and the kaos's doom challenge definetley gives the game more things to do even after beating the main story, all the secret things you can find in the academy and the skystones, i mean giants skystones was the best out of them all but trap teams skystones is still quite enjoyable and how you get a villains skystone after beating a villian.
I would really like to go in depth but no one wants to read all that so I'll keep my liist short and sweet: 6. Imaginators - the Sensei and character creation is fun, everything else mostly meh 5. Spyro's Adventure - despite the fact that I can't play as most of my favorite characters, still a good game 4. Giants - I like it slightly better because it has more characters and slightly more stuff to enjoy 3. Swap Force - Lots of well done characters and the swap.gimic is always fun. I love combining different attacks together 2. Trap Team - Trap Masters, Villains, Story, Combat, all good 1. Superchargers - Story and Characters are the best they've ever been, gameplay for the most part, I like. And levels are also some of the best. Wow I still managed to make that long somehow.
I have Swap Force and Spyro’s Adventure, and if I am being completely honest I prefer Spyro’s Adventure over Swap Force. They are both great games, it’s just preference I guess
I definitely agree. Swap Force is by far the best. It’s my favorite out of all of them and the swapping mechanic and the cast of characters was so cool!
Sky landers trap team was my personal favorite I like the idea of taking the villains and using them a lot of the villains are very cool and it’s fun to use them and the new heroes are amazing there designs are amazing and the new villains designs are also good I also love the home island and all the things you can do on it
My personal list: 6. Imaginators: dumb storyline and easy 5. Superchargers: good storyline but the gimmick is...eh 4. Spyro’s adventures: fun and nostalgic but easy 3. Giants: skystones and fun levels 2. Trap Team: great gimmick and storyline 1. Swap Force: great storyline, gimmick and graphics Btw I love all the skylanders games and this video 👍

I marathoned all of the Skylanders games a few months ago, just like I normally do every year, and I actually used characters I don't normally use anymore, and Chill was one of them, and she's better than I remember her being. Also what's the beef with Sprocket? Pop Fizz is def my favorite Non-Giant from Giants, but my second would either be Sprocket or Jet Vac.
I would completely agree with this list, I’d probs put giants in 2nd because nostalgia and it being my intro to skylanders, but from an unbiased POV your list is great

for example: cluck’s level made such good use of the grow/shrink mechanic and managed to apply it to more than just simple puzzles - some of my favorites are growing chicken wings into full chickens for more health and shrinking the hammerhead enemies so they have to kick you instead of hammering you
it’s not the best skylander game but i think its strengths are criminally underlooked
Really well put together video! Your reasons for the placement of each game was well argued and well developed. As someone whose only played swap force and spyros adventure, I was very happy to see swap force at the top. Great video all around 😀
The OG game is my favorite I have lots of nostalgia for this franchise and I just wish there wasn’t a bad stigma around it with the whole Spyro thing
I’m just gonna say this:
In swap force, if you can get a second controller, you don’t need swap characters to open an elemental gate.
I totally see where you're coming from
@@kryptkrusher thank you.
I like and respect the game because it was the start of an era
Why is swap force ALWAYS IN FIRST
Ikr. It's a good game, but the long ass chapters keep it from being amazing.
@@jacobflowers0529 idk why more people dont bring this point up
@@jacobflowers0529 i found the game short as fuck
It was my favourite, personally, so I'm happy to have it there!
@Books and Tv Geek It is the Wii for some of your concerns, actually, if you look at comparisons the game looks significantly better on other consoles! I also encountered zero crashes on my playthrough on Xbox. It may not have been *your* Wii but I think it was *the* Wii.
I personally agree with everything except I’d put trap team at 1 and swap force at 2.
Then we have The exact same opinion! I completely agree!
i would as well
true
My list would probably be
6. SSA (I just find the levels a bit underwhelming)
5. Imaginators
4. Swamp force
3. Giants
2. Superchargers (very under appreciated for sure)
1. Trap team
My list:
6. Superchargers
I love racing games.
5. Imaginators
You can definitely tell the developers started to run outta ideas for this one.
4. Swap Force
Swapping two parts of a Skylander has to be the most creative gimmick I've seen in any video game ever.
3. Spyro's Adventure
The very first game in the series remains a true classic and a joy to play.
2. Trap Team
This game had it all. Good story?
1. Giants
The second game in the franchise took everything good in Spyro's Adventure and expanded on it. (Hint hint Activison!)
When it's all said and done, I enjoy every single Skylanders game to this day outside of Superchargers.
Honestly I HEAVILY disagree with what you said about SuperChargers
I agree with literally everything you said, I absolutely loved everything in giants, most memorable one for me
100% agree with ecerything exept you didnt mention drill-x.
@@midnightdarkfrost agree with you because it honestly it doesn’t have much of a pay wall. Compared to trap team and swap force
I played skylanders before whaching
the series on Netflix and all my friends who whached it consider me as the high authority on the game
I actually liked the show
@@cheesecheese1574 same! I wish they continued it as it was left on a cliffhanger
The thing I love about this franchise is there’s no best game. Everyone has their favourite and it’s great to see
Ngl the reason I watch you're videos it's because you're a legend, and ngl I actually agree with this list.
I would put Swap Force at #1 cuz Tessa is awesome
My list:
6. Superchargers
5. Imaginators
4. Swap Force
Tied for 2. Giants and Trap Team
1. Spyro’s Adventure
Same opinion. Spyro's aventures was amazing
Why does everyone hate Imaginators and Superchargers?
My list changed. Now it’s
6. Swap Force
5. Imaginators
4. Superchargers
2. Giants & Trap Team
1. Spyro’s Adventure
Still, what's wrong with Imaginators and Superchargers? I love all the games and can't really rate them, because I love them all equally.
My favorite would be Trap Team, only because I loved the concept, story, villains, characters, and Kaos was amazing. And collecting all the figures, and specifically the traps. It was fun to play as Pop Fizz too.
My top
1 Trap team
2 Swap force
3 Giants
4 Imaginators
5 Spyro adventure
6 Superchargers
I feel like everyone is putting Spyros Adventure at number 1 because it was the first game. Sure it was a great game but the graphics werent nearly as good as Trap Team.
Btw my list from best to worst game :
Trap Team
Swap Force
Imaginators
Spyro's Adventure
Giants
Superchargers
Yeah here here
Its mainly because of the nostalgia
and the music
Trap Team is my favorite too, my ranking would go;
Trap Team
Giants
Swap Force
Spyro's Adventure
Imaginators
Superchargers
Imo the first 4 were the Golden Age of the series, Superchargers was just okay, and while Imaginators was good, I felt like it lacked the quality and replayability of the first 4.
I always played Swap Force when I was little and it was my favorite. I'm glad I wasn't just biased and that it's someone else's favorite as well
Swap force is my favourite game because of the levels, the enemies and the woodburrow setting is so beautiful in my opinion and it introduces a new character to the series kaos’s mother.Even though the music wasn’t really that good, I had an absolute blast playing swap force 10/10!
Great video. I'm buying a skylanders game soon so this came in handy. Thanks for advices
WHAT chill was my main go to back in the day and fright Rider is dope! Sprocket is also such a cute design as well
Finally someone who understands that trap team and swap force is the best.
Yep they definitely are
They really are The best your right!
Yessss!
@@kryptkrusher sry but I really disagree with your list because imaginators deserves better then what it got along with superchargers
@@waynewagner2843 I agree that superchargers gets too much hate
Personally (without ever playing spyros adventure) here’s my list:
5) Supercharger: very forgettable and the ‘new’ characters sucked
4) Swap force: now don’t get me wrong, I love swap force and it was my introduction to sky landers but I haven’t replayed it much and the gimmick doesn’t really appeal to me
3) Giants: reasons outlined in the video. Short and sweet, nuff said
2) Imaginatiors: now I know this is controversial but I have ALWAYS wanted to design a sky lander, it was as if this game was made for me
1) Trap Team: incredible levels, incredible bosses, best characters, fantastic story, great gimmick
Agree; trap team was awesome!!
The thing I loved about Giants was the Cali challenge levels because with those you could truly show how much effort you put into your skylanders max potential as apposed to other skylanders games where the levels were the main focus, just my option tho:)
I already had a ranking in my head of the Skylanders games and I thought that nobody else would also have that ranking…
Lo and behold this video is my ranking exactly. Good job
I grew up on the OG and giants which are my favorites in that order exactly
Finally someone who really understand the real beauty of Swap Force
I only agree in part because trap team I would put him under spyro adventure and giant second, but it's a minor thing that you can pass over, counting that there are very few people who consider Swap Force the best despite being hands down a real masterpiece
for me swap force was the last good game, trap team superchargers and imaginators just killed it for me
@@clapdozecheeks9157 Trap team is still not so bad, however yes the last two are not at all as beautiful as the first ones

1.trap team
2.swap force
3. Spyro’s adventure
4.giants
5. Super chargers
6. Imaginators
Mine is Eruptor, he was the first one I ever owned and I really liked the concept of a creature that barfs lava.
really good video, it reminded me how much i love skylanders
My favorites list is 7: Superchargers Racing, 6: Superchargers, 5: Imaginators, 4: Spyro’s Adventure, 3: Swap Force, 2: Giants, and 1: Trap Team!
This is my ranking (I havent played giants so i will be excluding that)
5. Imaginators, loved how they brought back villains and also loved the senseis and the imaginators, hated the story and also hated how they made certain skylanders npc's
4. Superchargers, i really enjoyed the plot, but hated how almost half the new skylanders were just old skylanders being brought back
3. Spyro's adventure, great plot, a lot of great skylanders, but it also just felt kinda slow and repeatitive
2. Swap Force, fantastic plot, a lot of great skylanders, but a lot of the npc's with the exclusion of flynn, tessa, and sharpfin were just boring to me
Its too op.

4. Superchargers
5. Swap force
6. Imaginators
Rip swap force lol
Super charges sucks
Edit: but giants is best
i can deifinetley agree with this, only i would put trap team first and swap force second, only because i love the gimmick of capturing the villians and the introduction to light and dark elements, also the fact that you have both brocks rumble club and the kaos's doom challenge definetley gives the game more things to do even after beating the main story, all the secret things you can find in the academy and the skystones, i mean giants skystones was the best out of them all but trap teams skystones is still quite enjoyable and how you get a villains skystone after beating a villian.
spyros adventure ws my frist skylanders game, so it holds a special place in my heart
I would really like to go in depth but no one wants to read all that so I'll keep my liist short and sweet:
6. Imaginators - the Sensei and character creation is fun, everything else mostly meh
5. Spyro's Adventure - despite the fact that I can't play as most of my favorite characters, still a good game
4. Giants - I like it slightly better because it has more characters and slightly more stuff to enjoy
3. Swap Force - Lots of well done characters and the swap.gimic is always fun. I love combining different attacks together
2. Trap Team - Trap Masters, Villains, Story, Combat, all good
1. Superchargers - Story and Characters are the best they've ever been, gameplay for the most part, I like. And levels are also some of the best.
Wow I still managed to make that long somehow.
I saw it all and you make some very good points!
Personally I wouldn't have minded if you went in depth, I like reading paragraph long comments if they bring up good points.
