I love this woman, Such a roller coaster of emotions when she sings. I wish I could see her on the voice just to see the reactions of the judges and to watch her launch into superstardom so she could bring this amazing talent and this genre back to the world. It need to hear more soul again instead of most of the nonsense we are forced to ingest. Morgan is pure soul and I always need more.

Crickets chirping on a hot summer night are beautiful. Morgan came back up after an encore to appease the crowd even more. Her voice sounded just as fresh as when she started. Then you get a pitch perfect 2nd encore. Even the crickets quiet down and listen to the song she ended the night with. Hell, the crickets in my apartment are quieting down for this one on the computer speakers. I look forward to the day I can hear Morgan James in person. I might even just cage up one of my crickets for the pleasure to come along.

+iriska2kiss Hmm she's VERY good and is a classically trained vocalist after all, but not sure it's fair to compare her vocals to Aretha who is arguably one of the greatest pop/soul/R&B vocalists of all time (from a technical standpoint) as both are extremely capable.

I spoke with her husband after they performed in a small venue in Omaha a year or so ago about why she never showed up on American Idol. He sincerely said that Simon offered her a guaranteed "final 4" slot in exchange for signing a long term record deal with his outfit. She declined, wanting to not give up control of her creativity. Although this goes to the phoniness of these singer shows, I applaud her for staying true to her dream of making it as an independent artist. She reminds me so much of Eva Cassidy, both in vocal quality and the fact that Eva's record co. president wanted to pidgeon-hole her into just one genre of music when she sang everything exquisitely. Eva never made the big time as a result and her record co. president said it was the biggest mistake of his professional carer. Eva died of cancer in 1996 at age 34 and in my mind was the right up there with the best of the of the 20th century singers. I truly believe Morgan is on track to be at the top of that list for the 21st century. Let's all support her through her Patreon account and attending her performances. Godspeed Morgan!!!
@@maxwellhouse4267 I absolutely LOVE Morgan. This cover is one of my favorites. Four times now, I've driven 250 miles one way to Minneapolis to see her perform live. And as of this post, I will be going again for a fifth time in a few weeks.
I try to learn everything I can about Morgan and this is the first time I've heard about Amer. Idol and Simon. Knowing her like I do, I can absolutely see her turning down a contract. Early on in her career, she was so excited when she signed on at Epic. But that turned sour in short time. In an interview she says the checkbook that comes with signing a contract is great but that comes with a cost. She wants to do her music and she wants to do it her way, and most importantly, she wants to retain all the rights to her music. And I respect her so much for that. You know she's doing it for the love of the art, not the money. And it shows.
