As someone who is bi and trans with homophobic and transphobic parents this episode hits hard, I only recently accepted the whole trans thing for myself with my boyfriend calling me she/her ( he's amazing ), and the fact that my parents will never accept me is heartbreaking.
Sending so much love, from one trans person to another! I’ve had the opposite experience. Accepting parents but have 2, extremely shitty ‘Bens’ in my life. I’ve never had anyone to love me back. Been alone for years which sucks when I’m such a fucking hopeless romantic. I’m very much Charlie without a Nick.
@@BellyJae I'm so sorry, I only got my BF like a month ago until then I was single for around 10 years ( since I was 16 ), also a hopeless romantic, and we talked about me being trans he said he would love me regardless so he started using she/her pronouns for me and it just clicked for me, all the feeling I've felt all my life made sense, now he's talking about buying me cloths, braiding my hair and more, if I had excepting parents things would be perfect for me right now, sadly I do not and that is gonna be a shit show when everything comes out, sadly hate negates empathy sometimes, I also had a " Ben " in my life, he was using me to cheat on his girlfriend, yea not taking part in that nope, told his GF immediately, hope you find your nick and they are as great as can be.

Tori dropkicking David's phone was in the books too but imo it looked more aggressive in the book like straight up punting it instead of a gentle ass kick like in this episode.
I think they had a hard time figuring out how Tori could kick the phone out of David's hand if he'd held the phone to his ear (instead of using headphones) without smashing her foot into his face as well. Not that people wouldn't have wanted to see that too!

What really pisses me off about Ben's "apology", is he STILL didn't care about Charlie's consent. He kept messaging him, with no response, and then followed him and ambushed him in a public place so that he could force his apology too. Even in his speech, it was all about himself, never about Charlie. "I wanted something good, and you were something good." Like he was a self-love accessory or something, instead of an actual person with feelings. He's absolute garbage.
Spot on. Ben never once accepts responsibility for anything. He goes on about how everything is not his fault. "If I only had more time." "My parents would never accept me." And THEN he says "I'm sorry"??? Sorry, dude, but fuck you with a cactus. It doesn't work like that. That was not an apology, just another attempt at emotional manipulation. Once Charlie would have been taken in by it. But no more, and never again.
Same, yo. What really grinds my gears, though, are the Ben Apologists, the ones who actually try to _defend_ and _excuse_ his bs. It's honestly disturbing how they claim that what he did (and _continues_ to do) wasn't that bad. As if _Charlie_ was somehow the one in the wrong for falling for Nick instead, like he was cheating or whatever when they full on ignore Ben _actually_ cheating because their "poor baby" is scared to come out. Like, legit trying to justify emotional/verbal abuse and sexual assault. WTF. 😱🤬
@@narliehs1648Charlie had broken up with Ben weeks before anything happened with Nick because Ben was a lying, cheating, emotionally abusive creep. Ugh. He's the absolute worst as a human being. I swear people only like the character because the actor is a sweetheart 🙄
@@shannancox6632 Ikr!! They're absolutely mental, I swear. Like, yeah, Bash the actor is great. But Ben the character is an utterly irredeemable douche canoe. He's actually worse in the show than he is in the books since they give him more characterization/"screentime" here than the comic version. The "Draco in Leather Pants" effect is so real, honestly.

Darcy's mum told her to get out - if you watch closely - so she didn't leave willingly even though it was an unsafe space. So yeah, even worse, her mum kicked her out.
I found the apology scene so powerful- not what ben said but how Charlie responded it was so powerful and done so well and as someone who has been in toxic - borderline relationships it meant a lot to see that scene played out the way it did. I fall under the aroace umbrella like Issac so his storyline this season I deeply appreciated. if you are interested in learning more about aromanticism or what it means to be both I suggest checking out Jaiden animations coming out video she breaks it down in a very concise way that is precise and humorous
As an aroace person having aroace characters in shows are amazing. People always say “oh you just haven’t met the right person yet” and that made me feel inhumane and alienated and as all your friends fall in love and your the only one who doesn’t you feel like there is somthing wrong with you or your not human. So, thank you SO much, for making me feel human and valid for the first time in my life x

This is a great, if difficult, episode. And it gives me so many feels. First off, I want to comment about Ben. That boy does not deserve any kind of forgiveness for what he did to Charlie. Not least of all because when he apologized, he didn't actually understand what it was that he had done wrong. Plus, not even counting the way he treated Charlie when they were still together, he has been harassing him online despite Charlie clearly ignoring him and not wanting to respond. He stalked Charlie to ambush him at this event that he himself wasn't even attending and which is NOT local to them. They had to travel to get there. He smiled when Charlie asked him if he remembered the first time he had kissed Charlie, remembering it fondly when it was clearly a traumatic memory for Charlie. His apology is hollow because he didn't actually understand what he had done wrong. Maybe now that Charlie has told him what he did and how it affected him, Ben actually can change, but none of us need to be there to see that, least of all Charlie. Second, Nick's dad reminds me so much of my own dad. I got my sister to watch this with me and she said the exact same thing, completely unprompted. That question from Nick of "why doesn't he care?" hit hard. So relatable. Finally, the winner of this episode is Tori Spring. She was great digging her nails into David's arm at the kitchen table, but she was spectacular when she kicked his phone and threatened to end him. I believe her! You do not want to get on the wrong side of Tori Spring. She will protect her brother at all costs. I f***ing love this show so much!!!
If you get Tori Spring mad at you, move away. Preferably to another country. It's for your own good.

This episode was very emotional for me and a lot of others as well. Heartstopper really knows how to tug on our heartstrings. I also did want to say thank you for that message that other Ace people are valid and for sharing your experience and just being so geniune. It meant a lot💜. Also I really hope you took care of yourself after such an intense experience! And please do so for the next episode too💜💜💜.

This episode was beautiful but so heartbreaking especially when it came to the “apology” Ben did. It’s more heartbreaking cause Nick just wants his dad to be apart of his life more instead of just being there for him when it comes to talking about sports. He doesn’t even ask him about school or how his tests are going!!
I cried more when Darcy was kicked out because of a suit, fabric! I remember for prom in 2021 I was looking for a dress/suit (since I’m non binary) but my mom and I couldn’t find one so I went with this pretty purple dress. Throughout this show I wish Darcy’s mom was supportive but overall we all know parents are supportive of being gay or bi. It makes it’s harder for kids or even adults who are in college to be themselves and it sucks.

If you remember, in the books Charlie gave that speech to Harry outside the door at the party. Well, altered a bit for the specific situation but you know what I mean. I honestly prefer this version, Harry's just a dick, he doesn't deserve the time of day. Ben's the one who needed to hear it, everything he did was far worse
Agree I prefer the show version of the apology speech I think it’s more suited for Ben then Harry been is Far worse then Harry since he literally SA Charlie. I have hope Harry can change ( we saw a bit of it in S2) but as for Ben I don’t see him changing without the speech and maybe he won’t but Ben needed to hear that more
honestly i'm still in high school, and i don't even plan to go to prom because i KNOW my mother will pick me apart for wearing a suit, which i would. for reference, i don't label my gender, but i am a pretty masc lesbian, and i just know she'd ruin it for me. but if i did plan to go, i would honestly just tell my mother to crumple to the floor and cry about whatever i wanted to wear, because honestly i think parents forget that KIDS ARE PEOPLE and you can't dictate what they do forever, so what's even the point, y'know? if anyone else is in a situation like mine, i just want you to know that you're not alone, and we're all going to make it out someday. just hang on for me, please. i love you all

I get why Sarah shot down Stephane when he reprimanded David and why so many people like it, but honestly, I wish she hadn't. David idolizes his dad so much that I feel like even though his dad is never around, knowing his dad was disappointed in him may have possibly taught him something, or at least made him feel bad. Instead we have Sarah, who I love, but she pretty much never puts David in his place despite him continuously being awful.
At the part where Ben wa s messaging him I said "just block him charlie! Block him!!!" But for some reason my voice gott super high-pitched and I sounded like Tao when he and Elle were drawing outside at the sleepover.

I’m gonna tell you a really sad story that you might don’t wanna hear I lost my dad when I was nine years old. He had a heart attack and he passed away and I saw him die in my own house and I’m very sad about it because I miss my dad every day, my dad was the best friend in my family ever had and I miss him every single day so that’s my sad story😢😢😢
