    Pine resin is a gold material for electronics industry it is essential for smooth soldering known as organic flux . I hope within 5 years you will have your flux manufacturing factory in Zambia.

      They were applying a foliar fertiliser called Omniboost.
      That was possible back when we only had a few trees back in the early days. But these days, it would be difficult to cover the much wider area we have planted.

    Well done on such a great project. Where can we get pine seedlings in Lusaka?

    • @mondofarms4343
      @mondofarms4343  Před 2 lety +4

      For the first two years, we ordered the pine seedlings from a supplier who grows them on the Copperbelt. But this was quite a hassle and there was a high cost of transport. So this year, we started to grow our own seedlings at Winterthorn.
      Its going very well so far and we will have some ready for pre-sale to other farmers in the next few weeks. Delivery will be by December.

      Mwandi Ba Alex, we never do that on the Mondo Farms Channel.
      Other channels share such data, but we are primarily a business, and we choose to keep the financial details of our business proprietary.

      It depends on the spacing of the trees. Initially, we were planting at 2m, but at our new spacing of 2.7m between stems, we should get about 1,300 stems/Ha

    Hi Mr. Folotoya, any need for irrigation?

    • @mondofarms4343
      @mondofarms4343  Před 2 měsíci

      Timber plantations are not normally irrigated.
      We are growing trees that would normally look after themselves in nature.
      Hiwever, as climate change gives us more erratic rainfall and higher temperatures, we have started watering the seedlings just after they are transplanted to give them better establishment. Things are not as straightforward as they used to be.

      We hope to do that one day, but for now, we do what is proven. Seedlings are available and the expertise is there.
      Also importantly, the market for pine and eucalyptus is wide.
