Omega has the red star balls. Piccolo died with the black star balls. The red star balls turn black amd blue while inside the shadow dragons because negative energy is apparently blue. That's where the blue shenron comes from. So you're basically collecting the black star balls (stronger than red) while Omega hogs the red star balls.

You are looking for the black star Dragon Balls. Omega Shelton came from the Dragon Balls post separation by Kami and Piccolo. Even though at this point Dense made the Dragon Balls and they shouldn't have that much negative energy. Unless I've misunderstood something.
