  • How to Soundproof a room is a question I get a lot from Beginners and what I tell them firstly is when focusing on soundproofing a complete room, you can't only on soundproofing the walls, You need to also focus on the doors and windows! And certainly don't forget about soundproofing the floors and ceilings! There's many aspects when it comes to making an entire room quieter. This video will focus on all these aspects and also give you all the information you need to choose the right soundproofing material.
    The most important thing about soundproofing a room is knowing what you're soundproofing from. Are you trying to get rid of air borne noise, or structural noise. These two types of noise will need two different types of soundproofing methods.

      Hi there. I am experiencing some issues with sound coming from cars that reverberate inside my bedroom. I have caulked around corners and even made up an acoustic cover on the outside of my sliding glass door. This noise seems to be coming through the walls. I can't hear music or people talking only deeper sounds coming from accelerating vehicles and rumbling. If I were to put some heavy furniture against the walls and put say some acoustic tiles attached to a board I could place on the wall where the sound is coming from would this reduce the noise?

    This really is the ultimate checklist, I'm just a college student looking to eliminate noise coming out of my room; I came to this video to learn more about acoustic panels, and I discovered that my door would be the main culprit. Acoustic panels are basically the toppings of a sound-proofed room if I understood the content correctly. I also learned so much despite not being able to perform any of it in my apartment. The use of resilient channel systems, acoustic sealant, weatherstripping, the ideal drywall material, applying putty pads in inconspicuous spots in the electrical routing, thanks for educating me, you got my sub.

    1. Soundproofing insulation.
    2.acustic puddy pad around all electrical outlets.
    3. triple pane windows.
    4. Acoustic caulking or backer rod around all gaps, doors and windows and before baseboards are installed.
    5. Mass loaded vinyl between 5/8 drywall.
    6. Solid core doors.
    7. Resillant chanel on ceilings between floors.
    8. Acoustic drywall instead of mass liaded vinyl.

    Hey what do you think of stacking heavy duty aluminium foil for soundproofing a window then taping each side to insulate it. I know from your videos you say MASS is needed but would it atleast be effective as "blackout curtains" are, its kind of the same workflow except the curtain isolation is done with Velcro. I ask because i use a portable ac with casement windows, and this creates a massive gap from having to open the window for venting. I did buy a bag-like window seal to stop hot air from coming in, but it doesn't do too much for soundproofing and the only possible thing i can do with these type of windows is stacking curtains+foil. You can google "portable ac casement window seal" for a perfect visual representation.
    TLDR: not wanting you to be my personal helper but i did read foil blocks 85% of the sound, so curious about your opinion on it.

    I’m here to soundproof a CNC machine with a 24000rpm Spindle I’ve installed in my Photo Store, I have built a fully painted 20mm Plywood box with Silicone in all gaps. After watching your video: inside I will spray Automotive Sound Spray, then Automotive sound sheets because we have all these, I might add carpet over that for a better look, the front door is a large acrylic sheet, I will add 1 or 2 layers and lastly I will rest the 40x60” machine on a layer of rubber.

    I need help with blocking out some extremely loud, daily noise. I’m talking LOUD motorcycles and stuff to my left wall. I admit, I need to caulk the edges around the trim. But that’s also where the wall unit, ac is. Im positive it’s 3/8 single-sheet drywall. May or may not be insulation. 🤷🏻‍♂️😂 I’ll give more info if needed. Any recommendation?

    Thank you! We've never lived in a bottom apartment before and the folks walking up/down the interior stairs (between our bedroom/living room) drives us nuts! Plus they're heavy feet stomping around, and yes, we can tell when they are stomping versus regular walking around, or if the lady is wearing heels, etc. We hardly ever hear them talking, but the stomping means we have structural sound proofing needs. And since we rent, we don't want to spend a lot of money. I'd really just like a cocoon thing over our heads in bed at night. We've already tried headphones, every kind of ear plugs, etc. UGH

      Have you tried a sleep headband? I reviewed one where I was impressed with how well it worked for only $20. There are some $100 models that I’d also recommend if your budget allows but honestly, the $20 one is a great start! Plus if you buy it from Amazon, you can easily return it if you don’t like it! • @soundproofguide

      Yes. The compound is the stuff that between the two layers of drywalls. The sealant is what you want to have around doors and windows and electrical outlets.

    Can I please speak with you? This matter might be life or death… MY OWN! I’m seeking something to go around the inner casing of a door that does not need to open ever again. So far I’ve purchased everything you said. What sticky backing do I need to surround edge of door that would be 1 1/2 “ thick (same as door thickness) I’m only finding some thing you linked for a window. I’m thinking that’s not what you would suggest for door as it pops out too thick to close door. I’m looking for something thinner, if it would go around a door so I can close door.
    Sorry I’m advance for my multiple comments TMI… all of which will likely help your channel, not hurt it. I’m speaking my comments and Siri is doing it’s own translation of what I’m saying - driving me nearly crazy at this point 🤪 so now I’ve wrote an entire blog post/ novel in your comment section.

    OK will you please make one more CZcams video for the females, describing the difference between the first linked green glue compound, which looks very similar to the second linked green glue sealant?
    They are obviously not the same thing they only partly sound like it. Are they used together? Can you use one or the other or must we use both ….and which goes first? Also, I’m assuming I can walk into Home Depot and they can tell me what gun and casing I need in order to use both of these cans of green glue?

    • @soundproofguide
      @soundproofguide  Před 11 měsíci

      Great question! The green glue sealant is the one you want to use to seal the gaps around doors, windows etc. And the green glue compound is the one you use in between two layers of drywall in hopes to reduce noise transfer between rooms.

  • @studiosingyourstyle
    @studiosingyourstyle Před 11 měsíci

    Every time you mention acoustic sealant are you talking about green glue because I’m familiar with green glue or yeah I’m not clear what you’re referring to when you’re saying acoustic sealant. From the looks of your video it’s not clear what you’re using for the acoustic sealant.
