You said it all perfectly! I had a boss tell me that I was amazing in interview. When I told her I had competed in pageants, she wasn’t surprised as she was in pageantry as a teenager. It is the BEST practice for resumes and interviews!
Wow!!! This may be a longer version of "pageant relevance" questions but this is sooooo helpful and on point.
Brian Cabido thank you so much! I thought about that too! I hope it can help some contestants who are searching for an answer to this question that’s relevant to them 😊
@@DaniWalker people should take advantage of this free advice... I mean national directors should get a coach like you
Brian Cabido thank you!!! I’d be open to some national coaching 😄
Hahaha my husband applied to med school while I was competing last time. We kept talking about how the process was almost the same.
ashley i jette that’s amazing!!! Thanks for sharing that. It really strengthens my points 👑💗
Absolutely loved this video! The message and essence of what you're saying really resonates with me, even as a guy watching this lol!
ohitsROME thank you so much! Your comment has weight because you’re a guy! 😊
Yes! All of the above! Plus...I think being around such positive, motivated, determined and goal oriented people also is influential...When I entered my first pageant at 11 it was the first time I was told "My dreams could come true! That I could do anything! Be anything! It was the first time I met people who wanted me to succeed and helped build me up. I was being bullied in Jr. High and when I went to pageants it was like an escape from mean girls. Girls at school were making fun of me for being in pageants, talent shows, parades and newspaper articles. I was made fun of for being on the honor roll and being recognized for my accomplishments. In pageant world it was celebrated.
I too came from a city not so affluent which had many temptations to dangerous and risky lifestyle choices, but pageants was an extra curricular activity which helped keep me out of trouble and kept me focused on my future in the midst of adversity. It was easy to stand up in front of classrooms and give oral reports because I had stood on stage many times in front of many more people than any classroom or college setting. It was easy to do a thesis presentation in college and go into job interviews without being nervous because I started doing interviews at 11 years old. I can't stress enough how many life skills pageantry teaches and why it is so relevant to today's generation.
Shannon Cline yessss to all of this. I had very similar experiences with pageantry. I second all of this ❤️❤️❤️
Now I understand being a title holder or even you experienced joining even if you did not win is a plus. It gives other people an additional perspective of your personality most especially if your work is totally different.
YESSS :D You got it
@@DaniWalker Dani your videos are very informative! Hope u will have early predictions and assessment of different pageants
@@ping8966 Yes, I'll be making some more :)

Great topic! I couldn't agree more.
Krystle Saulsberry thank you ❤️☺️
Woman power!! I love this Dani! You have pointed out many beneficial things that girls can gain from pageantry that I did not even realize! 😁💕
Thanks so much for taking the time to watch! Glad you were able to learn some new things!
Very helpful, Thank you! Stay positive!
Heaven Lee so happy to hear it was helpful 🙂
I’m a college admissions officer and have been for the last 11 years. I completely agree with you and I’m not just saying this as a die hard pageant fan but I suppose if that application comes to my desk, that applicant is lucky... jk. But many students who were titleholders or contestants demonstrate leadership and service. Students who are involved in these things in any area not just pageants is an indication they will do the same to contribute to the university’s cultural and academic dynamic which is considered in the holistic admissions process. Therefore my tip if you are using pageantry as an example of your extracurricular involvement do it but just make sure you provide details and context and how it would relate to your major or your enrollment for the admissions team to better understand who are as an applicant as a whole. .
One more thing, medical schools look for candidates with good people skills so perhaps that relates to pageantry as well. :)
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS TIP!! I hope someone reads it and find it useful :)
Girl power 💪🏽

@@DaniWalker I am going to compete in a pageant and your videos are so helpful and inspirational. :) This video specially helped me build a deeper understanding about how pageants help build life skills and self esteem in young women, and you word it so well. Really inspiring! Thank you for such videos, keep em coming!! 🤗
Girl power!
Over winter break, I competed in a MAO local competition and it was amazing, but i see a trend of newer pageant girls like me having a lower chance of receiving one of the four awards or as a finalist. I did not win an award or anything nor make it as a finalist, but I did learn a lot and enjoyed the experience overall with meeting new people and having a good time. It was funny how the contestant before me and even my own talent portion consisted of our mics not working or turned on. But the show went so well! Dani, I enjoy watching your videos! I am unsure if I want to compete again because lots of local competitions closer to me were closed down, where this one I competed in was quite far away from me. Do you have any videos about dealing with losing and how to cope with it ? (I did not completely walk away empty-handed but awarded $300 just for being a contestant- not offered at all locals and probably not each yr)
So glad to hear that you grew from the experience. It's typical to see seasoned contestants win or place. Just remember that they were a time they were new as well but they may have competed in other systems at a younger age, prior to America. I don't have an episode specifically about that. It's something I should think about though!
Cute flower top you're wearing in this video:) i grew up low income too
Thank you so much!! :) Got it at forever 21
Pageants are relevant and the women who join them are great but my gripe is with pageant fans and commentators who are biased towards the powerhouses and sash factor which could be discouraging for girls from smaller less known countries. Also unfortunately even in 2020 racism is still prevalent among international pageant fans this is why some contestants seem so defeated before and during prelims as they get little to no media coverage and ignored at arrivals and events.
Awww so unfortunately true. I hope, in time, the pageant community with learn
GIRL POWER!!❤💖💜 XX
Girl Power!! I completely agree! I know a lot of people have misunderstandings about the benefits of pageants so this video will be very useful. I am hoping to win a title at my local pageant in Bedford, VA this September but I'm already practicing (check out there Instagram, #missbedfordcountyfair on Instagram, and their Facebook). Any tips? you and your videos have benefited my pageant life so much!!
AC Payne awww thank you!! 😊 I’m so happy to hear that. I’ll have to check that out!! I wish you the best 👑
@@DaniWalker Thank you so much!!! you are my biggest inspiration in life, your perseverance makes me feel like I can do anything and win any title I want! Thank you so much for these helpful and AMAZING videos😊! This year they are adding talent, I think I might want to sing...not quite sure yet. I hope one day I will be half the woman your are!! You are so beautiful inside and out, it is truly admirable! 👑👑 hope to see new videos in the future maybe one about fair queens?!

Oh my goodness. This made my day. Thank you so much!!! ❤️
@@DaniWalker the way you radiate beauty makes you easy to compliment. Hopefully toward September I'll be able to tell you I am the new "Pre-Teen Miss Bedford County Fair 2019"!! ❤️ ❤️ Keep up the great work! Also, I am kind of tall for my age so I don't want to look like a teen when really I'm a pre-teen (A very fangirly overexcited pre teen) any suggestions?!
AC Payne just make sure all your wardrobe is age appropriate
Great video . Looking gorgeous . Kisses from Paris ;-) Arnaud
alan nala 💗💗💗 Miss you. I’m still trying to practice what you taught me

Pageants are not relevant anymore. Pageants are just a waste of money.
