BLOG: VIDEO STORY:
This is based on a true story. I was on a 1 month hitchhiking trip with my friend to make a travel documentary. We both were out of money.
I was street performing to get money for food, new shoes and documentary project. My old shoes were fucked so I had to make extra money for new shoes with my bare foot.
It was not allowed to street perform on St. Mark's Square.
This video is my second performance and it was canceled by Italian Police(Polizia).
I changed the spot and managed to earn about 30€ per hour to collect enough money for food, new shoes and our documentary project.
Video is made in St.Mark's Square, Venice ,Italy and this place is stunning. It was very good to be there. I got a lot of inspiration and I loved an architecture. It is pleasure to see creative buildings like those in Venice.

As an Italian, I am ashamed for the local police, in other countries these restrictions do not exist, I went to Bologna for work, there is a square where there are artists who perform, what's wrong if people make a small donation ?

Other countries certainly have restriction on where and when street artists can perform. Some cities even made begging illegal.

길병찬[소프트웨어학부] the problem is about all the italian scammer that used to scam tourist all along the square, so they forbidden all kind of unauthorized activities on the square. Normally (appling to the law) the two policmen should write a ticket to the dancer and bring him to the police station.....so they were enough cool to just let him go. You should try to understand that police officers are not x-factor or Venice got talent judges and they can't choose on theyr own what is a great show and what is not: if they let a talented dancer dance, other scammers will take the opportunity and starting back scamming people. Feeling really bad for that nice talented guy, but he was the one choosing the wrong place ;)

For people that dont understand: venice is already overcrowded by tourists and this is the most important square of venice,if performing shows was allowed every performer would come there to have mouch more visibility,and san marco would become a mess instead of an historic art center. Since the beginning of the video you can actually see two differents stories, the main one with the awesome moves of this performance and the background one with the two policemen starting from the bell tower and then slowly moving towards the square. The final culminates with the merging of the storylines in one "tragic ending" for the artist (and for all the people who enjoyed watching this performance) and a "triumph" for the two officers of the law. It was a shame but actually we can also see it as a beatiful love story :D ....... I'm really sorry for you man!
