Bullet owner here, in my experience switching out the stock 250KΩ pots for 500KΩ ones noticeably improved clarity
What do the omega symbols stand for
It's just the ratings of the pots
Ohm, i think
@@SCP--dt2hf Ohms. It's a measure of resistance of electricity in electronics. A " pot" is short for potentiometer. It is a variable resistor the same as a volume knob on a stereo or anything else
i picked up the exact SQUIRE MUSTANG for $50.00 usd from a guy who needed some quick cash. i put in a Seymour Duncan in the bridge, replaced the pots with 500k's, a better 3 way switch, and a custom made bone nut. plays 100% better
Dude that's a good price and some nice mods too bet it sounds much better 🎸😎😮
Could you make a demo of what it sounds like?
I have both these guitars and absolutely love them. Got the bullet first and it’s still my go to because I mostly play punk and grunge/alternative but the classic vibes out of phase tones are amazing as well. Distortion just goes better with the bullets humbuckers. Definitely wanna put a humbucker in the bridge of the classic vibe tho
Whoops just realized this is the vintage modified lol. Anyway still a great guitar!!
i almost prefer the bullet mustang i really like the warmer tones i think ima pick one up
Set it it properly then 😂🙂
Thanks for all the great Mustang demos.
As a teenager in 1981 I got my first good guitar, a Fender Mustang. I ran it into a 30w Yamaha SS amp then out the headphone jack through an MXR Distortion + into a 6w Fender Champ. It was the grungiest tone ever! When I first heard Nirvana I remember thinking Kurt stole my sound.
That Mustang is long gone but I will be getting one of the Squier VM Mustangs once I pay off my Fender Jimi Monterey Strat.
Ooh now that's a nice setup bet it was a fine sound 🤘 I highly recommend the VM Mustang I'm sure you'll dig it. Glad you enjoy the videos I have made many on the Mustangs
The out of phase clean from the VM is incredible. It emulates everything that a clean single coil mustang is. Also the distortion on the bullet is incredible for a $150 guitar. I bought one and am very, very impressed.
They are both awesome guitars I love the phase switching on a Mustang, the bullet is just such a good guitar for the money
I picked up the bullet a few weeks ago, I had to put it through a fairly intense setup to get it to not sound like crap. Sounds ok now but I'm ordering a loaded pickguard from the vintage mustang. I'm sure when I'm done I'll have a $800 dollar mustang that is worth $100.
Mine played and sounded amazing straight out of the box, I would’ve sent it back but it should be a nice mod project 👍
The Bullet’s are on sale right now in the US at the Guitar Spender (Center 🤣) for $129. May need to get the surf green.
Good price 🎸👌 well converted in to UK £
I just paid $180 and I feel like I got a killer deal. Love this guitar
@@mercharris5266 same, for the price it’s an amazing guitar
The older ones were basswood they changed to poplar in the last 2 years. They don't sell both just poplar now
The Vintage Mod seems easier to dial a good tone in with
That said, the Bullet, with a bit of tlc and some modifications, is already primed to be a rhythm player's best friend
Out of curiosity, would you ever be up for taking a look at a Squier '51? They're odd things, but utterly brilliant
The VM is my favourite, but the bullet could get some nice mods.
I have been looking for a cheap one to turn up
@@theguitarmanifesto absolutely agree on that
And I managed to find mine for about £179 (pre-loved) in a local shop...I hope you're able to find about as something reasonable
Nice video Rob 😎👌 I prefer the sound of the VM Mustang but the Bullet sounds badass on Distortion 😎 nice haircut btw
Hi Rob, enjoyed the video. Good to see you finally got a Surf Green Bullet Mustang. I bought one a month or so ago and love it. It's very easy to play and I love the pickups. I liked the sound of both of these Mustangs. Great styling & Great guitars!
Thanks Tim, yeah they finally got released over here not sure what I'm going to do with it yet.
Keep it!
😂😂 never say never 😂😂
Thank you very much for reviewing both, I've been looking at buying a Mustang for ages and now after watching your review, I'm defiantly getting the Vintage Modified Squier, Thank you :)
It's a great guitar did you get one?
The Meat Manifesto I did for Christmas, best Christmas present ever lol
Ah awesome I love em they are so much fun to play, which colour did you get?
The Meat Manifesto the "Off White" basically Yellow lol
ooh nice good choice Sir
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved the yellow Vintage Modified Mustang, over the Bullet.
The single coils really shone on clean, over the Bullet.
The Bullet is probably made more for being played with distortion, and from all accounts from different reviewers, is a great muck-around-have-fun electric guitar.
Definitely an early days punk machine...possibly long term, with some upgrades, who knows?
Both are great guitars🎸🎸
Hey Rob, great video as always. I personally think the VM Mustang sounded brighter, cleaner, & clearer. Even with the distortion, if that makes sense. I do have a VM Mustang, so maybe my opinion is a bit biased, but I think it sounds better. The only thing I don't care for on my VM Mustang, is the gloss neck. I'm working on sanding it down to play smoother, but its still a bit sticky. The hardtail bridge on the bullet mustang just takes away from the whole mustang vibe, ya know what I mean. I do wish the VM Mustang had body contours though. That's 1 thing I envy about the bullet mustang. They both are a great price for people who don't want to spend a fortune on a decent guitar.
Have to agree the VM Mustang is definitely my favourite of the 2 two I prefer the old skool setup.yhe gloss neck is a pain but easily sanded down to a satin finish
I love 💕 my mustang- have same exact model ( color) - I play it with my Marshall amp set to the blues breaker setting and it sounds sooo nice right out of the box!
Absolutely love the neck on the Bullet Mustang. It's the only 12" radius short scale on the market. And really thin, almost Wizard thin.
the blue guitar in the background ....is that a jagstang?? The bullet mustang undoubtedly the coolest guitar in the price range.
Yes it's a Jag-Stang, the bullet Mustang is an awesome guitar 😎🎸
that jagstang in the back is a beauty
Thanks dude it's my Telemaster has a Jag-Stang shape to it, currently in the middle of modding it in a video series
I've said before I chose the Bullet Mustang after your reviews. I would like to put on nickel knobs.
About a month after this comment I took a pair of fender style of my unplayable Garry guitar and when my Fender knobs arrived I kept the Garry ones on because they're shorter and out of the way but fully accessible if I need speed access. I screwed up two packs of Ernie Ball 9s I was trying everything but it sounded like played like crap and then I saw his video on setting up and all I have now is a pack of Gibson 10s I'm going to put on. I have a lot of work to do to correct my mistakes resetting the intonation and I Saw a tutorial where a Guy shows how to lower the pick-ups to get a warmer bluesy tones and the Tele twang sounds.
Rob did ever give anymore though about reviewing the Epiphone LP Muse even though it's a high-end guitar I don't think you would have a problem reselling it but even the used one's aren't that much cheaper so I believe that that will be an investment guitar. According to the the sellers they are complicated guitar and they said it's not a true LP because of the weight relief and the thin chambered body keeps it from chugging and it's to close to a 335.
I hear a pretty big difference, the VM sounds the best for me, but the HH Bullet is nice too
Yeah both awesome guitars especially the vintage modified 😎🎸
Great demo man!
I might be in a minority, but I absolutely love the Mustang bridge in terms of comfort. It's (from my experience) the smoothest and most comfortable tremolo I have ever experienced. Were I to own one however, I'm sure I'd change my mind quickly. I do intend on buying one of these beauties, though. Other offsets - I'm leaning more towards paying more for the Fender brand (I know, I'm being shallow here, the squiers are amazing, I just want to have the Fender logo on my Jazzmaster and Jag.)
I love the Vibrato on the Mustang too as long as the guitar is set up correctly is works fine.
Yeah I get some people are precious with the Fender/Squier logo it honestly doesn't bother me, nothing a little sanding and a new Fender water slide decal wouldn't fix :)
This comparison was 'perfect', if you get me there 😂
I think I like the thicker tone on the bullet
i love my bullet. for almost 100eu you cant get any better, and i like the way it sounds unlike the classic mustang. its got a different personality and i like that
Love your Chanel bro. Thanks for the comparison, ordered the surf green, love my mustang but I got the chunky neck. Time to buy another new mustang. Thanks for the in depth of the necks
Awesome bro glad you love the channel,
Mustangs are awesome you have good taste 🎸👌
@@theguitarmanifesto i like guitars that taste good haha.. the surf green bullet will have a warmoth neck with green alien head inlays.. when they are done making it 😉
@@jasonsullivan3375 now I best that'll taste very good 😮🎸👌
Great video,i think the modified mustang is better but bullet is great for its money also tomorow me and my friend will make cover all the unplagged nirvana songs
Agreed the VM is awesome, ah that sounds really cool hope you guys have a good time
Man i like the style of the vm but I just want humbuckers or at least a bridge humbucker. Should I buy one and mod to be a little more like the other? Which one?
Nice demo man
is the CV a versatile guitar enough for a beginner ? i really want to buy one, but as a beginner i wonder if it's as versatile as a strat. I'd like to play 70s rock essentially, hard rock, and indie rock
You can play all that stuff with a CV Mustang, 4 different playing positions so lots of versatility
@@theguitarmanifesto alright thank you ! since i played a mustang in my music school it's been my dream guitar but one of my teachers told me it wasn't versatile enough. Thanks for the clarification ;)
Yeah guess they're not grunge enough 🤣
@@theguitarmanifesto ahaha but i dont want to do grunge with this guitar, i don't really like grunge, should i still purchase it :) ?
I was just joking, don't worry they're very versatile.
+1 for Vintage Modified
Thanks for the comparaison. I like small guitars. I am now looking for a second one. I think of a mustang or an offset and I highly prefer the one with the single coils. See you !
Good choice!
Vintage Modified a cleaner more trebly sound than the Bullet. I modded out my Mustang the only thing left original on it is the bridge.
Where did you buy an alternative neck? I want to replace it but can't find any other mustang necks. Thanks!
Love my classic vibe Mustang!!
the squire bullet mustang you can bend the neck, like a vibrato
Party trick
Thanks, very helpful.
I’ve got a vintage modified. The phase switching produces unique tones. I’m thinking about putting a set of hot rails in. What’s your opinion on the change in tonality with the skinny humbuckers? Is modifying this beauty worth the money or do you prefer it stock
I suppose the VM stays in tune much better. I've read a few times people saying the Bullet goes out of tune very quickly.
Not much difference if I'm honest, most guitarists don't fully stretch their strings out leading to constant tuning issues.
Better tuners and nut will help too on both guitars
Actually I do like the bullet too, but it sounds nothing like a mustang tbh. Also the Mustang looks much nicer and has a better tone versatility.
Both awesome guitars 🎸👌
Yesterday i bought MUSTANG BULLET 🤘😍❤
Nice they're very cool guitars 🎸😎🤘
I have the Fiesta red one
I always loved to own a red fender mustang! It’s just lovely to play and look at.
Can you upgrade the bullet version to be closer to the Vintage mod. E.g. changing the entire pickguard and wiring to be the same as the vin.mod. and perhaps the bridge?
Yes bud, but you'll need a router, I did something similar recently with a Cobain Competition Mustang. Check the video is was a couple months ago
@@theguitarmanifesto do you need the router for the bridge or even for the pickguard! Thanks for answering I’ll check your other video
I have this Squier Mustang bullet with Seymour Duncan on bridge, but i'm considering buy the Vintage Modified...
I love the setup of a standard Mustang with switching and single coils
@@theguitarmanifestoonce I had the chance to try this Vintage Modified in a store near from my house. It has a pretty sound! Did you ever try this Seymour Duncan Sh4 pick-up? Kurt used to have this one on his Mustangs, i think
Yes great pickup, Made a series on here building a budget Kurt Cobain Mustang
Nice comparison bro. I personally think the VM sounds nicer. But the Bullet still sounded good.
Thanks bro, yeah agree the VM is just awesome
It’s a classic for sure. How’s the Indian loral on the bullet?
Indian laurel is fine feels no different, it's Pau ferro I have beef with 😂😂
Hey i doubt you will answer this but, im planning on getting a squire vm mustang and trying to turn it into a replica kurt cobain mustang. Is there an issue with the bridge on those type of guitars like with the 70s vibe jaguars?
No these bridges are great
I’m considering buying the squier bullet mustang. I’ve only seen real hate from one CZcamsr. For $150 it sounds great. Also I could be wrong but jamming a Silversun Pickups song?
Plenty of love for this guitar from this CZcamsr they are awesome guitars well worth it for the price. Ha awesome they were my own tunes
Lol I thought it was Lazy Eye from Silversun Pickups also
He use to play Nirvana at the demo
How tall are you? I'm looking at buying one and I've heard they are quite small? I like the look of the vintage modified more :) i think i would replace both pickups with Hotrails? thank you for the vid :)
I'm 6ft Mustangs are pretty small but great fun to play, if you want a bigger sound for for hotrails 🎸🤘
Many tall guitarists collect Mustangs to inspire them different music. The scale length is 1 1/2” short but overall guitar length is taller than tele. Leo was a design genius.
despite the scale the Mustang is still longer that a Telecaster for instance.
HH by a nose…Both are great though…
What is the difference between in vs out of faze?
I'm sure there's detailed explanations, to me one sounds thin one sounds thick
is Squier Bullet Mustang is fine?? i want to buy Mustang guitars but i find VM is little bit expensive for my wallet
for me that Bullet Mustang humbucker tone is amazing for the price
I was playing the bullet in the ship today found a bit to much buzz on the low e, tuning was slippy and really chunky frets just wondering if you had any similar feelings
Nothing a good setup and stretching the strings out correctly wouldn't fix
@@theguitarmanifesto thanks man might give it a buy worst case scenario I drown it in distortion 😂
That's the one ✌️👌🎸😎
I see some Jim beam
Mustang 👍👍
I’ve been wanting to get a decent sounding guitar for punk stuff that I do that would be good for thrashing around and I think I found it
Either would do a great job
🔥🔥🔥
I’ve been trying to find my first electric guitar and your channels really helped a lot! I’ve been playing acoustic for 2 years and I want to move up to the electric. I really want a nice warm sounding guitar. I’ve moved from the squier Tele to the squier vintage 70s strat and now I’m here with the vintage mustang. I just don’t know if it’s would fit the kind of genre I want to play? I like warm, clean, kind of r&b or jazzy tones (really mellow) do you have any ideas. I’m on he squier budget
Maybe also try a Jazzmaster
Rob The Meat Manifesto I’ll definitely look into it.
I've review basically all the Jazzmasters Squier make check out the videos, for jazzy tones the neck pickup is what it's made for
Rob The Meat Manifesto yeah! I remember watching the squier vintage modified mustang vid you did. It sounded great. I’m planning on going to guitar center soon to try things out. Either way I’m getting the fender frontman amp so I’ll try some guitars on it to see what I like best. Thanks for the help.
i'm really skint at the mo , but the Bullet HH Mustang i'm tempted to order today , i just want something to modify
Ooh could you sell one to make room?
Jagstang in the background 😍
Plenty of videos on that 🎸👌
@@theguitarmanifesto wish I'd bought one years ago they go for a decent amount of money now don't they. A real piece of music history right there on your wall.
They still show up now and again for about £500
@@theguitarmanifesto £500 for a Fender Jagstang? Really? I've just spent £400 on a Fender Duosonic. All the ones I've seen on Reverb and eBay are closer to £900
@@Seventeen_Seconds look on gumtree FB marketplace prices are more realistic
are you only picking the 5th and 6th string in the first demos?
That’s what it looks like but damn it sounds great.
what is the difference between this squier mustang Surf Green color (special run) and ordinary black and blue models?
Just the colour nothing else
@@theguitarmanifesto thanks
Hello. What song are you playing?
My own Jams dude 😎🎸
Where can I find the tads to the song you were playing? Its sounds super
I've had a few people ask me for tabs on this and other songs so will do a video soon :)
Rob The Meat Manifesto Thanks!! Looking forward to it!
Are there tabs for the first song? I’d love to practice it 🤟🏾
I prefer the Bullet Mustang!
Same here! But I guess I'm a bit biased since I'm a proud owner of the Mustang Bullet.. the VM Mustang is cool too.
what song is it? 3:35
One of my own songs
The Guitar Manifesto really cool!
Thank you
@@theguitarmanifesto wow its a great song
Does anyone know a cheap case for the mustang
Will fit in most cases I guess
A nice gig bag
Is the riff an specific song?
Yeah one of mine
why no proper chords ?
Cause I can

My bullit is made of Poplar.
The more modern ones are
I also fitted Firebird mini humbuckers
On it and its Awsome.
Warmer sound.😎✌
buy a duo sonic squier
is there such a thing? haven't seen one before.
I reviewed one recently
