Album: Close Enough For Rock 'n' Roll (1976) [remastered] Part 1: On Your Way Part 2: So You Want To Be A Rock 'n' Roll Star Part 3: Soundcheck Part 4: Here We Are Again
Hi Brian, I'd say we're in the same ballpark in more ways than one. It started for me '76--'77 when I pulled their greatest hits LP out of my brother's collection from a plastic mill crate. .......and the other thing 🇨🇦.
То, что создали "NAZARETH" - это самой ВЫСОКОЙ пробы!!! Здесь особенно клёво проявился их талант, как композиторов и мастерство музыкантов!!!!!! Вообще самый рассвет!!!!!!!!
Absolutely one of the best songs by this KICK-ASS rock n' roll band!! A great heartfelt tale of touring and life on the road. I've seen Nazareth at least a dozen times, they were great just about every time ( after Manny left it was different, but they still kicked-ass live) but I gotta tell ya one of the best shows was in 78' (when promoters would put together MONSTER line-ups and it would be an all day show) on the bill was Alice Cooper, the Kinks, the Tubes, Nazareth, and (for some reason) Sha Na Na!!! Needless to say "What a f'n show that was! I was there and it'll never happen again!"
I remember calling in a request to a local radio station to this song ! In the 90s and the DJ told me I was full of shit! No such album lmfao !! Awesome
I've never seen anyone's jaw drop so fast when I was asked by a fool:"Nazareth? What the hell did they do other than Hair of the Dog?" when I laid this track on them.
This song especially, I'm talking of Manny, Pete, Darryl and Dan, seen them do it live 3X, and you couldn't wrap a band any tighter. I'm really trying to find some kind of adoration for the "new" Nazareth and I can't do it. Simply, there are songs that ONLY Dan could sing, "Telegram" being numero uno. Even with R&R ☎️ & Bad🐕 you can tell Dan had lost the effortlessness. With a ton of respect to Mr.Agnew, keep it going, but let the title "NAZARETH" have a well deserved, permanent vacation.
This is Epic ! It's so hard to think of what it's called it might get lost. This makes you wonder why Nazareth didn't make a few movies ! The fourth part is my favorite for an "Aud Lang Syne replacement". The third part Stavinsky meets Mozart for "Sound Check". ... Tom Petty had a hit, covering the cover of part two - Roger McGuinn & Chris Hilman- "So You Wanna be a R&R 🌟" and the First part is full of fun with sound board work. Dedicating it to Joni Mitchell impersonating crossed Radio Signals. With Joni Mitchell fading in. It's like a Pacman game of the time... ...This set. It goes with Zeps soundcheck in "What Is (and WSNB)" and Alice Cooper Welcome to My Nightmare the scene where they use a movie projector onto Warehouse Door Flaps early Green room like the movie matches the dancers coming out of the screenshots through the flaps. ... ... This set comes on like a cross for Bob Dylan transcending folk music to electric Rock and beyond... ...Then Tom Petty Train Robs the song first ... Then they did it over with Slayer. Too much to talk about here.
Nazareth.. so cool about a pilgrammage' to "Nazareth PA" the Land of Guitar amongst Penn's Woods. By then there are other good tracks on the whole 'Close Enough For Rock & Roll ' Just remember Telegram is the story..
Dan McCafferty.. This Guy has Little Richard on his idols list Maybe Little Richard was the first screamer. Little Richard had a polite scream like he was holding back some for people who don't like screaming. "The Mac Dan " is like the "Bravehesrt". of Singer Screamers, I thought it over for awhile who could scream more than Bon Scott - Brian Johnson. Then we might say Axl Rose 🌹. Dan McCafferty screams for soul then throw in Ted Nugent Iggy Pop sounds a bit like Frank Sinatra sometimes.Dan can't even sing like Dan he is still amongst us. This set is where they could make some docs . Steven Tyler should scream up beside Dan & scream a little something. Screamer scarin' . Dan sings that Love Hurts sing along with Dan you will recognize your cardio-vascular if you try to steal this 🐈 cat's voice. I shouldnt sayTom Petty was the one that discovered the mummy -fied remains of "So You Wanna be a rock & roll 🌟". Like be wary to let the voice tread henceforth. Tom Petty sang somewhat smoked several joints previously on Great Love-able Ballads while The Mac Dan screamed him down the hall. Sound Check is as if an order to surrender. Sirens singing followed by the "simple little wicked triplet". Like Bob Dylan DJ on the radio One - - - Now Bob Dylan lived in these times and He lived in the times of Jerry Garcia. ... With a backup singer original guitarist being the singer of "Baby Come Back".. Those vocals are more Crystal Clear singing. Then I have to stop and think where are backing vocals in Nazareth's volumes. Also his son then filled the lead Gutar player po (role). This a Rock Opera for those who have all the talent and equipment to pick up on and make a version.
Funny you should bring up Dan and AC/DC.. I read a Story that Angus and Malcolm had in fact had approached McCafferty about being their new Lead Singer before they hooked up with Brian Johnson. Dan of course turned down the offer... Interesting when you consider that there are similarities in both Dan's and Brian's vocals (e.g. listen to HAIR OF THE DOG album then go listen to BACK IN BLACK album. Also the fact that Nazareth are of course from Scotland... Angus and Malcolm were born in Glasgow before they immigrated to Australia...same with Bon Scott
@@donalddodds9471 I like Brian Johnson but like you wrote, Dan would have been good lead. I have all of their albums. I guess back then Nazareth was doing good so Dan didnt need another band and I remember from Brian's interviews he said at the time he retired from music he was working in autoshop with financial problems when he got the call he was so happy and he always thank to the fan from Cleveland who sent a Geordie tape to AC/DC management. He was a better choice than Terry Slesser, Buzz Shearman, Alan Fryer and Noddy Holder for AC/DC I am glad they signed him and I have been a fan until Axl came. My other choice For AC/DC lead would be Udo Dirkschneider, in an interview he said if they have called me, I would say yes. Brian and Cliff not around Mal long gone, Phil has his own problems AC/DC is not my band anymore its like the time Queen continued without Freddie. If Angus signed with Udo, I would still follow them.
Long time favorite rock band since 1975ish.
Criminally Underated....
Best known song called "love hurts".
Come on Rock n Roll Hall of Fame

The most Criminally underrated Rock Band in History...Why the hell is Nazareth Not in the Rock And Roll Hall of fame???
They ain't mush on them Yooorapeons in there. Theyd rather put rappers.
They dont belong!

I have been a fan of Nazareth since the year 1974.

Same here.

Good Job. I never want to listen to this song unless it includes the 'Here We Are Again' ending. It just isn't right without it.

Dan would be a great singer for AC/DC much better than Axl...
