The least I can do is try to return it unharmed… Anywho, I am sure the fish will be ok as the hook is quite small and the line was cut at the microsnap. Hopefully someone else will get to catch it and remove the hook =). Cheers my friend!

    I recently saw a video about bass head shacking as you're grabbing the line. When you grab the line it takes the rod's tension and reel's drag out of the equation. The head shake can shock the leader line exceeding it's break strength, sometimes breaking at the knot. I'm guilty of the same thing. Where I've lost fish grabbing the line because they head shake spitting out the hook. I think the best thing to do when you see them going for a head shake is release most of the tension on the line. Then release the line completely. Wear them out some more with your rod, then try grabbing the lip while most of their body is still underwater.

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hey Pac-Man! Yea I think it was definitely my mistake for keeping tension on the line there. I think my reasoning is that I’m unsure how secure the hook is in the mouth and I don’t want the fish to shake the hook. That said, I think cutting the line like that fish did under tension is probably more of a risk than is the fish shaking the hook. Appreciate the explanation! Thanks as always for stopping by and cheers my friend!

      @@BFSFISHINGCHANNELI found your channel. Good content. In the situation you are describing here, try sweep setting when the fish is not jumping. I do this 2 or even 3 times when I’m unsure the hooks are embedded where they need to be and the fish is fighting hard. I’ve yet to pull the bait away doing this and also haven’t lost one since doing this practice. Got this tip from a local tournament angler.

      @@RCLefty027 hey rc! Thanks for suggesting the tip! Yea I think in most cases when I get into a larger fish I am not super worried that the fish will spit the hook but in this case the fish’s mouth actually braided and cut my line lol. I don’t think I’ve ever had that happen to me but it’s a good lesson when trying to pick up the fish. I should probably let it calm down a bit more and not keep too much tension on the line. Or… just carry a net haha 😅. Thanks again for the tip and cheers my friend!

      Hey Ricardo! Haha I understand why noodle rods are appreciated I just have never really enjoyed them as they require such a defined casting stroke. The mifine will get reviewed at some point and I’ll probably focus on showing that it is a usable rod but at the same time how ridiculous the spinning guides are on it. I need to get a chance to get into some fish with it to see if it can handle some larger fish 😅. We shall see… in the meantime, this has become one of my favorite rods but I do wish there was an UL version with a few more guides and a bit lighter weight. Hey Joe! Yea you’re absolutely right. The clicker is extremely similar sounding to the arise air/gravity bfs perhaps a bit lower hertz though. It’s an interesting sound and it’s due to the design of the clicker where it uses a leaf style spring as opposed to a metal pin with spring style that Shimano and Daiwa use. This manufacturer makes high quality products, even if they are made in China.
    I recently bought a rod called DERES MEBARU762, probably the JOHNCOO rod you were talking about.
    But I was a little shocked to see TSURINOYA ELF back in stock yesterday, ELF seems to be more expensive than before, or maybe it's because of the weak yen now.
    The JOHNCOO rod was hard to cast because the EVA of the grip was too short.
    I plan to customize the grips later.

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  Před 3 měsíci

      Hey mile! You hit the nail on the head! I recently acquired the Johncoo Deres as well! At half the price of the zero I thought it would be worth looking at. You are correct that the elf is back in stock and it does seem to be slightly higher in price but as Tsurinoya is a CDM brand I’m not sure the yen has much to do with it? I’m not sure… The johncoo has pros and cons that I’ll go over in my video review on that but I also have the ag venom 703 and the tsurinoya dexterity 1 as well. I am really finding that there 7’+ rods are super versatile and typically cover a pretty wide lure weight range and fun to fight fish on. Anywho, thanks so much for sharing your findings and cheers my friend!

      @@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL I have a TSURINOYA DEXTERITY II C722UL rod, which was very easy to handle, and the JOHNCOO rod has a lot of power, so I was able to catch a 65 cm seabass. But it was a little difficult to throw something light with extra fast. This is unthinkable in Japan, but it is probably because JOHNCOO rods have the same blank and taper as spinning models.

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  Před 3 měsíci

      @mile1609m hey mile! Interesting! I noticed a similar experience with the johncoo vs the zero. I feel like I am able to cast lighter lures a bit easier with the zero vs the johncoo. It’s very odd as the johncoo has a thinner tip as well as thinner solid blank portion. I was able to cast the same lures but I had to drastically slow down my casts similar to when using a very slow XUL rod. Maybe it’s due to the fact that the tip does not recover very quickly but is also quite slow compared to the zero’s tip section which is comparatively much thicker and faster. One other observation is that I believe the johncoo is actually slightly lighter in power vs the zero. The zero seems to have a much more substantial butt section and I felt could handle larger fish. That said, I have not gotten into anything large on the johncoo. I only managed to get into one semi decent bass and a few dinks the day I took it out. Anywho, thanks so much for sharing your experiences! Cheers my friend!

It’s a very similar sound to what you get out of the Haibo arise air and the Ark gravity bfs but it also might sound a tad louder than it actually is because my camera mic is right next to the reel. I used to think that 7’+ rods didn’t have a place in my lineup because they are just so long but if you think about what they’re meant for they definitely have a place imho. Nowadays, I fish either sub 6’ rods for more control and lighter weights or I go 7’+ so I can get some extra reach for my lures. Anywho, regarding your question about the gomexus knobs. Good eye!!! They are indeed gomexus knobs. I didn’t “choose” these per se as they were the style that fit the handle knob shaft on the original SF handle. I wanted to use the SF handle as it’s so well made. The original handle has a super tight CF weave, doesn’t twist and has chamfered edges and is just extremely well made. • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hey Dominic! I think both rods are different and kind of have their best use cases. The zero is definitely a higher power rod with a L designation compared to the UL of the elf. So if you want to get into larger fish then I’d say the zero might be the rod to go with whereas the elf is still a great rod but you’ll have to let bigger fish take more drag for a longer period of time and you might not be able to direct fish during a fight as well. Tbh I really have enjoyed both rods 😅. With the zero I never cast higher weights than 1g and with that and the 0.56g lure I was using I was getting 30-35ft casts. I’m sure with heavier weights you’ll be able to get very respectable distances that compare to the elf 752. The elf surprised me with a nearly 150 ft cast using a 5g minijig and the loongze dc reel. I nearly ran out of line lol. Hope that info helps and cheers my friend!

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  Před 14 dny

      @mangajack hey manga! Hm I don’t really know much about spiral wrap but I am not really convinced that it is superior, for bfs applications at least. My brain makes me think that as you force the line to wrap around the blank with the guides that you 100% guarantee a point of contact and are introducing some tension which will cause friction. Whereas, if you have a straight line of guides there is no line tension from the line being forced to wrap around the blank. Additionally, introducing two extra guides, imho, wouldn’t add that much line resistance. Case in point, I have an abu Garcia Eradicator Baitfinesse with something like 13 guides and I am able to cast farther with it vs the zero rods. I’m sure that resistance is a factor that impedes casting performance but again everything is a balance and how much it actually affects casting performance is something that can’t really be known unless you sit down and do an actual test, imho. Also, I haven’t really gotten that many tip wraps at all with the traditional guide layout. Anywho, that all being said I think it would be interesting to try out a spiral wrapped rod as they’re really not common at all. I only know of one, maybe two(?), that are being made for bfs applications. Very interesting topic and I appreciate you bringing this up! Cheers my friend!

      Hey joel! I have links to where the rod can be found in the video description! I believe the going price is about $129. I would consider waiting for a sale as the price can go down a bit when a decent aliexpress sale is on. Hope that helps and cheers my friend!

      @apaaja5248 hey apa! Where do we begin… the Seasir m1 has terrible tolerances, has a plastic “skin” over a thin metal frame that feels quite cheap, has a drag clicker that sounds terrible, a drag that is not smooth, a handle that twists extremely easily, and cheap feeling handle knobs. Imho, you can do much better for the same money. Hope that helps! Cheers my friend!

    Im doing alot of dropshot fishing, do you consider this a great dropshot rod?

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hey ahmedo! Hm… probably not as you’d likely want a tubular tipped rod for dropshotting. It would also depend on the weight you plan on casting as well. What’s your lure weight range? Cheers my friend!

      Hey ahmedo! You probably want a tubular tipped rod in that case. I suggest look at the Tsurinoya elf ajing c752UL or Tsurinoya has some slightly heavier and or shorter rods that are similar in specification. Let me know if you want more help choosing a rod! Cheers my friend!

      Yes please im having a really hard time finding the right rod for me😅. Im looking for a dropshot rod that is sensitive so i can feel the smallest bite. I use 5-14 grams weights on lure.@@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL

    how whippy is this rod when it casts above 5 grams

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hey real! Thanks for the question! Since I didn’t quite cover the lure weight range casting in this video I just ran out to the backyard to see how loaded the rod gets with a 13g and 16g practice weight. At 13g which is just over the limit the rod feels very composed and not whippy at all. The tip is loaded, as it’s a solid tip, but does not get overloaded and there is a good amount of flex in the mid section to help load the rod for casting. At 16g, I experienced a bit more of the same but the tip does seem to be getting overloaded a bit. You can definitely still cast 16g though as I am fairly sure the tip can handle the flex due to the solid construction. The last practice weight I threw on was a 7g and it was handled with ease. The rod is not whippy at all and very well controlled. Let me know if that helps or if you have other questions! Thanks so much for watching and your comment and cheers my friend!
