@brookessoap the trouble with that, is that trans-activist say it would "out" people. (Yes, I know we already know) ...so maybe there could be an OPEN category for trans AND women?

      "Not about far right/far left"
You're right...but the difference is that the far right doesn't support trans at all...and the far left just wants to give trans-activists ALL their demands.
Most folks are perfectly happy to embrace trans people in society...but not in sports, shelters, prisons, etc.

As a matter of fact, studies show that trans-identified males retain male levels of aggression and sexual offense after transition.
Males are 100x more likely to sexually assault than women are, regardless of how they identify. Furthermore, males feeling uncomfortable using changerooms with other males is not the responsibility of women to fix.
There have been countless instances of males (whether or not they ID as trans in life) using self ID laws to prey on women and girls. Self ID allows ANY male to enter our spaces. Women fought hard for our rights to single-sex spaces. Taking them away is misogynistic and cruel.
Don't even get me started on prisons, r@pe crisis centres, and women's shelters. Studies by the Ministry of Justice in the UK and the Correctional Services of Canada show that about half of trans-identified males in women's prisons are sex offenders (44% in Canada and 52% in the UK). R@pe Crisis centres are being expected to allow males to counsel and even EXAMINE recently r@ped women and girls. Multiple males have self ID'd into women's shelters and assaulted women once there.
It's not a "cave man" instinct to protect women and girls. It's using common sense. Not to mention that women and girls deserve comfort and dignity when we undress.
Most schools have policies that bar teachers from entering children's washrooms. This is not because they think all teachers are predators. It's because that's how safeguarding works.

If a man wants to join the world of a woman and be considered as such, than stand firmly with women! On the facts and not just what works for the Trans community. Women fought so hard for their rights and while I support people living their.lives, it is absolutely critical to consider not only your own wants and needs but also those of the women you are joining. @jamielee8054 It is complicated, I guess. However, it seems pretty lame people lump us all into this alphabet soup b.s. and label us all on the same team! If any of us speaks for women's rights rather than trans, we get called traitors, etc. It's like assuming all straight people, or black people, or any other group should agree with each other. Trans athletes need their own league. I mean, we have the special Olympics for a reason too, right? Because it's not the same playing field. Again, common sense. We live in strange times. It is not transphobic. That's just how people with weak arguments deflect from scientific facts and get us to be quiet and think we are ignorant. You are just as wise as any of us! Haha

Overall some great points, but really glossed over the locker room like it's a get over it moment and girls arent going to be traumitized for seeing "junk" as he put it. Need to bring up the fact that by the age of 18 that stats show that around 1 in 4 girls will be sexually assaulted. Even if this trans person isnt doing anything wrong, girls deal with a lot of trauma from predators and many girls, especially as teens, are extremely self conscience due to sexual harrassment, body changes that are immense at this age, and sadly people acting like girls can't possibly have concerns. It's way more than just fears, it's self esteem, it's literal dangers and perceptions. In addition there are reports of assaults not just in bathrooms but also in jails. Btw in the Us and UK they have placed male rapists in female prisons when they declared they were now female. Again the question isnt number like well it's only one or two girls assaulted so who cares. To act like well it's just over reaction is to ignore all the different experiences girls/women go through in public spaces that, apparently, men don't. A private uni-sex bathroom/changing room would help not just trans but those who are self conscience, have experienced bullying, and who have other body worries due to assaults and such.

This was a great conversation. I was a bit uncomfortable with the bathroom debate though. Gender dysphoria is real but so is autogynephilia and the issue is purely about the safety of biological women, whether it be bathrooms or prisons it is a safety issue and we need to keep our spaces women only regardless of how "unkind" it may be interpreted. Society needs to find common sense solutions that support sufferers of gender dysphoria that does not involve women having to give up their hard won private spaces in order to accomodate biological men.

The fact that a 43 year old trans weight lifter was able to compete in the women's Olympics (for australia i believe) will tell you all you need to know. Sure, they only came 12th but context is all, 43 is geriatric in weight lifting. There is no way in hell a biological woman of 43 would have stood a chance against women almost half her age. 12th in the olympics is still 12th in the world, which in that context is an amazing achievement. A 25 year old trans woman would have flattened her components. I am all for trans people participating as their chosen gender in all aspects of life, except for sports. It would invalidate womens sports because of the obvious and unavoidable physiological differences and these young girls have trained their entire lives, full time to be where they all. To be wiped out by a mediocre trans athlete in their chosen field would be devastating. A trans women would never need to train to that extent to obliterate the competition.

So...not really sure of what the solutions might be...but am leaning toward the "create a third class of competitors where needed". I do believe there are classes of competition where physicality's are clearly different and where you would not WANT to mix it up. Across-the-board solutions are obviously not working. So what...do we wait until there will be numbers of athletes in various sports to warrant, or make practical, that third class? And from what I find in my searches, at places like Mayo clinic, the opinion seems to be that the effects of the drugs are reversable. And then you read that there ARE lasting effects, like the change on growth physiology changes or delays. Those effects must certainly be "forever". Anyway...my final thoughts about mingling the sexes in sports leaves me voting for the mingling and inclusions...but agree...the sexes are indeed fundamentally different and do need some sort of scale to maintain the fairness. Yep...hard questions and thoughts. Thanks.

Because of that, the RX weights for women is generally 20-30% less than men. You can easily see this if you look up Crossfit Games weights. Thank you for speaking on this issue. I don't know when this was recorded but there are now LOTS of cases of men competing in women's sports and dominating. Swimming, MMA, basketball, track & field, rugby, volleyball, cycling, and the list goes on.
But I must strongly disagree with her stance on men in women's locker rooms and bathrooms. When a man goes into a woman's facility nobody knows what his intention is except him and unfortunately by the time his intention is known it's too late because he's assaulted someone. Even if he has no intention on doing anything to anyone he has forced himself into the privacy of every woman in that space regardless of if she is ok with it or not. And unfortunately there are even more incidents of women being victimized by men in women's bathrooms, locker rooms, showers and now prison cells than men invading women's sports.

We will never be able to legislate Utopia
We will never be able to create Utopia
We are bound by the laws of physics and we should also be bound by the laws of common sense
When these things are at odds take as much information as possible and get a consensus amongst the populace.
Do it with dignity compassion and respect however
There should be no fence straddling
    It’s abundantly obvious and clear.
It is unfair to have transgender athletes compete against women
The majority of the population feels this way, the science supports it.
Politicians and leaders need to stop lacking the courage of their convictions and stand proudly on what their constituents believe .

If my kid came to me saying they are trans the first thing I would do is get more insight on what is making him feel that way. Is it that he feels he doesn't fit the stereotypes? Is it that he likes the same things as a lot of the girls? Or is it an actual feeling of dysphoria? That would be my first step... If it was based on his likes and interests, I would say to him, you can still be a boy and like those things. You can be a boy and wear a skirt or paint your nails, etc. You do not have to live your life based on stereotypes, and you don't have to label yourself based on those stereotypes either. To me, this pick your gender discussion feel a lot like pick your stereotype, and that feels really harmful to me. I don't fit the stereotypes of a lot of women. I'm not a girly girl by society's definition, but I am a woman all the same. I am so thankful that this was not prevalent when I was a kid! I would have struggled with it, 100% because I struggled with not fitting in due to my tendency to seek out more things that were typical of boys and in that I related more to boys. If it seemed he was actually experiencing dysphoria I would go get blood work to make sure he isn't deficient on any nutrients, as nutrition deficiencies such as zinc and magnesium have been associated with anorexia, and I feel anorexia and any sort of body dysphoria are very similar. If he was not deficient on anything I would try to find a professional I felt I could trust, and go from there, but also... I would say just be who you are and dress however you wanna dress! You do not have to put a label on it.

I know it's not the prime topic of this episode but Chris brought it up so I'm gonna respond.
Regardless of what hyperbole nonesense college kids are saying about Israelis or about supporting Hamas, I find it hard to believe (I don't believe) that these college demonstrators are truly antisemitic. If these kids were continuing a culture of Jew hating that goes back 150 years than yes-i would be concerned about them. But they only started demonstrating when Israel began bombing mass population centers in Gaza (I think all of Gaza is a mass population center). That tells me their true anger has more to do with the War and little to do with Judaism in general. Now Rightwing antisemitism is centuries old rather than being triggered by recent events.
I think focusing on college campus movements is a distraction from the grim realities of what is happening in Gaza.
This guest speaking about the fairness or unfairness of trans-athletes made a few short dismissive comments about aspects of LGTB culture. It doesn't mean she's anti-LGTB (I'm well aware she's gay). I bumped into her tone a bit. Likewise, saying pro-Hamas shuck in the heat of anger doesn't make someone truly antisemitic. Evangelical churches claiming most Jews are going to Hell seems anti-semetic. But that's old traditional REAL antisemitism.

Thank you Chris for having Jillian on your show. Jillian is absolutely correct--no males in girls' and women's sports. Allowing males (even if they have been given puberty blockers or suppress testosterone and take estrogen does NOT erase the male sports performance advantage. This total disregard for the rights of girls and women to fair sports is the height of misogyny.

I don't know for sure, but it is certainly something that would not be a popular opinion among some of the folks I work alongside. Thus, as someone who is honest to a fault, I avoid this conversation at all costs, and I find that reality unfortunate. And holy hell...the medical mcartheism is so real on this and many issues! It is insane. It makes it hard to trust professionals. I find this to be an issue regarding the power of organizations such as the cdc, the American Psychiatric Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
