    RE: PAUSING, EXPRESSIONS & AIR-INSTRUMENTS:
Please be mindful that we will pause (we prefer to react in the moment & to avoid copyright strike), we will react with enthusiasm, smiles, tears, conversation, exchanged looks and air-instruments. We are expressive by nature and are truly very quirky in every sense of the word. This is who we are and this is what we’ve got to offer. We understand it may not be for everyone, but here's to hoping you all enjoy and we absolutely love positive comments and feedback.
    RE: LIVE VERSIONS vs STUDIO:
Check out why we haven't uploaded any live versions... yet. They will be coming, we promise!

Shawn Lane although well known in fusion and guitar circles is actually very unknown to many. He was a tremendous talent as you know. He was also a major victim of the cut throat music business as many musicians end up. It is easy to be dazzled by his speed but after years of listening to him it is his melody and note choice mixed with speed that is so intriguing. Thanks so much for stepping out and doing the video, GREAT!

Shawn Lane was a good friend of mine... most cannot even comprehend his musical expertise. Jonas Hellborg was a master bassist, who worked so well with Shawn's style.

Hellborg, Lane and Sipe was the best musical Trio EVER. Superb musicians all around. Love their live work. You can find several excellent bootlegs on youtube.

There is a full concert of this trio on CZcams : "Jonas Hellborg, Shawn Lane, Jeff Sipe - Atlanta, GA., 1996-08-19 ". There is a song where he might play faster on the album, "Rice With The Angels", but I didn't choose it. He became known in the guitar world from his "All Along The Watchtower" solo vehicle with the group Black Oak Arkansas when he was 14. He suffered from psoriatic arthritis from the age of 12, which effected his guitar playing, and the medication he took for it was the cause of a substantial weight gain. When he reduced that med., he had to use other pain killers to replace it. Near the end of his life, he needed to be put on medical oxygen, and died of lung disease at 40. He played some extremely fast stuff on the 1991 Mark Varney Project release "Centrifical Funk", which also featured Frank Gambale and Brett Garsed. (The first in that series 1990's "Truth in Shredding" had Gambale and Holdsworth on it.)

The streak continues! Thanks for this request RG! I love every second of this! The guitar playing was beyond next level! No dull moments! I played guitar when i was younger! Not very well! And gave up on it! But just hearing these amazing guitarists , inspiring me to maybe attempt to pick one up again! Nick and Lex another great reaction! I love seeing your expressions and how much music moves you both! Much love! Keep em coming!!!🎵

Nice reaction! It's mostly the publishers who ban these things out of ignorance. Most of the music is on CZcams anyway and banning video's promoting it on popular channels is insanity. There was a channel with 2 brothers who reacted to Phil Collins' In The Air Tonight and it was so popular that it went back to no.1 in the charts!

FYI. First album 'Powers of Ten'. Another head turner is Centrifugal Funk. A Mike Varney Project which features Shawn, Brett Garsed, Frank Gambale and other luminaries basically jamming on a groove. 'Hey Tee Bone' for example.

The drumming and bass (and compositions in general) are pretty bland for me on that MVP album but man the guitar playing sure makes up for it. all 3 are such tasteful players

I need to look into Shawn Lane more.
Been hearing about him for almost a decade. My 1st album was when I was buying SOO much music at a store in San Diego county when I worked at my 1st Video Game studio, and I saw the CD "Powers of Ten" used, and was kinda' the last days of the shredders for me, and it was fitting that was one of the last type of purchases, that I knew nothing about. "Epilogue for Lisa" will make you guys drown in tears . . . seriously.
Nick; you mention how super friendly Frank Gambale is; I wrote an email to Rick Beato about the Spotify Top 20 Metal tracks, vs what my personal list was, and comments being deleted because of links, and this is what Rick mentioned in his reply (which was a HUGE honor that he even responded); "I’m not sure about your comments? I had Frank Gambale text me the other day to ask me if I had blocked him because he couldn’t respond in the comments on one of our videos. I wrote him back and said “Why would I block you Frank? Of course not” But, we couldn’t figure out why he couldn’t leave a comment".
Frank seems to be so humble and down to earth, HE would actually think he was _bothering_ Rick! You should watch Rick interviewing him if you haven't already (there is 2 interviews from 2 weeks, and 4 days ago on the "Rick Beato 2" channel, and from 2 years ago on his regular channel :).

More fusion gold! Fits right in with my faves: Holdsworth, Beck. Torn, Stevens, DiMeola, etc, now Herring...
In the car on the way back from hiking as the sun sets and the lights are starting to come on, tired yet relaxed. The speakers blazing sophisticated guitar lines as we make our way home with the windows down, smiling. 😺

I love how Shawn would come in subtly and then shower the scales in the song up and down but in the key of the song, and then End ind the same tune, but still end it all with his vibrato!

    @MonsterSound Před 2 lety +2

Damn that was fantastic. I felt they were just jammin' & flyin' through sky. Jeff Sipe reminds me of a fantastic drummer I used to play with who was so crisp, where whenever he wanted a power rim shot, it fired like a gunshot. Dynamic talents all on the same trip. THX guys. 🎶⭐😎👍🍁

It seems most/all of Jonas' work is available legitimately on CZcams, including the Hellborg-Lane-Sipe trio albums such as 'Personae' and 'Time is the Enemy'... they are even set up as playlists, so you can hit play and listen to the albums in the correct running order.
I recommend them, lots of light and shade, it's not all full on... but, by golly, when you're in the mood for something full on, that trio brings it!

You need a fast ear. Btw, Jonas Hellborg gave me a strike after I had a snippet of a Shawn Lane video on CZcams for 15 years. I put on the solo and linked to AbtractLogix so people could buy the entire album. Not really considerate. Idc because I am not a content producer. But if I was, it could take down my livelihood.
