No one else jumped on this? I just ran across this searching for images for a friend. My son would love this, hell, id put it on my bike too. Ive seen these for car rims. NO ONE on earth has decided to make this after these guys if they are indeed out of business????

In 1996, I invented this principle (quite early, but probably I wasn't the only one to think of this) and came up with a prototype called the 'Ledsaber' that used 30 red leds in a row and a preprogrammed series of images, slogans and expressions that would become visible when manually swinging the ledsaber up and down through the air. I was limited to using red and green leds to illustrate the concept because white and blue leds had only just been invented in those days but were not readily available yet! The story of my life!
@Aaron at Monkeylectric Hi Aaron, thanks for your response. Your CZcams link shows exactly what I came up with all those years ago. And yes, I am very familiar with the zoetrope. In fact, I have patented a 3D version of the praxinoscope, called the Marenoscope, in honor of Étienne-Jules Marey and Émile Reynaud: United States Patent 6,945,872 (plus European patents). Pixar/Disney/Hergé (among others) showed interest, but then came the 2008 economic crises. Bad luck. However, I still have got a lot of visual wonders hiding up my sleeve. Working on my best one as we speak; maybe we should talk about that later! Incidentally, what you are doing really looks great. I live in the bicycle capital of the world and my only worry is, is it cool? LdV

I just installed my m210 on a 20 inch bike and it looks awesome..finally a bike wheel light that got attention from pedestrians and drivers..looking to get another one for my front wheel. cheers!!!

Respect to the guys & girls at monkey electric, I have an M232 which they replaced free of charge because of an installation error on my part, sure I had thought I had properly installed the light only to discover the cable wrapping itself around something whilst on a ride & snapping.

There should be a website that allows bikers to share and upload/images customed images to pass along
with the MonkeyLight PRO you can upload any image or video you like! A lot of people just download images from giphy and imgur.

Hey Joe, We have not tested our lights in Alaska specifically, but the Monkey Light Pro is having lots of success in Moscow. We've built them to stand up to the rigors of daily cycling, so they are waterproof and come with a 1 year warranty. Also, yes, they do show up in the daytime. 256 LEDs is super bright!!!

So cool yet so ridiculously expensive right now (for me). Hopefully the cost comes down in the next couple of years. That being said I did just order the M232 and look forward to trying it out.

Hi Pimpczar--the Monkey Light Pro is pretty different from the M232! With the Pro, you can upload and customize your own content--it has 256 LEDs and can hold up to 1,000 images or 90 seconds of video. Unfortunately, the Pro is out of the price range of many people, so the M232 is a more affordable option. ;-)

Hi Mark. The Pro is designed for bicycle use only, and there are no current plans to adapt it for use with motorcycles.
This only had one flaw I can't get past. As you can tell by the video you have to be moving at a pretty good speed to make a decent picture. Some of these riders are really pumping it.
Cruise around much slower as one might to at a mass group ride "bike party" or just cruise downtown and you'd just see four bars of changing colored lights going around. I imagine 4-8 times more LEDs would be needed to make a good pic at slower speeds.

How does LED's and circuit boards justify $2,000.00? Even after I checked out the website I still couldn't understand how there's such a markup.
Did you have to pay millions for the artists to contribute to the animations? I just don't get it. Very cool but your other cheaper options are within reason. Too bad because I was keen on the Pro version.

It would be cool to make one for motorcycles that attaches to the wheel. So it can help keep us visible on the highway during rush hour. Our bikes are loud but in the end people are allways looking at their phones instead of the road. I've had friends die due to the drivers around us simple not seeing us. They make sudden turns and run us over.

I went to Walmart got an LED strip went down to electronic store. I found a cool long 4000 amp battery for $20. I put some gorilla tape on everything. It looks very cool.😅

You should really look into making super durable products that can be placed on a dirt bike. I would buy one without hesitation. Must withstand pressure washing and being buried in mud or water.

I don't know what bike you ride, but these lights don't cost more than any of my bikes except maybe my '76 Schwinn Superior.
I had those lights and let someone borrow my bike and they destroyed my lights now I can't find them again anywhere can you help I wish to purchase them again

Have you tested these lights in a winter setting? If you'd like I could do that for you here in Anchorage. Lots of fat tire riding going on all the time here during the winter months. How long would they last in below zero temps. Another poster made a good point about using them in the daytime,. Do they show up at all?

any thoughts or idea on skyrocket fuze wheel writer? and why this has build-in battery what if the battery dies after the warranty? why they didn't make regular AA battery compartment

However, the Monkey Light Pro allows you to upload up to 1,000 images or 90 seconds of video or animation. The Monkey Light Pro uses rechargeable lithium ion batteries to power its 256 full color LEDs. If the battery dies after warranty, we will make replacement batteries available. Yeah, it's a real roller setup, nothing fancy. The rollers are made of aluminum so they're shiny, that helped with the effect.

Hey there. Currently, we are sold out of these lights and are focusing on making automatic bike lights that turn on when riding in low light conditions and turn off in bright light or when the bike is parked for a while. We might do another run of the video pros, but only if there is enough public interest and we can find a way to make them less expensive without degrading the quality.
