    Brusho
    Black, Turquoise, Moss Green, Lemon, Olive Green, Cobalt Blue, Light Brown & Yellow Ochre.
    Yupo (Artcoe) 85g paper A4.
    BRUSHES:
    Round Size 2 (Synthetic)
    Large flat brush.
    Kitchen Towel.
    Plastic card.
    Household watered down bleach.
    Waterpot.
    Spritzer bottle.
    Pipette.

    Oh I looove this. I painted with alcohol ink awhile back. Too many fumes from the alcohol and I had to stop. I used Brusho today on my photo paper. Wow, I had so much fun I could barely stop. I just used water and got some amazing effects. You bring such good ideas and joy to back.

      Thank you! So pleased you found this inspiring! I loved alcohol inks, but they gave me a headache. Which is such a shame... But I was impressed with the Brusho and just dropping in water creates amazing effects!

    Absolutely stunning! I haven't used Brusho for a long time and never tried it on Yupo.

    Would never have thought of using Yupo with Brushos. Not sure I’d have the patience to let it dry though. Absolutely beautiful piece as always 😊

    Never saw this technique with brusho and this paper before.

    Such exquisite painting. Can this be preserved? Can we get similar results on watercolour paper?

      You could frame this behind glass. You can’t get quite enough he same effect in watercolour. It’s because the watercolour paper is more absorbent.

    Hi Karen I have only subscribed to your channel for only about a week and a half and my head is about to explode with all the great tips about painting! I see trying this painting with watercolor and salt!!! Thank you so much for your kindness and help! You are the best teacher for beginners I have seen! Will you ever be doing any live streaming, or a payed zoom class????

      Thank you Anne. To seal your Yupo watercolour painting use a high quality acrylic non-yellowing varnish on YUPO, such as Lascaux Fixativ or Krylon Crystal Clear.

      It is Yupo paper: recyclable, waterproof, tree-free Synthetic Paper.

    Hi Karen l've just brought some Brusho l just wanted to know what you used to pierce the holes into the lid and how many holes did you do f l don't put the holes into the lid l can see big accidents happening lol l absolutely love your art and channel and G'Day from Australia 💞💞💞

      G'day Kerry (in Australia!), I hope you enjoy playing with the Brusho! So pleased you like my art! Yay! I usually use push pins to punch holes into the top... start with one and just test to see how much comes out. Because of the design of the push pin, they are great as a top to stop the Brusho from escaping afterwards. Hope this was helpful, have fun 😊

    Karen, do you seal your watercolors done on Yupo or just frame them with no sealer?

      Great question Fergie. You can wipe watercolour off as well with a sponge. The best way to protect the painting is to make sure it does not get wet and to frame it behind perspex or glass and not to hang your painting in direct sunlight... hope this was helpful :)

    Stunning! Can’t wait to try this! One question, if I may? Did you take off the greenish brusho at the top right and replace it with brown Brusho (on re wetted Wupo)? That upper right background is so beautiful!

    Ooh that’s very interesting. Never used yupo paper before but always wanted a go. One question, will the paint stay out when it’s dry do you need to seal it with anything? Thanks xx

      Thank you so much Mimi... The best way to protect the painting is to make sure it does not get wet and to frame it behind perspex or glass with frame. Don't hang your painting in direct sunlight your painting may fade over time... hope this was helpful :)

    How long does it take for the brusho and gauche to dry

    Hello! I do have a question. Do you seal the painting after it’s dry? Yupo is synthetic I’m curious if the paint could be scratched off since it sits on top and isn’t absorbed. Thanks!

      I don’t have brusho so intend to try and paint this using a combination of watercolour paint and pencils which I’ll scrape over wet paper using an emery board nail file , which Karen suggested in a previous tutorial. No idea how it’ll turn out but it’ll be fun to try out 😊

    can the bleach mix be used on regular cotton or wood pulp watercolor paper?

      Hi Kathy, yes you can, but it does seem to make the colours dull when the painting is dry. So I prefer using it on the Yupo paper :)

    Can you do this with watercolour rather than brusho? How does bleach work with watercolour (or is alcohol better?) I have some yupo paper and would like to try this with my watercolours, as I dont have any brusho...Thanks
