    This is relevant to my research process and practice. I'm a writer/poet and student on the MA writing programme at RCA London and about to embark upon a research project. Thanks for the references made.
    Patricia Levy gave great answers throughout this conversation!😮

    Fantastic explanation! Here, in Brazil, we have a Creative Sensitivity Method that were developed by Professor Ivone Cabral!! I used in my doctoral thesis and were a great experience in terms of data production.

    Thank you Dr. Patricia and Dr. Kriukow! I'm a 3rd year music student and it's my first time making a research paper and it is an arts based research. This research was very hard for me to understand but you made it very easy!

    Arts based research and promote translational knowledge to get the knowledge put into practice faster, and the audience for art can reach more people than those that read the journal articles.

      If you're on social media, you can follow me on FB. I often post things you may be interested in and I try to respond to comments, etc. You may also be interested in picking up Method Meets Art 3rd edition, Handbook of Arts-Based Research, and/or Re/Invention: Methods of Social Fiction-- they will all give you more info about arts-based research (and all are available at guilford.com). Are there ways to contribute to this field without a masters or PHD? I’m a BFA animation major but I also enjoy social analysis and want to implement that type of research into my storytelling.

    • @qualitativeresearcher
      @qualitativeresearcher  Před 2 lety +1

      If you want to conduct your own research then, by all means, you can do it and publish your results. Everyone can learn about research, so if you are passionate about this I am sure you will succeed! If you would rather work for someone, in turn, this is a whole separate topic and whilst it is difficult in general (even with a PhD), it is not impossible to get a job in research, especially outside academia. I would always recommend starting with interships or even volunteering.

      @@qualitativeresearcher Thank you for the advice! It’s encouraging that there is an entry point for artists to use their skillset to contribute to advancing and communicating knowledge meaningfully. It’s sometimes demotivating to be an artist since the markets available to us are mainly commercial…

    • @qualitativeresearcher
      @qualitativeresearcher  Před 2 lety +1

      @@Dylaneggs Please do not be demotivated to be an artist - It's such an inspiring thing to do! And yes, arts-based research is definitely gaining traction. There are some links to some books to get you started in the description of the video, and when it comes to looking for jobs outside academia, I have a separate video about this so maybe you'll get some ideas from it? By the way, what is it that you do as an artist?

      @@qualitativeresearcher Oh I make films! Not live action, experimental animation intended for older audiences. I have some up on my channel but they aren’t very academic or anything. Im trying to I guess adapt qualitative analysis into screenplays and visuals with projects I’m currently working on.

    • @qualitativeresearcher
      @qualitativeresearcher  Před 2 lety +1

      @@Dylaneggs it definitely is, and it is fascinating what you do ! Regardless of whether these are "academic" or not, I do find this extremely interesting - my brother is an artist too, he is a 3d modeling supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic and works on lots of major films nowadays (Kong, transformers, aquaman, ready player one, etc.). I also have other artist friends who do this more for fun and just try to make ends meet (drawing comics, designing clothes, etc.) but I always envied every single one of them as I do find all forms of arts extremely interesting. Not much of an artist myself (apart from drawing doodles on a piece of paper when I'm bored lol), but I do like writing fiction in my free time, which is not something I talked about much on my social media. Anyway, subscribed to your channel for later :) Feel free to reach out with any questions
