Making an Acoustic Guitar - Super Fast

- Last summer I made an acoustic guitar, my first one. I made the guitar from a bunch of free and scrap wood I already had so I did not have to spend a lot of money on something I would mess up for sure. I made a long, not sped up video of the whole process at the time. Now I condensed my entire guitar making video from a whopping 45 minutes to a short and sweet 6 minutes of acoustic guitar making goodness.

I made a guitar at school and this is really cool to see the different process that was done and to see how good the guitar came out.
I did it myself. I used Woodglut woodworking plans for this.

I’m surprised at how simple this looks. Don’t get me wrong, making a good sounding instrument is really hard but the process of making a guitar (not taking quality into consideration) seems quite simple. No special tools needed, just time and some elbow grease. I might give it a shot sometime. Seems like a fun holiday project.
There are some specialized tools that are highly beneficial if not outright neccessary, really depends if you intend to build more than one or two. It also depends whether you intend to use prefabricated parts which can eliminate the need for otherwise indespensible tools.
@@deepfreeze202 not that specialized. I have all of them or have the tools to make them. Toolmaking is honestly one of my favorite things to do. Then again, a lot has changed since I wrote that four years ago and I'm now a piano technician so while not the same as guitar building, the skillset necessary is very similar.
Thanks for making a video for all of us with ADD… I finally got to see the whole process! (ADD stands for Attention Deficit... I should look up dinosaur videos… Or take a woodworking class….wonder where my phone is.....)

You can easily make a guitar super fast just by simply taking it on a plane.
i'm a luthier myself, and this was tense as balls. due to the unusual order, i thought he forgot the truss rod and i was like "Oh god, he's making this insane guitar with no truss rod, its gonna fuck up. please remember the truss remember the trus for the love of christ! TRUSS DAMNIT YEEEES its not fucked!!

Not a lot I spend maybe €100 in total on tuners, fret wire, truss rod, glues and lacquer. Maybe even less ;)

Considering the time and effort building a guitar it's worth buying quality tone woods. At least do not use wood with knots. Spruce for the top and bracing, mahogany will do for sides and back. Good luck.
