Thank you for showing how to actually make the sweater rather than just the stitches. Never made a sweater before but I’m excited to try one since most clothes don’t fit my broad shoulders small waist frame
Any tips for broad shoulders and small waist? I'm new to alterations :)
I'm also struggling i did mine as the video but it's to big for me trying to figure out how to get it to be smaller 😅
I just finished this sweater for my daughter. The sweater turned out beautiful. The pattern was so easy to follow and of course the video cleared up any questions I had. I LOVE this sweater and I now know what I’ll be giving to the women in my family this year for Christmas. I complimented the sweater with Mj’s Buffalo family hat and the set together is so dang cute with a pair of jeans! Thanks Mj!
I’m so happy it turned out great! This is definitely one of my favourite sweater patterns 😊
Echoing everyone else, this is a beautiful sweater! Definitely adding it to my “to do” list!
Thank you for sharing! 💜🧶
👏👏👏👏👏Oh my goodness I’m in love with this sweater! I will have to make this gorgeous sweater!!! I just love your channel! I just love your style! Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful sweater! You are pure awesomeness!
Same here I just love this and have to make one!
Hi. I love all your patterns. For Halloween my house gets flooded with your pumpkin patterns. For Christmas my house is flooded with your trees ( my favorite patterns ever! So pretty! )All year my house is flooded with your baskets! I am just finishing up your pull over lace pattern with the diamonds. I used a different yarn but it looks amazing! Thank you so much for all your tutorials. I appreciate them sooo much!
thank you so much for this tutorial i made my first piece of clothing using crochet and i am so so happy!!!!!!
Wonderful!
Love this sweater! A button front
cardigan in this pattern would be great too 😊
Purchased this lovely pattern and so excited to make it. Unfortunately it turned out much too big. I used 3.5 & 4mm hooks to get the tension correct and chose size XS even though I am 38” bust. Ended up having to frog it. I’ll give it another try leaving out the increases in last few rows.
Make sure to meet pattern gauge for correct sizing.
I'm having the same issue. I thought I had done everything correctly, same yarn, same hooks, same gauge, but it has turned out gigantic. I'm not giving up, though. I'm going to start again. I love the look of this sweater.
I am having the opposite problem, I have 7 inches for the yoke when its supposed to be 9 inches. Do you have any suggestions on how to adjust?
@@valeriekramer9313
Love this sweater, I love the circle yoke to me they turn out so much better. Thanks for sharing!!! Have a great day!!!
Thank you MJ for this tutorial. I am almost finish this sweater. I love your lessons and all of your patterns make beautiful wearable pieces.
I'm currently waiting for the yarn to deliver (got the same brand as used here). While I live right next to the Rockys and they do make a lovely view, I'm from the east and my heart belongs to the Smokeys, so I'm using the colors that remind me of them (Finnley Heather, Douglas Fir, and Bark)
I'm glad i watched the video. The sleeves through me off a bit. In the written pattern it says, work row 16-27 in color C and i was not getting anywhere near 16.5 inches. Otherwise its a great pattern.
Beautiful! ❤
Thank you for sharing your talents with us…🤗
Thank you! 😊
This is gorgeous and definitely going on my list
Can't wait to make one for my father bcz that's the only thing i can gift him doing crochet 😂❤
Enjoy!
The color combination is great💕
Hi ☺️👋 thank you for teaching us this amazing sweater 😀
What do I do wrong when it gos all bubblie? Nog as flat as yours in the first sektion 🤔
I love this sweater. Cant wait to make it.
I’m ready to block my yolk. Excited! I want to soak in wool wash to soften & I don’t have a steamer. BUT I’m so glad I just thought of this, whenever I’ve hand washed my projects to block or what not, I see some of the dye come out into the water. So how are we supposed to wash a color block sweater w/o it changing the lighter colors! I’m using a lingonberry red and a brown in addition to the top lighter color. Thx for your help.
Trop trop beau 😍j'adore. Je le mets dans mes projets à faire absolument 😁
Saving this pattern. Wow wow wow!
I have a question: Right at the beginning when you do the neck part- the one where you do 80 of it, does the start with the single crochets count as 1 of the 80 or is the first row you do through the back loop only your first of 80 rows? Thanks so much in advance, can’t wait to start my project!!
Hola!! Buenas noches...voy siguiendo el video pero no entiendo mucho el inglés. Puse para leer sino en otros idiomas pero no aparece en español, para poder hacerlo con más seguridad. Muy bueno todo igualmente. Gracias!!!
Beautiful sweater can’t wait to make it
Hi MJ! You made a size small in the tutorial but are you yourself modeling a small or medium? The one on your girls looks smaller. It always helps me to know which size you are modeling as you’ve shared your bust size before so it helps me gauge how I want mine to look. I’m always between a small and medium and I like how yours fits on you. So if you are wearing a small yourself, I’m going to make a small too. I only have two more rounds of the yolk left if I’m making a small and four more if I’m making a medium. Yay. Ty so much. I always buy and love all your patterns and instructions. ❤
I am modelling the size small. I only made one of these tops which is the one I'm making in the video. Thanks!
Gorgeous sweater! Thank you for the pattern 👏👍🙂
So classic. So beautiful!
You always have such beautiful designs. Thank you
Thank you!
Love this thank u so much! Started one immediately ❤️❤️❤️
So pretty
I have just started and must say I love this so far. My only question is how to connect the sides under the arm? Can you please show or explain please and thank you.
how many inches is the collar in the beginning of the video? I am specifically referring to the 80 rows of half double crochet
Yes! I have the same question. When slipped stitched together mine is 12 inches ong that can not be right it looks huge. My tst gauge was correct so why is it so big. Did yours turn out well?
Hi! Ive recently started crocheting this patern. Im a little confused with the first row of the body. This where you started with the dark brown colour. Do we still increase or keep going without the increase stich. Im imagining a flared out sweater if i keep increasing. 😅 I hope you can help me out with that ❤
I adore your tutorials 🥰
This is beautiful! Thank you!🎉❤😊
Hola, te sigo desde la Ciudad de México pero veo que este video no trae subtítulos en español 😞
Y otros videos que he visto al final los subtítulos son en inglés
Ojalá y pudieras apoyarnos a que estén completamente en español….mil gracias!! 😊
Thank You 💚
Hermoso pullover!!!💕👏👏👏
😍😍😍 Love it!
while i'm listening to this first time before following along, i'm thinking and calculating how many extra rows i need for a bigger size
I am struggling with the pattern, when I do my first increase I am only getting 130 stitches even though the round before in 120. I have recounted it multiple times, undone it, and tried to trouble shoot. Do you have any advice for why this might be happening or any tips?
Lovely thank you.
Hello I was just wondering what size you making in this video
Good morning 🌞
May I ask what it the length of your collar please because I made 80 rows and it look so long please?
I was wondering this too
😱😳😳😳 hermosooooooo!! muy bello!!
I'm wondering if anyone else is having issues with getting the defined ridges in the collar? I am doing the half double crochet with a #4.0 hook, but my 80 row collar doesn't have the deep ridges. 🤷🏼♀️
Hi, does the ch 2 count as a DC
Thank you. Also when you sk the first when beginning band and cuffs, is that the only time or do you sk that first stitch at every round ?
Hi, thank you for this video. Can I use a half double crochet instead of double crochet with the same pattern for increase to reach the desired size? Maybe it will need more raws, but using the same pattern for the increase?
Thank you for this video. I haven’t seen this type of yoke before( multiple panels). Can you please explain how you divided your stitches in the beginning? Thank you
Also do you have a sizing chart for different sizes and the stitches and all
hi MJ I'm lost at the second calour did you continue to increase or not can't tell
Muy bonito para tejerlo pero...les faltó subtitulos en español 😭 por favor. Gracias
Beautiful
Hermoso puedes poner en español 🙏😍
(When the 9 days r over and I can crochet again....)
Is there a way to make this in a mens I made a sweater for my dads birthday coming up iyh and I have to take it apart cuz I'm really bad at the sleeves when I sew it together its far from tight (by the arm hole) and can't seem to get it right the sleeves on this looks so easy! Is there a way to do a men's size?
This could easily be a unisex pattern. I would taper the sleeves for a man and make the body longer.
@@mjsoffthehook OMG YAY THANKS!

When you do the increase in the round, does the chain 2 count as the first stitch?
I was wondering the same thing! Currently working on the first few rows and mine didn’t add up like hers..new to sweaters but was hoping to find help in comments😅
Just found it in the pattern (I didn't notice it before) the chain 2 doesn't count as a stitch.
I bought the pattern and can’t download it. Can you help?
Do you think I could work this and get a similar result with a 3mm hook?
Hi just love this jumper I have never made anything like this before. Can you please advise other options for wool I am a pensioner and can't afford expensive wool.
Kind regards Carol
Use any fingering weight yarn. Just make sure your gauge is correct.
Awesome tutorial and I do love this sweater. I am a beginner and I still struggle with the beginning chain (not included as a stich) and where to start my first double crochet. I have seen so many videos but I must have a mental block :-) I have been counting my stitches so I am good but my join is crooked so I know I haven't been joining where I should 😞 Can someone suggest how to get this straight once and for all. And also, in watching the video when you reference the placement of the increases, can I please confirm that it is in fact in the middle of the previous increase stitches from the previous row? My increases are all at the stich right after so wanted to clarify. Thank you for helping this gal out. 🙂
In this video, she skips the first three of the chain.
I'm guessing but most likely your chain is too tight. Keeping consistent tension takes time and a lot of practice in the beginning but you will get it eventually.
Before joining the row with a reverse slip stitch, do you do the increase stitch, a dc and then join? Or is it the increase stitch and join?
I have a question: I am getting the right amount of stitches per inch but I am counting 12 row/4 inch and the yoke portion appears shorter than your yoke. Should I just work a few more rows? It is sitting higher on my chest.
Me encantaria que puedas traducir Los videos a castellano.
If I Don't find a yarn like yours
And I have to use a yarn 100gm 250 metre per ball
What hook size should I use and how many chains should I begin with?
En ESPAÑOL BSOS DESDE ARGENTINA 🇦🇷 ❤️
I started this pattern today and the collar is wayyyy big and I stopped at 65 to restart. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Do you know how long the collar needs to be? Can I just stop earlier and continue with the rest of the pattern as described?
Hi, I am feeling thesame way, looks way too big. No one has an answer
I’m going to do the collar and it seems it’s too big.. also she has added the sleeves before making the collar why?
You need to check the pattern gauge when crocheting garments. The length is very easy to figure out. The ribbing is 3 rows = to 1", 80 rows divided by 3 equals 26.67". If you want to make it smaller than that reduce your hook size. It's not meant to be a tight collar as shown in the pictures of it modelled.
Which size r you making n how much much yarn did u use for this cardigan
I love this!!! Can I ask what size you are doing in this video? ❤️😍
Small
Hey! I love this but I’m looking to making a large. The video says free pattern but all I see is the option to buy in order to see how to make a large.
The free pattern is only to view on the blog for my blog subscribers. Linked in the description
Is this a unisex pattern? If not, what are some suggestion for alterations to make it a pattern suitable for a man’s frame?
Great sweater. Can you please ell me what size this one is in your tutorial?
May I know how many ply wool have you used?
4 ply
I am currently working on the M size but the top yoke ended up with 7 inches instead of the 9 inches the designer has for the yoke. I checked my gauge and it is off but, if i were to follow the gauge, that means that it would actually be even smaller than what it is now. Any suggestions on how to adjust the gauge to end up with 9inches on top? Thank you
Hi there, this is MJs admin assistant, pattern support questions are answered in the Facebook community group here facebook.com/groups/363218121026907/
Or a suggestion I have would be to check out the crochet golden loop tutorials. People use it when their stitches are too short and they need to lengthen them.
Will this pattern be able to be worked in more sizes?
The pattern is free on my blog in XS-5X
What do u mean by increase and decrease i didnt get it
Increasing means adding 2 stitches in your next stitch and decreasing is making a stitch using the next 2 stitches to make one stitch. There are tutorials to help out you should check them out.
For which size hook is the yarn you used? Coz I see the stitches are a bit loose. 🧶😊
Can I please ask the name of the crochet hook you use for this jumper and where purchased.
Can this sweater be made with onother type of yarn? Like size 3 or 4 ?.thank you
Love this pattern. Im on the body part but ive done 15 rows but doesn’t look as long as the one you have have made im wondering where i went wrong. My stitches are loose but looks shorter.
I would need to see a photo to tell where you have went wrong, I suggest posting your question with a photo in my Facebook community group to get help, facebook.com/groups/363218121026907/
@@mjsoffthehook thank you for your reply, but i dont have a facebook. I might just have to frog it to the beginning of the body again.

Just got to the part where I block off the sleeves and front and back, now realizing I have the wrong amount of stitches….. I really don’t want to start over. It’s my first big project so I’m fine if it’s not perfect. How should I adjust the markers to make it look right when finished? I ended with 336 stitches (was going for a medium).

I am extreme beginner so I can't understand that much... pls reply me
What was the amount of yarn you used ? Like in gms ?(dont want to run out of yarn in between and rush to the store and then ending up not findinh the colour 🥲

Do you think that works for a man!
Yes, you may have to make some sizing adjustments.

Hey how do I know how many stitches do I need for my size ?
Followed the pattern so far. Up to row 4 on yoke. Yoke looks great but collar looks too wide. Used the 4mm hook. Now I'm wondering if I need to restart and try smaller hook. Or is it suppose to be a large?
Do you have the correct gauge?
I'm having the same issue but I would rather know the length in inches or centimeters of your finished collar
I had the same problem but I ended up frogging and started over but instead did one row hdc, then a row of sc till I finished my 80 rows (64 centimeters long or around 25"). The first one I did ended up being (90 centimeters long/35½"). Which turned out too big.
When making sweaters it's important to understand gauge. The ribbing gauge is 3 rows = to 1". You take 80 rows and divide by 3, therefore the collar should be 26.67". If you have met the pattern gauge then everything should be good. Adjust your hook size until you meet the gauge and make sure you are using fingering weight #1 yarn.
@@mjsoffthehookthank you this helped a lot my gauge was completely off and I was noticing my collar was far too big

How many yarn balls do I need for a S sweater? Thank you.
7 balls total. 2, 2 and 3.
Hi MJ, could i use a double knit yarn, and use the 4mm and 4.5mm hook for a med size?
I tried that and it was wayyyyy to big😂😂
😂 yes agree tried it to big. Thanks
@@BlackWolf-vf9yf
Did trying to adjust the size in this way go well??
What is the size of this pattern? I want to know it's dimensions
Will it fit me? I'm 1.75 m high
Why not just make the collar the right size so you don't have to steam it to shrink it? Honest question, I'm obviously clueless😅 Asking before I undo all this hard work and rework it a smaller size.
I do not steam it to shrink it? I steam it because it prevents curling and smoothes it out.
