- Ever since Shiny Pokemon were introduced to the Pokemon series, the idea of hunting them has taken over the entire community, and personally, I've never invested much time into it. I've always wanted to make a video on catching shinies, but I wanted to do it as big as possible. I caught every shiny Pokemon available before each gym badge... This is how it went. I watched this video multiple times now. After I found out about the new shiny odds codes I immediately went back to this video. This makes it even crazier that most of these shinies are full odds shinies without you even knowing it. Which makes it an even more impressive achievement.

no way most of them were full ods.
he seen 350.000 pokemon. 135 of them are shinys.
thats 1 shiny for every 2700 pokemon seen.
when you hunt a shiny you could obviously get it after 1000 tries. or after 4000 tries or after 10.000 tries.
but the more and more pokemon you catch and see the closer you will get to the real odds.
(its like flipping a coin 10 times. you could get 5 heads. or only 3. maybe even 10.
but when you flip a coin a billion times you will end up at about 50% for sure)
static encounters, fossils, trades etc. which definitely have odds of 1 in 4096.
which means all of the rest of the pokemon (100-110 or something in that range) most likely had odds better than 1 in 4096 thus not being "full odds"
catching all 135pokemon at full odds you would expect to see 550.000+ pokemon
*if my math is wrong feel free to correct me

Dread it, run from it, shiny chansey arrives all the same.
i remember shiny hunting in lets go (before we found out we were doing it wrong), I was hunting electabuzz in the power plant, it took about 5 hours, and in that time I saw like 6 different shiny chansey before a single electabuzz, and two of them spawned within 10 mins of eachother.

Yeah that’s crazy I always feel so bad for people that hunted stuff like that And had bad luck with it as well like basically every Pokémon has been re released with way better odds but at the same time hunting them on newer games is nowhere near as fulfilling as the older ones
I refuse to believe that chancy doesn't have increased shiny odds in newer games because I've literally caught one on accident in every game since sun/moon

Among my many frustrations with Scarlet and Violet is that they removed the shiny sparkle in the over world for Pokémon. The ones that are very close to their normal pallets are easy to miss.
I found 3 shinies without hunting in acheus and one was am ampipon that i wasnt even aware was shiny, i just kinda went ''ehh could use the exp" after standing around and looking at it (and the other pokemon) for a minute. THEN BAM sparlkes wtffff
Autobatteling does not kill shinies. That's one way, although not very effcient
@@cleeve2891 true and that is helpful but if you are just cruising in Arceus it will chime to let you know there is one nearby and in Let's Go there is sparkles around it.
Overworld Pokémon are like generating hundreds of encounters at once so it makes sense imo. But i admit, shiny sounds really spice up the game. And the lightning can make things hard to see for me since I'm colourblind
They did it so that people don't get shinies easily which is a good thing in my opinion. If you want everything for free then you can be frustrated

@@jamesmiranda1449 The Vaporeon story is a meme in the Pokémon community, that is basically this line of text that gets copy pasted to make fun of those people who find Pokémon *attractive*. The text is 223 words long (with longer variations having appeared over time), and basically details all the ways in which Vaporeon is the most sexually attractive Pokémon out of all of them. The text can be found easily by googling "Vaporeon Copypasta".
This is ridiculous to begin with, but the fact you were able to continue your other content, while doing this is insanely impressive and I honestly hope you're very proud of this.

I have watched this video many times since its initial upload, and it always entertains and is a guilty pleasure video to put on. I spent the last 2 days starting my own, and I think the rng is in my favor for now but I am still not into pewter. And I'm starting to get a first hand experience as to your level of patience. I’m not going to lie, I grew up playing Pokémon. I experienced my first shiny Pokémon in Pokémon platinum. I went online to fight with it, and realized I wasn’t the only one and discovered shiny hunters. Ever since I’ve had both massive respect for them, and a tear in my eye from the saltiness from losing numerous battles to them
This one is really the magnum opus of video game content and I loved watching this whole video. Earned a subscribe FOR SURE like this is so mushy for a pokemon video but this really inspires me to do content and just play games because I cannot BELIEVE you spent 2 years on this challenge and stuck to it. John has always been so dedicated to all Pokémon challenges, but this Shiny Professor Oak challenge puts John in the top echelon of Pokemasters!
I think the craziest part about this is that about a year ago it was discovered from that the bonuses of a catch combo in terms of shiny rates both' only apply to that species your comboing, and it only applies to the *next* spawn of that species. So if you run away or let the pokemon respawn your essentially on full odds. The best way to shiny hunt on lets go is actually just to keep catching the pokemon and force more of that species to spawn each time you catch one.
(I'm only a little into the video so apologies if he realizes this later on in the video)

It took me nearly 3 years to complete the shiny living dex challenge in Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu. Such a fun game one of the best in the franchise so far. Congrats on this it's a huge achievement.

@@SimplyUnprofessional yeah agreed but in the end I got my shiny spawns pretty fast even with the bad information we got from the data mine community. The longest hunt I had was over a year for a Kabuto that went to over 15,000 fossil trades. Those full odds hunts were so rough
You have now inspired me to stupidly follow in your footsteps. So far I have made it to the first gym which has taken 50 hours now for the hard part.

What is wrong with this technique?
@@LucifersLandLord Basically, when you get to a combo of 31, the next pokemon of that species that spawns has the increased chance to be shiny. After that spawn, all spawns of the same species go back to base odds regardless of the catch combo. So, instead of achieving a combo of 31 then waiting for hours, you should combo past 31, and catch every pokemon of that species until one is shiny.

@@sabagecabage7828 I have had the game for a while, just decided to not play it and some Pokémon vids showed up in my recommended so I played some more of it and found this video
i can't even understand the dedication it took to do this because this is more than just grinding and getting "rewarded" along the way, it is HOURS each and every day of mostly stress to do something that when put in perspective is different color pixels in a video game but is a medal for so so much more.
