  • BOSCASTLE CORNWALL | Stunningly beautiful Cornish village close to Port Isaac and Launceston that is perfect for a day trip or holiday. We take a walking tour from the Boscastle fishing village to the harbour and the clifftops and seafront. Come with me on this Gimbal Walk TV Cornwall adventure.
People are drawn to Boscastle, Cornwall for a variety of reasons, but here are some of the top draws:
Boscastle is a small village nestled in the Valency Valley, with a picturesque harbour that's a protected inlet. The charming harbor is lined with colorful stone cottages, art galleries, cafes, and pubs, making it a delightful place to wander around and soak up the quintessential British seaside atmosphere.
Boscastle is situated right on the South West Coast Path, a national trail perfect for walkers and hikers. The trail offers stunning coastal scenery, dramatic cliffs, hidden coves, and beautiful beaches. Hikers can choose to walk short sections or embark on multi-day adventures, enjoying the fresh sea air and ever-changing coastal vistas.
Beyond the coastal path, there are numerous woodland walks around Boscastle, offering a chance to explore the beauty of the Cornish countryside. The National Trust owns much of the land surrounding Boscastle, ensuring its preservation and providing lovely walking trails through serene woodlands. Breathe in the fresh air and unwind under the cover of trees while surrounded by nature.
Here are some other top tourist and visitor attractions in Boscastle, catering to a range of interests:
Boscastle is home to the Museum of Witchcraft, the world's largest collection of witchcraft-related artifacts. This fascinating museum explores the history of witchcraft and magic practices, with exhibits on paganism, Wicca, and folklore. It's a great place to delve into a unique cultural phenomenon and challenge perceptions.
Explore the dramatic coastline from a different perspective by taking a boat trip from the harbor. Keep an eye out for marine wildlife like dolphins, seals, and a variety of seabirds as you cruise along the rugged cliffs and hidden coves.
Boscastle has a reputation for its witchy vibe, and there are several shops selling crystals, herbs, and other New Age items. Explore these shops to find unique souvenirs or talismans, or simply browse and lose yourself in the mystical atmosphere.
Learn about these majestic draft horses, see them up close, and even take a carriage ride at the Shire Horse Centre. These gentle giants were once a common sight working the fields of Britain, and the center offers a chance to connect with a piece of equine history.
Explore this National Trust property with its beautiful wildflower meadows, perfect for a picnic or a relaxing stroll. The vibrant wildflowers create a stunning natural tapestry, and the gentle slopes offer scenic views of the surrounding area.
No coastal holiday is complete without some time on the beach.
Bossiney Cove: A short walk from Boscastle, Bossiney Cove is a sheltered beach with golden sands and rock pools, ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and exploring the hidden treasures of the rockpools at low tide.
Crackington Haven: Another beach option close by is Crackington Haven, a popular spot for surfing, bodyboarding, and other water sports. Experience the thrill of riding the waves or relax on the golden sands and soak up the sun.
Boscastle was the site of a disastrous flood. The 2004 Boscastle flood occurred on Monday 16 August 2004 in the two villages of Boscastle and Crackington Haven in Cornwall and caused a lot of damage.

This place has so many memories. Been here numerous times with my late wife and kids. Was there about two years ago with my too youngest children. It was out first holiday without their mum. Memories came floodinh back. We were actually there back in 2004 about two days before the flood. What a beautiful place.

It was because of watching this on the news back in 2004. What told me to Tell my kids never to buy a house near a river.
Because it might look good in the summer, but not in the winter. Time (fall) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 .

@@GimbalWalkTV Across the bridge from the witchcraft museum, is a small kiosk selling ice creams. I asked the woman serving, if she knew what the structure was. She told me she was the granddaughter of the now deceased chap who used to own it, and she told me it was a lime kiln. I thanked her and told her that I couldn't have asked a better person!
