This is my favorite song of all time because of what it means to me. My moms died in 2008. She died in her sleep. She at my grandmother’s house. I got the call that she died. I hopped in the car and drove over there. The ambulance hadn’t come to pick up the body yet. So I saw her in the bed. I couldnt take it. So I got back in the car and drove around the neighborhood. My phone was on shuffle and this song came on!!! that chorus hit!!!!!!! “Baby don’t you cry. Everything’s gone be alright. I know we make it through this!! That had to be my mother speaking to me. Outta all of the songs that could have came on it was this one. A nigga had to pullover and cry. My favorite song of all time. Love you Sandra Merrimon
TBH, I enjoy the original much more, and I heard it AFTER Freeway's Alright, which on its own is a monster song. But this one is a fine complement. I actually play both together.
@@TonyStarkCLC - I'm a huge Free fan, but the original is definitely better. Free wasn't really even on topic. Sounds like he had wrote to a whole different song. Free had more of a hood party vibe with this song even with the way he was doing his Free dance while rapping. The bridge is cut-off on this version, too, and Anthony laced that jawn! This is still pretty good because Free is that dude, just could've been a little bit better.
I wouldn't say classic but damn close... had 1 or 2 skippers on it... the song with snoop and the song produced by kanye west were kind of weak to me... just my opinion. No disrespect
This song got me off the streets, I went and got my GED from a boot camp program for at youth risk, went into the military, got my college degree, now I own 163 acres of land and a house! Thanks freeway! I was 16 when this shit dropped and it got me off my ass. Thanks man. Just know you helped inspire someone to change their life. I’m sitting here playing this because at 17 when I was at that boot camp for at youth risk, it was winter and snowing out and I snuck and listened to this song and said when I make it, I’ll play this. I made it man.
This album did the same for me. When Beanie said "gotta get your soul clean, before they blow them horns like Coltrane", it was like God SMACKED me awake! Hip hop is so powerful. We are blessed to be a part of the most beautiful culture.

Freeway is one of the few rappers that has an actual style.. original flow and wordplay. One of the few that make me still love hip-hop. Really appreciate dude
Bro 11 years later and I just came here to say the exact same thing after revisiting this track. Man what a breath of fresh air to be able to go back and actually experience some originality. Thank God for that golden era
i love how roc-a-fella made 2 different versions of this song: the hip hop version with Freeway and the R&B version with Allen Anthony. both were conscious and positive on the same track, but they were still each their own unique song at the same time.
This was one of those feel good Saturday morning joints that made you get up & hit the barbershop & get fresh. Then pull out them crispy new sneakers that you just copped & hit the block
Taxidermistification I know it's more to life than that. I wasn't talking about hitting the block in a hustling type of way. Just meeting up with your crew & kicking it
From North Philly, this was my motivation song to get through my last year of HS. Shout out C/O 2003! Made it out, can't believe it's 20 years ago tomorrow...
Frfr the early 2000s was so much more fun and simpler because it wasn't no social media or too much technology and smartphones wasn't running in our lives like nowadays.
@@nuttybuddy14 Even though you're right about Trayvon Martin but it doesn't change the fact that the majority of Blacks killed by the cops is because of resisting arrest and trying to kill the cops.
I just turned 26 and I remember I was like 9 going on 10 when this record came out , I understand the struggle so much now especially after losing my mom back in '02 and I always felt this song since then , I just gotta be strong and everything is gonna be alright I just got to believe 💓💓🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I'm not saying you have to be a thug to enjoy gangster music but you have to be from the hood and understand the struggle of ghetto life and poverty to really feel this song . I'm 30 years old married for 13 years with 2 kids struggling to make ends meet living in a run down 2 bedroom apartment with all kinds of issues . Been dealing with depression since I was a kid and it followed me into my adult years and effected my whole life . Because of stress and depression it lead to me and my wife getting into a domestic violence situation last year where now we have to visit our kids at grandma which thank God she's got them instead of the system. Me and my wife went to jail, lost my car , apartment is all messed up from domestic violence, can't hold down a job due to all of the craziness in my life and I'm at the bus stop listening to this on my way to drug test and counseling. This song really hits hard when you in the struggle gives me the chills everytime!
Yes, we all come from the same place, that's why this song hits so hard for us and is timeless, I was depressed and didn't even realize I was depressed till I came out of it. Hoping this finds you in a good place in every way, spiritually, mentally, emotionally, physically, financially.
Everything we go thru in life is temporary. Nothing lasts forever. That Storm that you and your family went thru shall pass. Better days are ahead! 🙌🙌🙌🙌 Blessings to you and your family!
This will be forever my favorite song. My mother died when I was 21 (2008). She had just got out of the hospital from surgery and died two days later at my grandmas house. I got the call at 7am. Went over to her house and the body was still there. I couldnt take it so I went for drive. By the time I got to the end of the street this song came on. And the iPod was not shuffle. So this gets to a nigga every time I hear it.
