@DabBrightside I agree with you also people are sleeping on alot of characters in MvC's and street fighter because some characters are stronger or easier to use.
But the thing about it is that not everyone played the game the whole way and used the game shark or cheatcode disks to unlock everything, (people such as myself) or they played it at the arcade which came BEFORE the console versions which already had every character unlocked. Its true man, everyone always played this game the same exact way.

@airamanddex maybe he was more comfortable on the floor. i saw a series of matches in SF2 with john choi and afro cole and some others. john choi ALWAYS sat on the ground. some people like sitting on the ground.
I don't really play fighting games, but I love watching street fighter videos, and I've began picking up on stuff. But MvC just seems so chaotic I can't tell what the heck is going on.

Well, back in beta, you only had like 25 in the beginning, with like only 2 of top tier characters being unlocked in beginning. Meta's kept changing everytime people had unlocked a character as a whole community. Imagine the frenzy when Sentinel, the 2nd to last character to be unlocked, was beginning to be used. Of course people are going to switch.
@Thomasrobert3rd It tests timing more than the original loser. Yeah try hitting the assist the entire time against Wong and he will bump your main guy out and kill your assist with ease. MVC2 is the ultimate timing game. No other game comes close. From infinite combos, to excellent assist use, it is the greatest fighting game ever created.
@danielyeh actually i do, one of my favorites. I love fighting games and i know that when the game offers you a tool to spam, you have to use it carefully but i dont really think throwing out assists every 3 seconds is what capcom really wanted. Anyway i dont get mad at assist spam. That's just a tool capcom offered but not done correctly IMO.
This game has been analyzed and broken down for 10 years, of course everyone is going to figure out who's viable and who's not. Umvc3 has been out for months. In the early stages of Marvel 2, there were a lot of characters being used.
You know I love marvel, I've been playing it for the last 10 years, but I'm sorry these "Top tier" players in tournaments need to learn there are over 50 characters in the game, not just the same 4 or 5 they always use.

I would agree with you if it was any game. But this game is so broken that only 8 characters are actually good. So it would make no sense going to a major and use Ryu just to loose.
So I haven't played this game, but I've played Skull Girls Which I really like and I've heard was really influenced by this game. Is this game better than skull girls?

No its sentinel vs sentinel with either Strider/Doom, Storm/Cyclops, or Captain Commando/Storm. Those the only combinations you see.
